  • It's telling that many of those "offended" and "outraged" about this are the first to shout down others about "PC nonsense" "being offended on other people's behalf" "mock outrage" etc etc.

So it OK for you if it's something that you care about or relate to but not for anyone or anything you don't.

For the record I think McLean was and is wrong, it is disrespectful and uncalled for but he has that freedom in this country and thank gawd for that.

I'm not offended on anyone's behalf but my own, but thanks.

Yes it ok to get annoyed about something you care about and that is quite different to "mock outrage" and "being annoyed on other people's behalf", but thanks again.

That all goes without saying Henners, but why can't we still air our disgust at people like McLean and the geezer in the flag? I mean, we ain't chopping no ones heads off in the process are we

Not saying you can't. I'm saying you can and should voice your disgust.

But I'm also saying you and others should allow others the same privilege rather that accusing then of mock outrage etc when it is something you're not concerned with.

It's a very obvious double standard as PL54 has just proved. His outrage is real but other people's isn't.

Well, no its not because they are free to accuse me of mock outrage too, even though it ain't and we'll argue the point like we usually do
  • Who's 'other people'?

Did you have to edit and add the bit in about me ? How sweet.

    ..mark my words

  • I guess it is about how much you really care and were/are still upset re: events of the past. Clearly for Mclean he has issues with Britain/England etc, but then as others have pointed out, if he is that upset about it, then why choose to reside here. I think the hardest thing for someone to do is to forgive someone who has wronged you personally (or you feel they have wronged you personally). It takes courage but nothing moves forward otherwise. I don't agree with what he did, but then I didn't grow up as James Mclean.

I still hear it from my boss having slight digs at the Germans re: the war. He was close to his Grandad and his Grandad's twin brother died whilst fighting in the war. He told me that's the reason he doesn't like and will always hold a grudge against the Germans. I didn't lose anyone or know of anyone in my immediate family who lost someone as a result of the war, so maybe I would feel different, but holding onto these past feelings of hatred (70 odd years past now in regards to the second world war) seems strange to me.
  • Kirk Broadfoot has been given a 10 game ban after an alleged "sectarian tirade" against James McClean during a match last season.
  • This is a spoof? Not on paper's site.

Nope - been published in The Mirror too.

Eoin Morgan is the captain of our ODI National cricket team but refuses to sing the National Anthem. I think that is wrong; sing or fuck off you ginger twat.
Or is it Eion? Couldn't give a toss to be honest.
  • Apparently James has dressed up as a schoolgirl and gone to Syria so we should all just forget about him now and concentrate on these bloody north Africans coming in and taking over jobs previously held by the likes of Rhoys Wiggins and Morgan Fox! Personally I think they'll do a great job.

It's also on the BBC site so it MUST be kosher .. 10 games for an insult ? .. ridiculous, he might just as well have bitten him or at least given McClean a good kicking

  • Really surprised that more hasn't been made of the Kirk Broadfoot incident, surely to warrant a 10 game ban he's got to have done something worse than not respecting a national anthem.
  • Sectarianism is along the same lines as racism. I don't recall the punishment given for recent Premier League racism cases, but that would be your marker if you want one.
  • Apparently give it to the Sunderland fans at the end of the game and it kicked off small with other players and the Sunderland fans got the right hump according to sky
  • Never met the guy but he would appear from the available evidence to be a proper tosspot!
  • Barton Mark two!

I'm sure the precious Sunderland fans had spent the previous 90 minutes knitting and discussing Corrie among themselves
  • Can't stand the spotty prick
  • Barton Mark two!

I would put the current Joey Barton ten levels of class above this attention seeking scum.
