Claus Jensen , different gravy , someone who played the beautiful game beautifully Light years away from the third class shit we have to watch now And the only Charlton player I have actually seen play at a World Cup Finals (although I've only been to one Finals so that's obviously limited but I didn't get to see Ireland out there) Pretty sure he came on in Japan 2002 at ht or just after when England were 3-0 up , moments to be proud of And THE CHIP at Highbury, stuff that dreams are made of Still we'll all be talking about winning 1-3 at Orient with ten men in 10 years time........NOT
he was one of the best we've ever had - used to drive me nuts this idiot that sat behind me who bawled him out every game for not getting stuck in......well that fan must be happy now with some of the 3rd rate cloggers we've had who get stuck in but whose second touch is a tackle
and to continue the Claus Jensen comments, although he didn't put his foot in for tackles, he wasn't afraid to jump up with opponents for headers. I used to get pissed off though when curbs always seemed to sub him with approx 20mins to go if we were leading comfortably, but I guess that's the price you pay for having flair players in your side...oh those were the days....
Was annoyed by Racon last season, he didn't get played and then came on as sub and carved out 4 chances when we was losing with 10 mins to go in a home game (can't remember which one) Then, about 2/3 games later he starts, and doesn't have that edge about him at all. Think his a squad player at best for us and, like others, wouldn't be sad to see him go.
Bad news, wanted to keep Semedo again we seem to have a habit of having to replace our best players season after season.
Agreed but perhaps the fact that our best players are of an increasing poorer level, year on year, is the problem. Maybe a big squad change and new mentality is what's needed to break the downward trend. I hope he stays but it's not the end of the world.

True, we may have been blinkered the past few years. But I just remember back in January when we played Spurs and Semedo, to me, was the only player who when he got the ball looked comfortable and not out of place there.
He will need replacing, maybe not an out and out defensive midfielder but we'll need a few CM's in if we want to challenge this season.
They love him, but I thought this comment was going a bit far!
"I caught myself laughing and shaking my head in pure amazement on more than a couple of occasions while watching Semedo today, he's the classiest footballer I've seen at Hillsborough in a long time.
Who was the side after him in Portugal? I haven't got a clue how we got hold of him if he was playing like this for Charlton last season, he's embarrassingly good for this division."
I hope so. I have a feeling a lot of people will look to much into the signing for life thing then buggering off to much. For all we know he may not have fitted into CP's plans and didn't get a contract offer. I'll give him a clap for sure
He's a far better player than seems to have become the accepted wisdom on here and next Monday is going to be a tough test for us I think.
I hope he has a bad game and Hollands and Stephens run the show, but I also hope he gets the respectful welcome he deserves - was never less than a 100%er.
he mugged himself off with his comments about wanting to stay for life until a bigger wage offer came along
I respect him for what he did for us but that's as far as it goes. I don't expect loyallty from any footballers nowadays so I find it easier to deal with when they come up with that sort of tripe
but at the end of the day anyone who doesnt think any footballer whatever league theyre in(and we'd all be the same) isnt in it for their own best interests is as stupid as the charlton fans who warble on about the premiership mercenaries ..... they're all at it whatever level

lmao last week when they were loosing they were saying there midfield was a joke haha and he just ran around aimlessly fuking football fans make you laugh one result and it all changes fuking signing of season ye right
The guy was the best of a bad bunch here, there's no way he'd get into our team now and there's certainly no way he'd be able to play at championship level.
I'll still clap him for the effort he put in for us but I'm glad we don't have him here anymore.

See what I mean. No-one knows if he mugged himself off. If Powell wants to bring slick entertaining passing football to his charlton team would he want Jose to be part of that. I loved Jose but he doesn't fit into what we are trying to acheive so for all we know Powell didn't want to give him a new contract.

A bigger offer? It wouldn't have been hard to to be bigger than what we offered him................nothing!
If your contract had expired at your work and your boss made no attempt to try and keep you, but he was too busy running around signing up new employees, then wouldn't you look elsewhere?
That's the simple line. Powell didn't want/need him as he didn't fit in with the gameplan, which you can understand watching us play. Do you think Jose would fit in our system? The best he would have been offered would be as a back up player on back up wages, hence the reason of moving on.
Spot on tango. Unfortunatly a lot of fans wont see it this way and will boo him. Fair play to buckshee for saying he wont boo him but he deserves a clap for his 100% efforts for us. His gone and would never fit into our slick play now and CP could see that. Just hope others will too

Read a stat today that only 20% of Xavi's passes go forward.
That means Semedo is better than Xavi.

I'm waiting for powell to sign you...

The Owls certainly seem to be very impressed with Jose
