  • Ref was awful - Utd best we've played at home - needed the 2nd goal early 2nd half - can't fault the forwards - back 4 immense - needed a bit of extra quality in middle - Jacko great free kick - but looked very tired in 2nd half
  • we average 2.31 pts a game.
  • What was the attendance

  • Amazing feeling

Would have taken a draw, delighted with the win

Can't believe JJ did it again

Ridiculous (without the benefit of a replay) decision to send Russel off and I'm sure the ref only sent Beattie off when he spoke to the linos and realised his error. Although hardly surprising Beattie was at the centre of the melee

I'm sure we should have had a pen in first half when Jacko's shot was blocked and Greenie should have scored in the second but who cares

    One aim.
  • Ref was an absolute bellend and ruined the game. Worst refereeing performance I've seen at the valley for a long time.

    That is all.
  • It was funny when just after the 2 sendings off the whole stadium erupted into "You're not fit to referee"
  • Not sure if it has already been mentioned elsewhere, but the free kick for the goal came at the end of a passage of a play from a throw in we shouldn't have had (ball came off BWP).
Bit of a lucky break, but we certainly made the most of it.

Feared they would get a goal, but we held out well.

Will be interested to see the Russell sending off again, as couldn't see if it was two footed.

Looking very strong for promotion now.
  • Anyone else think that jumping in the area with your hands above your head and virtually catching the ball ought perhaps to be a foul and penalty? Not the ref apparently...
  • good hard fought win.
great goal though should've been their throw.
russel deserved a straight red from where i was sat.
imo even if we do go up, we'll struggle to keep wiggins.
haven't seen mk dons but believe its between them and sheff u for 2nd.
  • In 25 years of going i've never had more faith, and trust me as a cynical man that's a big shout. I can't see us messing this up now which, again is hard for me to say based on experience. There was a thread earlier this week about how bad eltham's pubs are. That may be true, but if you're in one tonight and you see a lad grinning from ear to ear - that's me and i'll buy you a pint whilst we celebrate

  • Strange match, certainly not worth 5/6 bookings and two reds. United were decent and not unlike ourselves. Could've been a good end to end game until the ref intervened 2nd half.

Wiggins, Solly, Taylor and Morrison all great. Kermorgant good in the air but him and BWP not on the same wavelength much sadly.

It's results like this that make it hard to be a glass half empty type these days...
  • Great win, very hard thought. Very similar teams, cancelled each other out. Another magical JJ moment sealed it.

Red card happened so quick but think it may have been, certainly won the ball but did look two footed. Didn't see what Beattie done at all.

All of the back four were so solid today. Pritchard stood out in the middle, Yann up top. Just seems like him & BWP are lacking a little understanding.

Very happy with the win but feel a draw would have been a fair result. Who cares though! We're top of the league!
  • cant be lucky in all 24 games that we haven't lost, cant be lucky to have a goal difference of 32+, or 60points, or 51 goals...no good luck, no bad luck, just great organisation, and a will to win, this year we are the real deal, great coaching and great young players complimented by great experienced players, the balance is right at the club, the stars are aligned (not sure i should have said that), who cares if its ugly at times? double over the blades now, 4pts off the wendies, the only two games where you might be concerned going into them are Huddersfield away on the 24th of March and maybe MK dons at home on valentines day, a lot of home games coming up.

time to stop praying and start believing, we are on the up again!!
  • Grinding out a result is what it takes sometimes. Whatever the Sheffield bods say it can't all be luck from us. 7 pts clear of second with a game in hand and 10 pts clear of third says it all really. Happy days to be an Addick. :-)
  • 20 games left, 40 pts needed for the ton-up...

The only scenario in which I can see us not getting 100 pts is if we're already promoted by early April and the team then decides to emulate Curbs' glory days by starting the party early and we fail to win any of the final five games!
  • Get in there you reds!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beaten both Sheffield clubs in the space of a week and 7 clear at the top!!!!!!!!

We are going up say we are going up,
we are going up say we are going up!!!!

    COYRs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Surprised by the stats as I felt the Blades were worth a point and it seemed like they put us under more pressure than the stats suggest.

Personally thought it was a scrappy game won by an absolute belter of a freekick.

I hope the players get some r n' r as a few looked very tired in the second half.

Ref was hopeless. The Wiggins booking was absolutely farcical. From where I was sitting Russel went one footed, low and got the ball. If he sends Beattie off then Yann has to go as well. Absolute joker.
  • BWP played today, so that's his 25 games played to trigger the contract extension.
  • As usual writing this before reading the rest of the posts.
First and foremost (and maybe I am the only one saying this) it seems to me the officials did well today. I didn't see exactly what Russell did, but the ref was quick and totally decisive as he had been all game. Throughout the game the ref was close to his decisions (there was one exception when Wiggy was booked), and he was quick clear and decisive with his actions. After he sent off Russell his team, who watched the melee, told him what had happened in the melee and he sent off Beattie and booked two more for their naughtiness, the officials acted decisively as a team and backed each other up, in my view we have had much worse officiating this season.
    There I've said it.
I think Jacksons FK was better than last weeks, last weeks winner at Hillsborough was stunning so you can guess what Jackos was like. I also think Sheff Utd gave us our toughest game at the Valley this season, despite others getting points. Sheffield responded well in the second half, and it was a real tussle where we protected our lead againd endless attacks, with some occasional and dangerous attacks by us....indeed we may have scored at least one more....Danny Green had a really good chance for example.
A really dramatic game, where Sheff Utd gave it everything followed by very decent support. Morro was terrific for the whole game, as was Kerm and Jacko, most of the team were good, and for a team supposedley not all that we won! We have 60 (sixty) points and I would say certainly safe from relegation unless we go into administration!
The crowd stayed on and cheered to the rafters at the end.
Even my brother roused himself, schlepped to the Valley by train, had a drink and paid £22 to get in...but also had £5 on Jacko as first scorer at 7-1!

  • Seth - if you think the ref was good today, you have been drinking with your brother.

  • It's not arrogance (although I'm French), just a gambler's behaviour. I'll be booking my non- refundable Eurostar ticket
to celebrate promotion on one of the three april games : Oldham away, Walsall home and our favourite Carlisle away
on april 14th. Never been very sharp in my predictions but at least I can expect your support.
  • Biggest win for many years. Another superb defensive performance. Should have been their throw leading up to the goal. Tackle didn't look red, will have to see on FLS. Rhoys needs to be a bit careful, looked a bit cocky at times, but what a player. As far as Solly is concerned he is playing better week by week. Jackson MASSIVE again. 10 POINTS CLEAR OF 3RD ........COYR
  • Fair enough Clem, although I wrote 'did well' rather than 'was good'. Everybody was looking at the one incident (which I admit I didn't clearly see) and judged him on that. however even for that one incident he gave an '8 yard decision', and was a lot closer to the event than nearly everybody else. Generally the game was well controlled.
  • Another huge result. 13/15 points v those tough Yorkshire teams in the top 4. Both Sheffield clubs still in the FA cup. Things are looking good...................
  • How many Sheff Utd were there today? Also someone posted it was a bit 'lively' after the game. Any reports or trouble outside the ground, or was it just banter?
  • I'd say around 2,800 Blades there.
  • Good game spoiled by a bad ref. Beattie looked like he was shaking someone warmly by the throat to me. Russell's tackle looked ok, hard but fair.
  • That free kick was straight out the top drawer. He couldn't have hit it any sweeter. Sheff u were a good footballing team though and are worthy of getting promotion. The little ginge Quinn was class. Didn't even see Evans to be fair which shows how good our defence are.

    Mom - Morrison
  • Great result but I thought we were pants today. But that performance stunk of mourinho Chelsea. Don't play well but still won sign of a good team. Centre halves were different class along with wiggins again. Only sour note apart from the ref was green turning his back. Fully grown man!!!

I'd say about 3.1k sheff utd. Quite a few Sheff Utd mouthing off before who got what they were after. And afterwards.

Could tell they were northern, Scruffy f###ers!!

Thought they held on well although the ref was shocking. Hamer looked poor though imo.
