The single worst 'performance' I witnessed by a then Charlton player was Scott Sinclair's debut in March(?) 2008 He was 'only' 19 and had the misfortune to arrive with us in Pardew's tenure in the Championship. He had already played men's football at Chelsea, Plymouth and QPR He was visibly disinterested, barely even ran around, misplaced a pass or two and hysterically overacted when tackled After giving him an on field bollocking during that debut, Pardew still selected him another couple of times, off the bench, before he slunk back to Chelsea after barely a month.
His subsequent career demonstrated he was a player of some talent, but his appearance in Charlton red in SE7 was disgraceful, for me the worst. When I consider the amount of dross that has been served up in the years since, that showing remains the most ignominious I've seen in 38(ish) years
Just looked him up and he only played 8 games for us, thought he played a lot more than that.
He was dreadful - little surprise that he was matey with the anti football manager John Beck !!!
Seem to remember him being sent off during one game?
Dave, Can't remember what I did last week but I went to a Cup tie at layer road, Colchester about 40 years ago and I believe Shane Westley saw red ? I believe we won 1-0 ? Someone on CL will remember clearly 🙄

I think you might be right. I was at the game too and we definitely had a player sent off. The battered us but very late in the game Kevin Dickenson stuck a cross in that one of their defenders deflected into their goal. I don't think it even made it to the back of the net. Absolute pandemonium in a packed away end with planks of wood being passed down the front as the stand started to fall apart.
For some reason we walked round and stood behind that goal for the second half, absolutely right the ball never made it to the net. We got murdered and somehow won 1-0. I think the night before Killer walked out because we were bringing Flanagan back, although they patched it up later.

1984 3rd Round FA Cup at Colchester;
The own goal came through a pass back after the defender cut out the hopeful punt forward. He tapped it back but Alec Chamberlain had got too close near the edge of the box and ended up chasing after it in vain. Westley got sent off and we didn't have a shot all game, while they had masses of chances. Won 1-0.
Lost to Watford at home in the 4th Round and despite a huge 22,000 crowd, we went bust a few weeks later.
How about one of two 1980s centre halves: Steve Dowman or Nigel Gray. One of them managed to lob Nicky Johns with a superlative og Cant remember which one but they made Les Berry look like Beckenbauer.
Pretty certain it was Dowman against Sheff Wed.
To be fair it was a great finish, Johns didn’t stand a chance.

22k was the official attendance but there were more than that in the ground, it was packed.

He had a good career with Fulham.
