Dodgy weather forecast ***Called off***

With temperatures set to plummet again tonight and with heavy snow forecast is there any word from the club as to whether tomorrow's game will definitely go ahead?
Given that certain areas of the pitch will be in the shade and therefore unlikely to freeze, added to the fact Rochdale will have to make a long journey back in arctic conditions tomorrow evening, surely the club will have to make as early a call as possible tomorrow to avoid a repeat of last season's unfortunate Boxing Day episode v Southampton. Thankfully D'Urso isn't the ref!

Gillingham been called off0

Not heard anything to say it's not so presume full steam ahead, sure every precaution is being taken so the came will kick-off.0
-
Met Office forcecast is for 0 today, -1 to -4 overnight, 1 daytime tomorrow, the snow apparently due overnight Saturday into Sunday morning. Presumably Paddy has the pitch covered, as on Monday.....0
-
No mention of any pitch inspection so far and no snow forecast before the game tomorrow so it should be on0
-
The only concern I guess will be areas of the pitch that don't thaw out. (South end of ground in particular.) Covers can only do so much. Fingers crossed...0

Bring on the Rochdale......bring on the Rochdale!0 -
I recall a few years back, we had an inflatable pitch cover that blew warm air to prevent ground frost.
I take it we don't have it anymore?0 -
I heard it got mould and went rotten., can't remember who from.0

It had holes that were either too expensive / or couldn't be repaired, when we didn't have a pot to p*ss in.

Surely you can patch holes pretty easily - more likely that it went rotten. Shame, you would have thought it was designed to last!
Does the club have access to hot air blowers?0 - Sponsored links:

I think it cost something like £350,000 that thing.
Don't know why that figure is in my head.0 -
Well, maybe the mysterons will stick under-soil heating there in the summer...............0

A drop in the ocean for the new owners...0

Under seat heating may be useful tomorrow. Would reccomend the wamers I bought from Asda - expose to air and you get 10 hours of heat from them - you can make yourself nice an cosy with a couple of those.0

Would be good to hear from the club that they are confident it will go ahead- I'd look at the condition of th epitch at 3 oc'ock today and it will tell them what areas will need to be worked on etc... as I don't expect tomorrow will be a lot different - the snow isn't forecast until the evening.0

hope it's good news then0

Ref is probably looking at it now! It can't be D'Urso seeing as he reffed us on Tuesda yso that's a good thing. My gut feeling is that it is going to be off though - I really hope I'm wrong.0

Could do without another postponement to midweek, dont wanna end up with another 13,000 crowd on a cold weeknight again in what is nonetheless an important game0

Twitter announcement soon0

hope its on
where will i get my weekly football fix !

It wouldn't be a disaster if the game was called off, it would give the players a week's rest which for some would be good...

It seems that the frost covers only work down to minus 4.0 -
Personally doubt it will go ahead even if the club want it to - didn't we have a game called off late by the ref two years ago for a frozen corner of the pitch?

It's always a local ref that does them isn't it? Not neccessarily the one pencilled in for the match. Where does D'Urso live?

That was due to the lino's run area -and D'Urso was being ultra fussy as the club said it had time to fix that with the blowers.0
