You've got to celebrate the way the team are playing at the moment. This was a relatively early night (due in part to pre - match celebrations on Friday night), the celebrations after the Exeter game went on till 4 am.
Feet on the ground ... But that was a huge step forward and a potentially defining week in the season ... Powell now needs to keep driving the basics and keep driving the things that has given us this great start ... Also just a tweet reply from JJ regarding his captaincy so far ... Delighted overall ... Just got to stay on target...
Just got in from a great day out. First half i thought was only a matter of time before they scored but we grew into the game and then took them apart and could of been more.
There is a moment in every promotion season when you finally believe that the team are going to do it. I remember being at the old Victoria Ground in, I think, February, 1986 - a freezing day, rock hard pitch and a scrappy game. Deep in the second half, Steve Thompson muscled a couple of Stoke forwards off the ball in a dangerous position and hoofed it into Row Z. It summed up the pragmatism and grit of the 86/87 side. As the Stoke supporter behind us said: " we are never going to get past these buggers." A very useful 0-0 was duly ground out.
As many have sensibly said, it is far too early to jump to any conclusions and to get carried away. There is, however, mounting evidence that our team have balls as well as quality. You would certainly not want to get on the wrong side of Taylor, Morrison or Hollands - these men are formidable opponents, as indeed are our tigerish full back, Solly ( what a great lad ) and Wiggins.
Let's hope that we can draw a good crowd for next next Saturday and lure back a few of our lapsed fans. Chris, the team and the Board certainly deserve the support.
The bottom line is that after Jackson cleared that Utd chance off the line early on we restricted them to nothing. Morrison totally dominant. Wiggins and Jackson looked premiership class. We totally dominated and outclassed a side who are one of our main contenders for an automatic place in their own back yard in the second half - full stop.
We've cleared a few off the line recently. Just goes to show if the keeper doesn't want someone on the line they should be over ruled by the manager. So important sticking someone on the posts
Can anyone tell me about the huddle at the end? They showed a bit of it on the FL show last night with CP looking very purposeful - they said he appeared to be thanking the players. It looked rather unusual, but he was pointing to something, and I suspect that it might have been you lot that made to the trek to the away end at Bramall Lane (like AFKA, I wish I had gone now, so I'm jealous!). But it all looked quite emotional and I'm intrigued....
Hamer made some very good saves and at one point, The ball was bouncing about in our area and he went for it and clattered everyone to get it, Also has excellent kicking. Thought both full backs were brilliant and are improving every week. Thought they targeted Solly but he stood his ground, Wiggins had a good shot aswell and made some very important tackles in the 2nd half.. The centre backs cleared everything that went near them.
Jackson made the goaline clearance right at the beginning and also covered for Wiggins alot when he attacked, Stephens and Hollands compliment eachother very well, They both kept Sheff Utd's midfield quiet while showing some good touches and supporting the attack. The only downside was Wagstaff who done absoloutley nothing all game snd at one stage lost the ball and got frustrated and nearly sent off. Would much rather have Green but shouldn't change a winning team.
BWP done what he had to do, Should have scored just before his goal but didn't matter in the end, Hayes held the ball up well but Kermogant looks much better but as I said, Don't change a winning team.
Kermogant had one of the best sub appearanaces I've ever seen, Held the ball up well, Won every header, Scored and played some good passes.
Special mention to the players when they scored who all went over the hoardings into the fans and the huddle at the end. And after the players had left the pitch the directors and charman (?) in the sheff utd end clapping the fans and celebrating while there was a massive Valley Floyd Road.
Fans were fantastic, Didn't stop singing all day...All the way back to the station and all the way home on the train, Summed it up on the tube home when everyone was singing 'Were top of the league'. Still got the "She said noo" song stuck in my head and it defiently put evans off.
Thought it was a great day. took my 10 year old daughter to her second game (other rochdale). she wore her new home shirt with her name on and is now a convert after previously telling me she was a 'blade'. i think this pic tells a story on its own. Powell called over all the squad for a team huddle after the final whistle. as he said after the preston game. 'this team wins as a team, and loses as a team'. what a great manager he is proving himself to be. i've seen four away games now this season and four wins. great time to be an Addick. thanks to the team. and big thanks to the sheff utd fans for taking it on the chin.
Wales footballer Ched Evans has been charged with rape.
The 22-year-old striker, who has 22 caps for his country, was arrested after an alleged incident in Rhyl, Denbighshire on 31 May.
North Wales Police confirmed he and another man will appear before Prestatyn magistrates on 8 August.
Mr Evans made a statement through his legal team on his club Sheffield United's website, although the Blades would not comment further.
The £3m-star's legal team said: "We wish to confirm that Ched Evans has this week been charged with an offence of rape by the North Wales Police.
"Ched has decided voluntarily to make this information public as he wishes to express his extreme shock and disappointment at having been charged with this offence."
The statement added that he wished to strenuously deny the charge, would be looking to clear his name and was confident he would be acquitted and entirely vindicated.
The St Asaph-born striker made his Wales debut from the bench and scored the winner in the 1-0 friendly win over Iceland in May 2008.
He came through the trainee ranks at Premier League side Manchester City before spending time on loan at Norwich City.
After returning to the Etihad Stadium, he was later sold to Sheffield United in 2009 for £3m but could not save the club from relegation to League One last season.
The club are prepared to sell Mr Evans for less than their £1.5m valuation to reduce the club's wage bill and has been linked with Championship sides Ipswich, Cardiff and Middlesbrough.
He was not involved in Sunday's pre-season friendly with Blackpool.
A North Wales Police spokesperson said: "A 22-year-old man from Crewe and a 22-year-old man from Rhyl have both been charged with rape.
"Both men were arrested on suspicion of rape on 31 May and were charged with the offence on Tuesday, 26 July.
"Both have been bailed to appear before Prestatyn magistrates on Monday, 8 August."

I bet Henry has a few aches and pains this morning - Is he an emergency loan from Bromley?

Bisstemerra - can't' add to your description, which is spot on. Can confirm that it did feel emotional, was great.
Like to know how many we had up there, felt like loads.
One of the best performances I've seen for ages.

Pub by the station was a laugh, Mick Hucknall serving behind the bar had banter aimed at him but took it very well.
Also I don't remember our away crowd going that mental when both goals went in, our end was rocking.
As for the Ched Evans taunts, had me in stitches and I do feel it put him off.
Gotta mention the centre backs Morrison and Taylor, don't feel they get the credit they deserve, looked solid all game and very professional.
