Described afterwards by Tony Pulis as 'not the sharpest tool in the box'!
And in the same breath, he went on to say that he was a really, lovely lad who had settled in well and got on with everyone.
Definitely a few tiles short of a full roof, who reacts to a bit of baiting, as well as giving it. I assume the demonisation is coming from the angels amongst us!
If one of our lot went up to fans of a former club and celebrated a win after he was getting a slagging we'd be happy they showed some passion compared to what we have right now where some of them just don't care. But then we haven't really got any players with former clubs in England right now from what I can see, unless Johnnie Jackson's playing.

Who do you reckon just doesn't care? I'd say Bauer, Makieok and Kashi have shown themselves to be really committed to the cause already and, the first two especially, seem to really like Charlton. Who's not bothered in your opinion? Genuine question
McLean says, ""If the poppy was simply about World War One and Two victims alone, I'd wear it without a problem...but it doesn't, it stands for all the conflicts that Britain has been involved in. Because of the history where I come from in Derry, I cannot wear something that represents that."
So wear it for all the World War One and Two victims and know in your heart you can't support that one exception. This video is much more meaningful when recalling the Irish troubles.
i don't agree with the iraq war. It was a war crime. But that won't stop me from wearing a poppy. The guy's an attention seeking knobber
To be fair, and I DON'T agree with him and many Irish republicans about this, the Iraq war was (for us) a war against a 3rd party, whereas the actions of the British Army had a direct impact on them. Derry was the scene of the Bloody Sunday massacre, so anything to do with the British army is sensitive, with the British Army seen as being too close to the Loyalist side.
It's a shame he can't find a compromise way of showing respect to the innocent war dead
At the end of the day its a shame that people have to do what everyone else does... Regardless if its wearing / not wearing a poppy as respect... whether they're Atheist / Muslim / Christian / Jew... White or Black... and that they dont get named called because of their choices.
After hundreds of years you'd have thought that the human race would have learnt by now... Dont tell me what to do, I wont tell you what to do... Its a simple sentence
As a British Legion member and a standard bearer, I am immersed in poppy charity fund raising, in fact it was our branch that initiated the planting of poppy seeds that got mentioned by Cameron in parliament last year. I Respect anyone's decision not to wear one, it is and always should be about choice, I don't agree with those who don't, but that's a different matter. Mclean though, poppy stance aside is a vile hypocritical stain on our society, violent thug on the pitch, hates all things British but happy to take the Queens shilling. Sorry, but if I felt that strongly about a country/monarchy/government and its history, there is no way on gods earth I would move there to earn money.
Anyone know how Kirk Broadfoots appeal to the 10 game ban went? Or was it swept too far under the Charlton Life carpet!!!!!! How dare Mclean give it to Supporters who abused him all game!!! In fact hang Paul Gallagher too for cupping his ear to the covered end yesterday!!!
Reading the Jermain Defoe thread got me thinking, despite having both a controversial career on and off the pitch Jermain Defoe is rightly being given credit for his love and affection towards young Bradley. A 10 seconds google search lead me to all these articles of which some I knew about and others was a first like helping the pregnant English girl. Is James Mclean as bad as he is made out to be? If so, what would make this evil man do these good deeds?

I think it just shows that very few people are entirely good or bad. They're capable of putting some thought into doing nice things, or being total arseholes in the heat of the moment. They're also capable of being kind on reflex and having a lot of time to think something through and still being a dick about it. And from there we pick and choose how much each thing affects us. It's how we choose our friends; nobody's perfect and we pick and choose elements of their behaviour. If you have really strong feelings about poppies, then I guess Mclean is just as bad as you think, if you're deeply affected by charitable acts then maybe you like him. Same with Defoe; this stuff with Bradley is lovely, but he's also been repeatedly hauled before the courts for speeding even after being banned, and if you've ever seen the effects careless driving can have on people's lives maybe you'll think he's scum. Your call really, there's no wrong answers when it comes to what you think of people. Personally I hate Kevin Costner. I can't even really remember why, but I know I'm right.

Completely irrelevant. He may do some charitable work but he's still massively disrespected Great Britain and disrespected all those who have fought for this country and other counties that use the poppy as a mark of respect and rememberance to their fallen soliders.
The issue is that each year he will do the continue to do the same and his 'reasoning' doesn't wash with me one bit.

He does have the right, as a British citizen, to express his opinion. And to 'respect or disrespect' whatever or whoever he wants. There is a massive overreaction to him and what he says and does.

Says man who has chosen to move to mainland Britain in order to earn millions of pounds.
Now if he decided that he wanted to represent England to win trophies and refused to sing our National Anthem, then I could understand your comment
