Brilliant and very impressive result and performance by the sound of things. I think we can all feel very pleased with ourselves as this week has proved that this squad of players has what it takes to go all of the way!
Just kidding had expected 7 out of 12 and well chuffed that we have now created space. Need to keep it up,but at this stage looking good, now must be as strong against Tranmere and Stevenage and Carlisle should be 9 points but I've been following Charlton too long to take anything for granted.
Sitting i'n the city square having a beer after witnessing a great performance first half we were solid second we tore them apart and it could have been more. COYR
excellent performance, best away game since the Peterboro 5-1.
First half, excellent defensive performance. Taylor and Morrison were immense, Solly tidied up a number of difficult situations, Hamer swept up behind the B4 particularly well. 2 off the line (Jacko & Taylor? ) Midfield got tackles in and worked like Trojans.
Second half, feared a tough 45 defending the Kop end, but we bottled them up and hit them on the break. Kermit scored with an excellent header at a corner, barely 10 seconds after replacing Hayes. BWP walked the ball in after lifting it over the keeper. We killed them on the break and could have added a 3rd. SU hit the post in the last min of added time, which would have been harsh. We deserved the clean sheet.
Before Tuesday evening, I think we would all have taken 4 out of 6 points, against MK and Sheff Utd.
Now we have it, its great. I wasn't at todays game, but it sounds like the same as Tuesday, not a great display, but the team did was great teams do which is keep trying, never give up and make things happen.
I never expected that result! Great three points. Heart-warming feeling being a Charlton fan right now. Well done CP and the all the team. Thanks for the start of a great weekend.
Enormous credit to SCP and the team, but I suspect that the scouting network that lined up the new players so brilliantly is also behind a very effective reporting system on upcoming opponents. This team seems so well prepared and balanced, especially when you remember that they've only played 11 competitive games together.
The whole set-up now seems to be on the march. Allowing for the usual Charlton misgivings, a bright future is now starting to stretch out far beyond this season.
Never thought I'd say this but we seem capable of upping our game when needed. A bit like Man Utd of recent years we seem to get two goals up and then can kill a game. We can come from behind, fight for tough draws or control games
We need to do this for the whole game whereas we seem to only get 45 mins at a time
All that aside the spirit seems spot on, the players aren't Billy-big-spuds and appear likeable and committed to the cause and there are some excellent partnerships forming (wiggy and jacko. Solly and waggy. Taylor and Morrison. Stephens and Hollands) all underpinned by a goalie who seems to be an actual footballer rather than someone who was dumped in goal because he's crap outfield.
It's really looking like a promising setup - and bear in mind we've got Evina, Alonso, Green still to come as well as wise old men like Euell and Doherty waiting in the wings when we need to grind out results on a cold wet Tuesday when there's a few suspensions and injuries.
Superb, 2 points would have been more than good against top 6 opposition away. 4 points, and I am confident of collecting at the end of the season, thankyou mr Hill at 14/1.
Just got back from the game. Feel sorry for those in cars or coaches, I got a 10 minute tram back to my student accommodation. In terms of the match, first half we merely stayed in the match. Second half was a much improved performance, and after the first goal (and what a substitution that was) it felt like we were going to score from every single attack. A few nervy moments, but we kept it together and were well worth our win. A particular mention for Kermorgant, who must have won every header bar none after he came on. I'd like to see him start alongside Wright-Phillips. Solly and Morrison also stood out for me.
There are twelve 'grim up north' away games to be played this season:
Carlisle
Hartlepool
Preston
Bury
Oldham
Rochdale
Tranmere
Sheff Utd
Sheff Wed
Chesterfield
Scunthorpe
Huddersfield
...and a return of twelve points from those games would be good going. So far we have got nine points, three points short of the target I've decided to set the team, so I'm not getting carried away yet!
Let's just hope Powell doesn't get the Manager of the Month award for September!!!
Preston manager will surely win manager of the month for September - 7 wins on the bounce in the league before today (which is October, remember!) and they did us in the Carling Cup too.
I would have accepted 2 points from MK and Sheffield away games. Well done to the team and the fans. I had a bet that it would be a draw at half time and CAFC to win at full time. That was a good bet then checked my account and relised that I put it on twice!!!!
In the car on the way home, we rode our luck a little in the 1st half and were abit shakey from corners but thought we stepped it up abit in the 2nd and passed much better. Great team performance, Morrison (my motm) & Taylor were immense, Hollands won some great tackles and broke up play brilliantly. Thought our fans were also great today, nice turnout and non stop singing throughout. It's a very very happy 5 hour drive home! Up the addicks!
What a fantastic result; congratulations to the management, players and supporters. This team has shown it can play decent football. Now they are looking like they have the requisite 'bottle' to get the job done and get out of this league.
Saw a West Ham mate just now and he was saying how clever we've been with the people brought in. Chris Powell is looking like a genius - obviously picked up a lot from his years with Curbs and Sven.

I will never question anything CP does, if he wants to sign some ones nan, all i could say is , he knows and sees things others don't.
Well done CP, well done the team , and well done the support !! COYR
Right now, its great being a Charlton fan.

Support was terrific. 1200/1300?

They're as good as relegated!
