Yes - Managers have to lie - it's part of the job.
Would not be at all happy if he goes to a L1 rival. Even at £6k per week, that's £300k per season. Don't see us replacing him with anyone near as good for that kind of money.
If CP doesn't see Semedo as part of his new defence, then keeping him wouldn't be a priority in my opinion. In a ball on the deck 4-4-2 the manager may not have the luxury of time allowing him to experiment with trying to improve Semedo's game. Powell needs BOTH central midfielders being effective in the final third as well as being able to break up play. For far too long we have had one who can "play" but is ineffective in breaking up play and one who is effective in breaking up play, but who offers close to zero going forward ...................................... that needs to change. I appreciate Semedo's pluses, but the love in with his overall ability is way over stated by most, a good defender ? certainly, but a top league one dominant midfield player ? absolutely no, he was in my opinion outplayed by more of his opponents last season than not. I for one would be more confident of success for a Charlton team next season if Semedo isn''t part of the midfield.
She seems adamant it's happening still. Though to be honest I do doubt her now I guess I always should have her being Palace and all. I mean it's not like she's the O.S either!
But to replace a semedo would cost in excess of 400k in my opinion based on signings in league 1
then wages on top
this isnt a marmite player if you did a poll i reckon 80% of fans would rate him higher than most other holding midfielders in our league
This.
It's all very well saying we're not bothered if he goes, but we've got to replace him (Hollands & Jackson need cover & McOxo isn't good enough), and that will come at a cost. By paying a fee for a decent replacement we might actually shelling out more than if we were to pay Semedo more in wages.
Tricky one for the board though as appreciate why they need to cut the wage bill.
Surely he can do better than signing for another League 1 club. Hopefully, as others have suggested, he'll just use it as tool to get the best deal out of us.
The esteem in which people hold this fella amazes me at times.
I know it's not just him, but look at what has happened to us since we signed him.
Obviously i would love to see Semedo stay here. However, i would feel much more bitterness if he were to sign for Wednesday rather than Palace. By going to Palace, he's going to be playing in a higher league (it hurts, I know, but annoyingly it's the truth), but by going to Wednesday, shows that he is just interested in the money. Hopefully he sticks to his word and follows the 'I want to stay at Charlton for life' quote.

Bit harsh, he's been offered nothing more than a huge pay cut at Charlton. He's likely to be taking a pay cut at Wednesday but - significantly - much less of one. I'd quite like to stay in my job for a little longer, but wouldn't take a large pay hike to do it if I can do the same job elsewhere for more.

Definitely this! I loved the picture of T.C.E.s old dog!
Have a break from it all. The squad will slowly and steadily take shape over the next 2 months.

I said i was going to do this. It's not worked.
This site is more more-ish than crack to quote Superhans.
Ps. I'm 99% sure Semedo won't be here next season so a lot of this thread is redundant

Watch it Plaayer!
Bailey's of an age where he needs a 'Bitch' ; )
We'll be ok without Semedo, but he was our best player this year and would be an asset once again.
though i'll stick to my guns what i said a year ago, we won't see him play for us again.
