  • In a way I'm pleased it's off , I've been to the podiatric bloke this morning to have my foot scraped ( nice) means I can become a plastic today and watch West Ham v Millwall with my feet up and also catch up on back episodes of Hawaii 5 0, I'm all charltoned out at the moment and need to get my Charlton appetite back.

What do you mean Eddie was being silly ?

He works for the club !
You and a few others know that Bart but the rest of us don't, I for one haven't a clue what The Jackpot Team are, where they are or what they do......didn't even know there was such a thing.
Besides Bart........you know yourself that in the past duff info has been passed out re postponments resulting in some significant confusion.........just saying that it's 'always' best to leave it to be confirmed on the official site and I hope you'd agree with that notion.

The clue was in the line "we have just had a call and we aren't working"

Clem...you know what the Jackpot Team do and who they are..........I certainly don't mate....never heard of 'em.
And I bet there's a lot to whom that reference meant absolutely zilch.
Any way hope I've made a good point for the future as I honestly do think it's an important thing to keep a close eye on, as well meaning and helpful as some folk may think they are being.

I think you might find them around the ground and inside selling Addicks Instant Jackpot tickets to be drawn at half time. But, of course, I'm only speculating, unofficially :-)

    Do yourself a favour chaps.

Tell your missus tonight your not going football tomorrow as you want to spend the day with.her.

This will be called off. AFKA says.
    Well ?

Anyone take my advice, hop, skipped and jumped into 'the good books', and now feeling quietly smug about it ?

The football league show will be happy tonight. They won't have to show any of us at all! Let alone speak about up. Claridge will be chuffed.

More to the point it seems that Huddersfield and Shef Wed are both still on and will have the chance to leave us ''only'' seven pts clear of third place come 5 o'clock.

It's bad enough not having a game at the Valley to go to, without spending a silly couple of hours this afternoon checking results from ruddy Yorkshire!
  • Poor show tbh

Seems to me that eddieaddick deserves an apology - fella was only trying to be helpful.

I'll do it as I'm sure the point will be lost on some.

Sorry eddideaddick that you got stick from some quarters when you were only trying to help and were proved right in the end.

I'll third that. Thanks for the heads up, Eddie. Knowing it was off before 9am helped me replan the day (i.e. sitting in front of a computer screen for the rest of it like a damned fool!)

  • Out of interest do the players still train when the matches are postponed? Surely the training pitch would also be frozen.

Carlisle brought a new cover last year which is more like a fleece which protects down to minus 10. Huddersfield and Wednesday both have undersoil heating

Does it protect the pitch from flooding too?
  • I'm a bit put out by this. Went for a run round the park about an hour ago, the ground was hard but not that bad, there were kids teams training on it. In 3 hours time with heaters on it til then I am sure it wouldve been okay. My teams 11aside game is on this afternoon too - although its too late for me to effing play cos i'd already pulled out cos of Charlton! Frustrated

I always thought we had undersoil heating. Im disappointed as i thought we had 1 of the best stadiums and best general facilities in this shit league.

i mean fancy trying to tell people that we have just been told no work today at the ground and then passing on info

i reckon he shouldve kept his gob shut so i couldve spent the day in the pub pretending i went to football

I would have thought that we could afford something now...........undersoil heating or new covers etc etc. Maybe something for the new owners to think about, especially if we are looking good for promotion.

All the Premier League ask for is 'effective protection' so it's not a requirement as of yet for the system to be installed.

Saying that, more harsh winters might change that

Well, walk outside my front door and the weather is much milder, drizzle and 7 degrees.

Shame the match was not scheduled for my garden lawn.... or even Exeter (like last week). It would definitely be on.

    ;o)

Can see the mysterions investing in some better covers now, if the future aim is the Prem they won't want to see games at The Valley being called off as soon as it gets a bit cold, especially when Wycombe and Watford have got their games on, Wycombe even have undersoil heating :-o
