Do people really think the weather will affect people's decision to attend?!
Yes. Fans on this mesage board tend to be hardcore Charlton fans who will attend rain or shine but the casual charlton fan with young kids the weather is a factor.
It's my Birthday next week so I sent out invites via facebook, email and text asking people to come and watch the mighty Charlton play and then join me for beers in the Cutty Sark after, it seems to have worked.

Of course it will, if someone doesn't support Charlton, do you really think they are going to come down to their valley with their 3 children in the pissing rain?
What about the people who wake up on Saturday to see it's a lovely day and think 'Oh I know, I'll take the kids out today, where can I go?'
By thinking the weather won't matter I believe you are assuming 100% of the people in home ends are Charlton fans. I don't think that will be the case at all.
I dunno, I'm not saying it definitely wont be a factor, just not something I ever think about when going to watch Charlton OR going to see a team I don't support as a neutral. Plus, if the weather is that nice then do you not think people would opt to do something more active in the sun, as opposed to sitting in an enclosed area for 2 hours?

Not going to be that hot but that proves the point that the weather good or bad IS a factor. Just because it's not a factor for you doesn't mean it's not a factor for others, many of whom aren't hardcore fan of Charlton or football in general.
Certainly if Charlton are away and Bromley (a mile away) at home I might not go if it is pouring down and I wouldn't have to worry about parking 10 minutes walk from the ground.
It was for my old man when he used to take me when I was a kid. I remember really wanting to a home game vs Notts County in 94 I think but it was peeing down so he said were not going. We listend to game live on capital gold instead and we won 5-1. I dont think I spoke to him for the rest of the weekend.

I always knew you were a fair weather fan Henry ;-)
Airman I thought Chesterfield would have sold more then 1000 by now?.I see 600 available to them on the day,1700 was the amount altogether.Say more then 600 Chesterfield turn up on the day will they be turned away?.

Not true, I love the cold weather as it gives me an excuse to wear a warm woollen garment of a particular type : - )

This is a similar pattern to our away sales for games that are not local. Most people who want to buy in advance do so early. We get a bigger matchday walk-up at The Valley than from our fans away because all clubs have some fans in London.
Police reckon Chesterfield will have a 2-300 walk-up on the day; neither we nor their club can offer a view. But if 1,000 turned up they wouldn't get in.

I reckon Toogood is going to be knocking tickets out outside the ground £7.50 a pop.
Fair play toogood. Hope a few of them come back again.
I assume that you couldn't find 36 seats together in the North stand at this stage?
