  • Chrissy has come on this season after a tough start and surpassed our wildest dreams - I am so happy for him. He has bought in a whole new team for not a lot of dosh and the quality of his signings have been immense. His whole team must take credit but after losing a legend in Curbs, I think at last we have found a new one.
  • I tried to say on the match thread that apprantley 'Kermit' is doing the business on the training pitch and making most of our other players look decidedly 'non-league' with his touches and finishing, running rings around them also. That is just what Kevin Hands and Steve Froggat were talking about just after he scored and had another chance.....CP seems to have picked up a gem here..that could potentially play at a higher level.
Need to watch his temprement though....he aimed a kick according to the commentary at a Blades player that the ref didnt see!!
I am so pleased we won today......CP maybe the new AC??????????? Win even when under the 'cosh' away from home.
    Roll on next week.
  • Sounds like a classic Curbs style away win - soak it up first half and quieten the crowd, step it up as the game wears on, nick a goal or two in the second half then see it out.

Our away form is hugely encouraging.

Still a long way to go, but we've played teams from the top, middle and bottom of the league and still sit clear top after the magic 10 game mark. Great start and reason to be cheerful. I'm not getting carried away though.

  • Great reading the match reports, thanks and keep them coming!

It has kind of crept up on me, but it appears that I am beginning to realise that we have quite a formidable defence this season.  Many, like KD above, have drawn attention to it and they deserve immense credit for doing such a great job given how few games they have played together.

Once more, some superb signings by CP.  How good is our scouting network?  On the basis of the dealings so far, it appears to be stonkingly excellent IMO.  How times have changed!
  • We have 12 games between now and 1st Jan.  Preston & Huddersfield @ home could be tough, but there is nothing to fear, except that the lack of fear creates fear itself!

Of the 36 points, I think we will be unfortunate to come away with only 28 points.

There is more to come from this team,we can improve on the field - better players to start,Green & Kermit, more consistency over 90 minutes, strength in depth - particularly Cort, Evina, Alonso. The management can improve as they already have been doing.

There will be some bumps along the way but there will be for our competitors too.
  • just got home.

It was a great team effort, everyone employed their part. After we had withstood the opening 20 mins we started passing it about an took the game over. In the second half once we had scored, and what a header by Kermo, we played some beautiful football  all over the pitch. The only person I would pick out from this performance is the manager for setting cup a team who play god football - it's a good few years since we did that.

    Right beer and dinner call
  • I'm sure Chris to taking it one game at a time. Looking good though.
  • Great Spirit in the sky give us good Indian summer with hot weather.

Charlton tribe with red and white war paint are on war path again taking many scalps from lesser tribes and take one big scalp today in the lands of the north.

All braves must come to next gathering at the Valley.

After the battle today I am now at sitting in teepee smoking peace pipe drinking firewater and wondering which squaw will be lucky tonight.

    COYR
  • I also didn't expect that result. Confidence in the dressing room must be sky high and we all know what that breeds. Well done oCP and the boys. COYR.
  •  a team who play god football
    Divine inspiration?

    :-)

    Marvellous
  • Only two teams unbeaten in this league - Huddersfield and ........................................
  • And Huddersfield are only unbeaten because they haven't played us yet!

Very good report from a United fan here.

Encouraging comments about the midfield, Stephens has been off the boil a little at times but today seemed to do everything he needed to.
  • That result stunned me , can't say I really saw it coming but laying sheff utd @ 6 to 5 covered my backing of preston @ 6 to 5......
Gauntlet thrown down to the rest of the league we are the team to catch and maybe someone will catch us by the end but I think two teams will struggle to
Defensively sounds like a monster performance and fairplay to em cos that's where my uncertainty over this team lay but having a decent goalie who sweeps up must give the back four confidence
    I love SCP
And kermo is chasing up paul hayes and green is keeping waggy on his toes and it all bodes well for the rest of the season

We're now 50 percent autos and 50 percent play off contenders ..... We will not be outside top 6
Top 6 will be Charlton , Hudders , Preston. Sheff Utd, Sheff Wed and MK Dons something like that order , you heard it here first

Read this report from a Sheffield message board, its quite long and some of the typo's are irritating but its a good read if too long then just read the paragraph on us.

Well written it sounds like someof our reports over the last few years.

Oh and here is a comment on our support from the thread

"Crowd/Atmosphere – Completely flat. Moved to the South stand this year and have to say maybe it seems noisier in the Kop but the atmosphere at games this year has been really poor. All you could hear the whole game were the Charlton fans that were excellent and very vocal. There was barely a peep from the Blades fans all game and after we went behind the groans and moans started. Many were leaving in their droves before the end of the game. United put on an offer for Schools/Help the Heroes but many will have been put off returning after that performance. It will be interesting to see what happens if we lose to Wednesday as Wilson has not really had any fans on his back but the recent lethargic and powder puff performances means the pressure is on him for the first time. Unsure how he can react in terms of personnel as it is not as if we have 4 or 5 players who you can say; ‘he deserves to start.’ The good start seems a lifetime away and the confidence seems to have ebbed away. The management team face a big week to get the players back on track."
  • Got there ahead of you Kap10 ;-)

Will be interesting to see whether we start with Kermit or continue with the 'Fairclough super sub' approach for the mo.. I'd also like to see more of Green, but understand reluctance to change a winning team.
  • The team only won today once Kermit had come on so on that basis he had to start next Sat
  • 58% Autos, 36% play offs, 6% Div 1 next year ................

  • Really pleased. Held our own and hit them with 2 quick goals. Credit must go to CP!
  • Think below play offs has to be 0% tbh
Not really, if you are willing to give me say 1 million to 1, I will then lay it off at a much lower price, but I agree it seems unlikely. By the way Corals make us 1/5 to be top 6 therefore according to them we are 5/1 to be outside the top 6, which expressed as a % is approx 16% so either they are being very generous with 1/5 (unlikely) or 0% is totally unrealistic QED...  ; )

    Just got back.

V proud to be a Charlton fan.

    Stephens and Solly (again) superb

    Kermit - Lethal

    Green - Quality

Big shout to BWP for his work to earn the corner that led to Kermit's goal.

    Fantastic result !
  • but have you factored in the theory of relativity?
  • From @Paul_raisey

The #cafc fans have drunk the 6:27pm from Sheffield to London dry of beer #RedArmy

    OohAah, what's goin on?

Where's Mr NewsShopper tonight digging out the supporters?

Brilliant result and as someone else said has the feel of the 2000 promotion season with Kins, Stuart dominating midfield etc

    Onwards!

  • but have you factored in the theory of relativity?
Lol, it is not 0% whatever you or anyone else says, but i can't wait until it is.
  • As a high flying executive, i momentarily succumbed to what is known in the game as a 'power nap', and resurfaced re-invigored and two goals to the good :-)
So we now know which of the seven dwarfs you are. ;-)
