Not quite as fluent as Yeovil but a very decent performance from a team that had to play with only ten men two days ago. As Jake says above, a previous Charlton team would have lost that. Thought Morro was excellent, and as said, Cort grew into it. Yann worked himself into the ground. Danny Green took his goal very well. Not quite as impressed with Pritchard as some, but it was his full debut. He showed promise, for sure. Great to have Jacko back in time for the Sheffield games. Quite ridiculous yellow card for Wiggins. Never heard any booing of BWP or anyone else, pretty good support, but might have expected bigger numbers, there were more Charlton for Preston. But overall, very happy.
Important win with Sheff Utd slipping up, good to see Green scoring again. Also can someone run me with through with what happened, with the power delay.
Well its the result that's needed back on track a nice little diversion of the cup next week to relax and try and get our free flowing back. Bring on the trip to Sheffield can't wait
One of the best bits about today was how well BWP played (yes I know he did not score and that is the point) He chased everything and if nothing else this was the game he let us know that he will both conserve his energy but also chase stuff down and that yes it is possible to do both. I thought Brentford threat (bar a couple of chances in second half ) was extinguished after 30 minutes and that was not a poor performance by them but a very good performance by us . Apart from Kermorgant who is as Powell says a real warrior other people who impressed were Cort , Green, wiggins, Morrison, Solly, in fact the whole team did well. I have yet to see why Clarke was put on (he did not want the ball at all and that may be stage fright who knows) The crowd was remarkably quiet I thought (perhaps nervous after Saturday) but barring a complete trouncing by Fulham I am looking forward to the Sheff UTD game That has to be a bigger game than Huddersfield as we approach the business end of season.
A very good result against a well-drilled Brentford side. Pritchard looked like he was at home next to Hollands (who was back to his best) but the more I see of Yann the more I cannot understand how we got him for free. He is everywhere! Fantastic energy level and he can play on the ground as well as winning most aerial challenges. I thought BWP did well today despite some dubious challenges from Legge in particular. We are now 7 points clear of the playoffs and with a superior goal difference that is really 8. Our next two games against the northern munters from Sheffield could leave everyone fighting for second.
If either of our refs on here were at the Valley, perhaps they could explain why the ref took no action about a piece of outrageous unsporting behaviour by Brentford which ought to be stamped out once and for all. They had two direct free kicks (one the result of a very poor decision) on the edge of the box. While Hamer was on his line, trying to arrange his wall, some Brentford twonk stood right in front of him and blatantly impeded him all the time, clearly with some verbals as well. The ref did nothing. Incredible. A yellow for unsporting behaviour is a must, and if that's Uwe Rosler's idea of a clever 'tactic' he's a bigger muppet than I realised. What the hell has that 'tactic' got to do with the game of football. And what the hell was the ref doing allowing it to go on?
Kermogant superb. Pritchard grew as the game progressed and finished strong. JJ off the pace and needs fitness. Green is curates egg and Wiggins and Solly magnificent as always. BWP trying harder today and just needs a goal, Clarke no threat to the front two. Thought SCP should have got Wagstaff on earlier as once again Solly was looking exposed. Battledvwell and would have lost this game last season. COYR....
Very dissapointed with green and the overall score - I had 1-0 in the ROD sweepstake.
Actually thought it was a workmanlike performance, Solly again outstanding, better performance form BWP, who hit the post (also shot for a throw). Passages of play we were being over run but pothers we looked good, thought Cort looked very rusty, second half better. Pritchard played well, quieter second half but overall a reasonable cover for central midfield with occaisional start, def a matchday squad player. thought subs could comeon earlier given most players had played less than 48 hours previously. Yann awesome. Clarke needs time.
Being in an offside position is not an offence in itself. The player in an offside position in front of Hamer wasn't doing anything wrong. If he'd stayed there when the ball was played then it would be offside. I suspect he runs back onside position just before the ball is in play hence no actual offence is committed. It isn't unsporting behaviour. I did see the ref have a word with the Brentford player probably saying you can stand there but leave the verbals out and you'll be flagged offside if you stay there when the ball is played.
Disappointed with performance but we got the result. Thought Green was terrible so surprised some were impressed today. Yan MOM by miles on effort alone. 5 points clear happy days
Big win puts any doubts which were creeping in after the Orient game and the 2 draws vs Oldham and Walsall to bed and puts us in a comfortable position going into the games vs the 2 Sheffield's.
Thought we was going to put the game to bed in the 2nd half but we didn't and it got nervy. Bloke next to me was moaning about BWP all game again, Clarke didn't impress me tbh I know it was only 10 minutes but I can see why Hayes was pissed off at not being on the bench! Clarke looked off the pace obviously hasn't trained but his bundle into the Brentford guy on the edge of the box could've cost us

I'm not concerned about him being potentially offside.Of course the guy knew he'd be offside if the kick was taken. This is a 'tactic" that some genius has worked out. He wasn't just standing still. What he was doing was stopping Hamer from lining up his wall. That's unsporting behaviour. Or would you like to see very team do it? And referees want more respect? Jesus wept.
Good job they could not shoot with any accuracy. But great 3 points. Is it Douglas that passes well for them? Same bloke played well at their place in the away game. Looks a good player. Ropey ref and co again! SCP seems content to let teams come and play. Was Taylor rested?
Uwe Rosler is good at getting in a persons way, and putting them off...he did it at Notts County, so it is no suprise that he has told his players to indulge in such rule bending sharp practice. Would probably make a good accountant, lawyer, or Union organiser in another life.

The Brentford player is allowed to move as he pleases until the ball is played. Obscuring the keepers view is crude tactic to do but not against the laws. What do you suggest the referee does? It's a typical tactic and one which we have to rise above.

I thought he looked knackered quite earlier on against Orient so I imagine he was rested
I was trying to work out what he was doing - I thought - if he is successful he has to be offside for obstructing the keeper and interfering with play - didn't realise the tactic was to prevent Hamer from organising his wall - makes sense now I think about it and I agree - that is unsporting behaviour - haven't seen it before and if they continue with that tactic, somebody will have a word to stamp it out.
As for Brentford, they were decent over the pitch except in the final third were they were rubbish - only that chance just before we scored which their player snatched at. Wasn't too concerned despite us missing some good opportunities as I thought they were toothless but you only need a second to score and 1-0 is a precarious lead I suppose. I thought it showed the difference between us and a decent league one side in Brentford- play was quite even apart from where it mattered - we created some excellent chances, hit the post etc... where they were totally clueless - you can see they need luck to score as they didn't have a clue attacking wise- reminded me a bit about us in recent times.

these one match losing 'blips' are very easy on my palate... im sure a few other clubs may have seen this game as another possible upset after orient?
WELL THEY CAN GET STUFFED!!!
... and the reds go marching ON ON ON>>>

The shaking and quivering with nerves is over.
You have suffered a mild stroke in East London at Brisbane Road and today you are better and getting back to your old ways.
The cure is simple 3 points for all of the next 7 games

Happy with result not so much with performance. I'm not going to complain though 3 points wooooh
They don't like it up 'em though....
