Pick me up a pair of Chino's with an elasticated waistband ; )
  • I reckon we'll have 22000-23000
  • Reckon itl be possible to get a seat in the low west on the day?

My Gdad is just about to ill to come much more so I was thinking about bringing my mate down to the game. As I sit in the LW itd be good if I could just get him in and then he can use our other seat
  • Matt, ring the ticket office and explain the situation. You maybe able to just use your GDs ticket anyway.

    But do check.
  • Anyone can use any season ticket on Saturday.
  • Matt, don't ring the box office, just listen to Airman Brown.

Cant understand why we would get less for this game than Exeter last season, we are top of the league and unbeaten compared to being virtually out of the play off picture vs. Exeter
We were in the play-off picture before Exeter and had won four in a row

Should have done my homework on that but all in all we are in a better position, although maybe because it was more at the business end of the season it was more attractive.

I don't think sales should be affected by the poor performance last time, its a different team and everyone knows that. Hopefully Airmans right and with walk ups we will at least match the Exeter attendance (24,767), if not then it may be an indication that we have lost fans on the basis of last seasons poor run in and performances
  • its a different team and everyone knows that.
Do they?  If you're a lapsed fan or not even a Charlton fan at all you might not follow who's come in or left.
  • Everyone knows we have a new team? What about those who don't follow Charlton at all...
  • I've just wacked it on F365
  • Whatever floats your boat mate.

If they don't follow Charlton or have little interest in the club to the degree that they don't know we have changed the entire squad then I wouldnt expect them to attend the match anyway. But at least 24,767 should know

really?  Who do you think these extra people are?

Just reading this thread you can see that many who are coming aren't fans of the Club but are coming with friends who are.  Other's will be locals who fancy a day out with their families or see it as a cheap outing.

No problem with that at all.  That's how you win new fans long term.   But we need to realise that those of us who follow every transfer rumour with baited breath are in the minority.

  • True not every Charlton fan comes on here, alot like my Dad only get there news from the OS.

Also if they are that disinterested in Charlton they would have enjoyed the day out last time as there was 4 goals and they probably didn't care who won, so they might well be inclined to come back just for the day out.

Just out of interest, how many die-hard Charlton fans do you think we have ?

You would probably say 15,000 based on the last 2 seasons, and that in the Prem days we had 12,000 glory boys turning up to see cheap Prem football and opposition players......but if (and i know we arnt) we were to be relegated to League 2 our support would then drop again by maybe another 3-5000 leaving us with 10,000 for the first season or two, so the die hard figure would then drop.

So what is the definition of a die hard supporter ? Is it possible to identify a fan base when crowds fluctuate depending on success and failure ? Is a die hard fan someone who goes to all the games they possibly can, or do you think you can be still classed as a die hard fan if you follow the club but not be present at the matches ?

Its interesting as you have to take into account the death of supporters and the new recruits aswell. Its also possible that iv gone a bit too deep and you might have lost track of what the hell im going on about :)

Does that mean an adult can use an under 18s Ticket?
  • I personally say that you cannot judge a die hard fan by if they attend matches or not. For insatnce i have been a fan for the last 14 years (am 24 now). I have never once owned a season ticket. I normally attend around 5/6 games a year maybe slightly more some seasons. I have made the long treks to places such as Scunthorpe/Blackburn and Forest and listen to every game i am not at on CAFC player. I read this site every day without fail and would say i am a die hard fan. Just because you cannot attend every game it doesnt mean people arent dedicated fans. For the record i will be there tomorrow!
  • Good point John.

Choice I think your division between "die hard" and "glory seekers" is false.

There is a whole range of fans who support the Club in different ways such as John or the many overseas Addicks like Oggy.

Some go away, others don't.  Some go occasionally or when they can.  Still all fans in my eyes and none are "better" or more "real" than any other.

Yes, I checked with the ticket office yesterday.
  • Can I use a Dartford season ticket? ;-)
  • Do they take Oyster cards?
  • Out of date boarding pass?

  • Do they take Oyster cards?
Only if you remember to touch in and touch out
