Value for money Amdy Faye, £2m and probably good wages . So uncomfortable on the ball and not that good at winning it either.
I'm sure someone said on here in the last few months they spoke to Dowie and he still insisted he still thought Faye was exactly what we needed at the time.
Dunno whether he's the worst player but he certainly ranks up there for worst stint in a Charlton shirt. As for Kish, there's no way he was the worst player ever but I do think there are some rose-tinted glasses on some of you guys here. Or have you forgotten the fact that he was usually dead on his feet by about 70 minutes or the horrendous number of times he was caught in possession in our own half? Don't get me wrong, I love the guy and thought he was generally excellent for us but let's not get carried away.
In terms of ability, sureley it has to be the likes of McOxo ? We may have paid more for others (Faye, Djimi etc) and pound for pound they might have been worse investments, buy you can't seriously suggest Alan McCormack is a better player than them ?
Whoever the next player we sign is. I've decided he's crap already and won't give him any chance or bear in mind that he's a league 1 player bought on the cheap/free transfer.
Chirpy asked "where's Len?" Ignoring an obvious wind up, of course : - )
If it wasnt for him i would say Bryan Hughes. I know quite a few like him on here but i watched him warming up at half time once and it was comedy. He couldnt pass 10 yards, he couldnt control it. His shots were in the crowd 9 times out of 10. The speed of a turtle after smoking some of the herbal medicines aswell
Tahar El Khalej only played, what, three games for us though. I barely consider him to have been a Charlton player. When I think about the number of points we lost due to Hasselbaink not running for a loose ball or Amdy Faye not being able to do anything, and then think about how that led to our relegation and the mess we're in now, El Khalej doesn't even figure. Really thinking about it though, in terms of players who I just genuinely wanted to punch in the face it has to be Lee Cook. he only played nine games but I've never seen anyone care about anything less than Cook cared about playing for Charlton. I put more effort into a kick about on a Saturday morning when I'm hungover, and I've got a lot less to gain from it. He knew he was going back to QPR where he's still a legend, and he just didn't feel like running or crossing or any of that boring winger stuff. Part of our lowest ebb in recent memory. In terms of money spent McLeod for over a million has to be near the top.
but in recent times cosistently poor players for cafc francis, mcormack but relative to value fat lazy JFH ,amdy faye (wdnt get into most sunday sides),djimi troare
in former days
gary churchhouse, alan dugdale ,peter shaw (but at least they didnt steal a living from us as above )
Amdy Faye was stand alone one of the worst footballers i've ever seen. I couldn't believe the guy played international football and in the premiership when his technical ability was, and is, so woeful.
Take your pick from this years team. However for the player we all know he could be it has to be Hasselbaink. Real lack of effort that epitomised that team.
I actually thought Faye started well, and was really good against bolton I think - he ended up at centre back, as we got our first win under Dowie. He trailed off and lost his confidence, and got booed off against Liverpool, when nobody stood out. Last time I saw him was in a league cup game, and by then he was a shell of a player. JFH on the other hand never gave a toss, so for me he is worse than Faye
lee harmsworth (i think that was the keeper who let in 5 against man city in his only appearance)
If you are going for dodgy keepers, what about Ron Willis? He was carried off injured just after half time in his one and only game against QPR in 1968 when we were losing 2 nil (from memory). Keirs went in goal and we ended up drawing the game!

What makes me laugh about the Kishishev comments is that Semedo isn't fit to lace his boots and half of this forum adore him.
But hey, we've got a really good song about him (well it's actually Jorge Costa's) so let's move on....
ps my take would be a close call between Amdy Faye and Traore.

Faye / Traore / Pouso / JF Moneybanks, isn't there a common link there?
your starter for 10 no conferring!!!
Im going with El Khalej

Still El Khalej pips him though

Sam Bartram - 623 appearances and no goals. The stats speak for themselves.
