Thought the sending off ruined the game as a spectacle - Powell is a cautious manager - he won the game the low risk way where we probably wanted us to throw the kitchen sink at them. He was probably right though and his professionalism is showing through and it was a straightforward 3 points.
This proves that Powell is actually Curbs Mark II...
Listened to the game and was very pleased with the ball retention, patience and not panicking and pushing... the crowd sounded great, we really have some idiot fans if people were booing, it was clear we got bullied into playing into Sheff Weds hands on Wednesday and we basically kept giving the ball away... and S Powell really drilled it into the players heads to keep passing and moving and this time Dale got his goal from similar position but what was ultimately a much harder chance to convert...
As for Powell I am really starting to like him as a manager... he had a baptism of fire, with Crowds booing him and attacking the players after a good start and now we are starting to see his team gel more each week... BWP is just a cut above in this league, and the combination play with Hayes was fantastic for the first goal... Very deft touches from both players...
If we can beat all the so so teams then maybe when we play the "better" teams we will have the points in the bag. The better teams will"find us out". I dont think CP has a "plan B".
From an official's point of view the assistant has to be 100% certain it was over and it happened so quickly. I watched it about 20 times on Sky, the assistant has one chance. I, for one, have concluded the whole of the ball did not cross the whole of the line. There wasn't green between the ball and the line when Hamer put his hand on it. This doesn't excuse Nardiello's behaviour. There is a distinct difference between dissent (yellow card) and foul and abusive (red card). It's usually the two 'c' words, c**t and cheat. If either or both of those are mentioned and are heard by just more than an offical then they have option other than a red card. It's frustrating but you simply cannot do it.
Just watched the highlights on BBC sport website and (waggy's not going to like this) they said it was Stephens firsrt goal since his brace on the opening day. Thought they would have corrected this error by now.
It was certainly a weekend of odd decisions. The Norwich one was a shocker, but the worst has to be Hoylett. Schwartzer took him out as he ran towards the empty net and left him in a neck brace. Howard Webb decided to book the Fulham keeper. The worst possible decision, if he saw a completely accidental clash then it's an indirect free kick. If it's a direct free kick and a booking then how can it not be a clear goal scoring opportunity as he would have been past the keeper. As we saw at the WC Webb loves to bottle a decision. Hope the lad's OK, exciting player.

They may have been referring to his dental treatment on the first day of the season......
I thought it was a good performance we were patient we didn’t resolve to long ball tactics like when we played Sheff Wed, We never really looked in trouble and played well. Some of our fans were very annoying this guy in front of us was going absolutely mental at Powell and the players when we were 1-0 up it was as if we were losing not winning. I think Hamer is getting harshly treated seeing as he hasn’t had a much to do in the last two games. The only thing that concerns me is Wagstaffs lack of crosses and he tends to disappear for large amounts of the game, he does well defensively with Solly but cant remember the last time he put in a decent cross or actually took his man on, Once Green comes in I think Wagstaff will be a very good sub to bring on 20 minutes before the end to use against tiring defences.
Still pissed off today at the fact we had our own supporters paying there money just to boo us for keeping possession. We could have easily played like the other night and started hitting and hoping but we took a different approach that I cant remember us using for years. PATIENCE. Hope we carry on using this approach if we need to rather than lumping it up top hoping for the best. Then it's up to us to drown out the twats booing
Well, this debate has certainly kept me entertained at work today!
Not that I want the fun to stop or anything, but as said on Twitter on Saturday I can confirm that both controversial efforts DID cross the line. We're talking the whole ball in both circumstances, too.
There's not a single person or source of coverage that will convince me more than Brett Shaw, our video analyst, and his prozone technology which quite frankly is superb.
More alarming to me was the lack of urgency IMO from Hamer and the defender to get it away. They certainly looked a little casual in stopping it in a scenario you'd imagine hungry and competitive footballers to throw themselves at the ball to stop it rolling over.
A little tip to those who gamble, too - put your money on Dale Stephens for POTY. Not saying he'll definitely be the most deserving winner hands down come May, but between PA giving him Waggy's opening day goal and me mistaking him for Paul Hayes in BWP's assist, the early signs of a fix are in!
If you see the people booing tell them to shut the f**k up, can't believe people are still booing. Unbelievable.
Sorry, I don't agree with that as it's only likely to lead to a confrontation. Normally I'll support their right to boo if the performance is rubbish but it was nothing like that on Saturday and it was getting even to me.
I take the view that those booing on Saturday clearly know very little about the game and so I made it my mission to get behind the boys even more and point out the good stuff they were doing.
Out of interest, as we must have representative membership of our support on here, could one of the 'booers' from the weekend maybe explain why they did it? I'm genuinely interested in what they were thinking rather than setting up someone to have a pop BTW.
To boo in these circumstances simply means your a c*** .... end of story....
Not really very helpful Mascot when some of us are genuinely interested in why others felt Saturdays performance warranted them giving the team pelters.
I'm not a violent or confrontational person but enough is enough. I remember people booing in the Premier League days and ultimately driving Curbishley out.
It doesn't help, I can't understand why certain people think its a good idea...

Me neither. But sometimes I wish I was. When the 2 blokes behind me were having a pop at waggy, Hayes and even power for standing with his hands in his pockets. I wish I was able to turn around and just say shut the f**k up. I was looking forward to the game and enjoyed the 3 points but they put a big old downer on my day and made it less enjoyable which shouldnt have been the case. And when Morrison was under pressure from there striker facing hamer the bloke behind me said 'don't pass it back to the keeper'. Bloody numpty
Have just watched highlights as was in Italy for the weekend. My rather spurious conclusions, seeing as I wasn't there:
Whole of ball did not look as though it had crossed line for Exeter. Superb opening goal - Hayes worth his time on the pitch for that move alone - we don't have any other player as quick of thought and feet to set up an opening like that Waggy had a big part to play in second and went close at the end - let's not underestimate his contribution Good to see Stephens exorcise demons from Monday with a well-taken goal from a very similar position
Hayes is a clever player who can play intelligent and thoughtful balls- these are the type that can open up well organsied defences - Even the stuff that doesn't come off from him, you can see he is trying something - it isn't aimless. That sort of footballing intelligence is lost on a lot of our fans though.
