if they have been watching for the last few months and they have any clue whatsoever they will sack him now - i can't see why they would wait - surely they have it all lined up - i'm not swollowing any of that ' we'll sit down and see what Phil needs lark' Todays game jhas made it a lot easier to dowhat i think they itend anyway - i think they were hoping to get him to resign next week (by forcing players on him), now i just think they'll accelerate it and sack him if he doesn't throw a tantrum and walk out. How many times does he need to be booed off this season? We are utter rubbish at home and you can guarantee the away victories will also dry up as the business end of the season approaches.
cant expect to get a new manager and get promoted in his first season. cant see it happenin. because the new manager would need alot of time to get used to the players he has and that would take at least a couple of months. i would keep parkinson until the end of season and if we arent up or at least get to the play-off finals, then we sack parky on the day the season finishes so that the new manager can come in and do a job in the transfer window and have alot of time to do whatever he needs to do in june/july/august.
two options they either back him now and let him spend a fair bit in this window or get rid now, then give a new manager a week or so to assess what we need to buy in his opinion (although we can get a striker in now though)
[quote][cite]Posted By: UP...THE...ADDICKS[/cite]King Curbs or Jiminez old mate Poyet should be made priorities
DiCanio, Hughton, Sousa, Megson should have enquirys made
and dare I say it Dennis Wise could do a better job[/quote]
sooner wise than any of that lot. We need a manager who knows the english market and league back to front. Megson possibly but no way any of the other 3.
Parkinson has acheived little in his career; a play-off win at Colchester, terrible record at Hull and two relgations here. He will never get a job in football again with that record.
[cite]Posted By: WSS[/cite]Seemingly, with the takeover, getting promoted is not as essential (in a financial sense) as it was a month ago. For that reason I can see Parkinson's staying for the remainder of his contract.
Despite what people think we are still very much "in the mix" in terms of promotion - we're not miles off like Norwich were when they got rid or in the relegation zone like Brighton were or ludicrously under-achieving like Southampton.
I think we should go for someone new if the RIGHT person is available and I don't want to spend another season in this godforsaken league but I'm almost certain PP will be here come May.
league position wise we may be in the mix, realistically we aren't - a new central midfield and a striker may give us a chance but i wouldn't want parky choosing them
[cite]Posted By: WSS[/cite]I don't want to spend another season in this godforsaken league but I'm almost certain PP will be here come May.
Really hope you are wrong that they won't get rid of him, WSS.
As you say , despite everything we are ''still in the mix'', which is why they should move NOW before we slip another three points down the table (which by the way, would put us in 10th or 11th place).
Slater seemed to be saying they already had lined up their transfer targets before they've even spoken to Parky , so they're serious. And their ambitions for the club need a serious manager, not the inept character Richard Murray has foisted on the new owners as the legacy of the fourth of his disastrous misjudgements since the fateful day he decided to turn the Charlton managership into a game of speed dating.
so we stay with Parky -----why ? * he was Pardews number two-----------but wasnt anything to do with ---well anything. * He would be judged on results as caretaker-----------------but he lost everygame. * He would be given time-----------------we went down 13 points adrift. * It wasnt his team------------------we didnt go up * His own team----------------------we are piss poor.
but the reason to keep him is the "new guy" wont have time ? ----------what time is this then ? the time that should have run out for Parkinson at the end of his caretakers fiasco.
[quote][cite]Posted By: WSS[/cite][quote][cite]Posted By: UP...THE...ADDICKS[/cite]I'm led to believe Peter Varney really doesn't like Parky... I don't think it'll be long[/quote] And Richard Murray does like him.[/quote]
dont think RM will be calling the shots though WSS, as I suspect the reason Dennis Wise has been at the matches is to give feedback to Jiminez and Slater, I would expect his reports not to be very complimentary and I'm with NLA he will be gone soon.I don't think it will be this week as it's extremely bad PR to come in and sack the manager after 1 game, but it won't be long.
NLA said.. alrite mate good to meet you again tonight
well that was worse than we expected
he will be sacked i dont doubt that if he wont be sacked then i expect the board to supply a shed load of players and back him to the hilt
the latter wont happen the first one must
the bloke is killing us as fans and the football is dire
my son really wanted to come today first time in ages wanted to come wanted to be with me at charlton the spark was still there
"Dad i aint coming no more they are clueless hoofing a ball forward to no one, 2 free headers we aint allowed to do that on saturdays
Yep good to meet you Daz....at least properly now.....I already knew what the back of your barnet looked like and nice to see you again Uncle and pleased to hear JonJo is happy.
I feel a bit like Im having the life slowly sucked out of me at the moment.....Im almost (and I say almost) happy that I didnt get a Spurs ticket...there is only so much embarrassment Im willing to put myself through, Id hate that to be the straw that breaks the camels back. Im a bit speechless really, but my worry is how many fans will keep sticking in there? seeing the stadium gradually empty is almost as galling as watching a Parkinson team....close to calling it a day and thankfully I'll get a break in Feb.

Seven days ago CL was in near meltdown in fear of Dennis Wise. Now more than a few posters on here are begging the new owners to get him on board quick , so we can show Parkinson the exit door!

on the basis of the job he did at millwall and the fact that he's a nasty little bugger but a winner - on that basis i'll take him and would have done a week ago.
i have been behind keeping stability at the club, but performances have been on the slide for weeks. it can't really be just the players can it? this team has ripped into sides 'at times' this season and managed a very good unbeaten run. if that run had lasted another 5-6 games i doubt these comments would be on here tonight. as actors often say, 'your only as good as you're last performance'. well i think parky has been giving an average performance in his role as football manager, but will that be enough to keep his contract? i would like to know from the owners what their target is for this season. if they are happy to let it run and let parky go at the end of the season, they pay his wages and it's their money they are risking!
i have 2 hospitality tickets for spurs and not one of my family or friends who go week in / week out want to go (i'm not that bad company, honest) - i have another mate who has seats in a box at spurs he can use and he has the same reaction from his friends. Fans, long standing cannot stomach watching this dross any more. We would all have gone to games as close as Colchester and Brighton normally but not this year - we have no belief in this side and the quicker the new regime swing into action the better. Looks like i may have to take the wife to spurs - need i say more.
I think Slater will be true to his word and Parky wont be sacked, certainly not anytime soon. He will be given some money to spend in this transfer window (£1m tops) and if we don't make the play-offs then as his contract is up in the summer he will be let go then.
sorry peeps, but just don't think Slater/Jininex have seen just how woeful we are & will put this down as a blip.
[cite]Posted By: boogica[/cite]wise brought in as director of football ,him and parky wont get on, parky gets relieved of his duties wise takes over as 1st team manager .
fancy this could happen sooner than later?
Hope so. They've boxed themselves into a unecessary corner by pledging to support Parky, and must already be regretting those words. So they now have to make Parkinson's position untenable. Refuse all his transfer targets and impose their list on him If he's got any self-respect he will then walk. If he sues for constructive dismissal, so what? He's only got a few months to go, anyway, so it's not going to cost much.
But I'd still favour Slater/Jiminez taking a leaf out of the Lib Dem/Coalition book of excuses : ''we didn't know how bad the deficit was on the training ground and in the dressing-room until we got here, so despite our ealrlier manifesto commitments, we've been forced to change our minds.''

exactly you hate him when he is somewhere else but like Robbie Savage when he is your own he'll do.

haven't seen us rip into a team at home all season.
To be honest, I would welcome even Dennis Wise as our new manager because we just need to get rid of Parkinson before all the fans have died of boredom and/or embarassment because this season has mostly been like torture.....for some of the diehards on here to be saying that they are starting to contemplate a life without Charlton because life with it is too painful, then that sums it all up for me.
Comments
what was that all about
we need to score put 3 strikers upfront (yep i got that bit phil)
take off a defender (yep i got that bit)
Put Semedo centre half (WTF you have now lost me parkinson what are you fuking doing)
result
all players confused all fans confused swindon town laughing their balls off
DiCanio, Hughton, Sousa, Megson should have enquirys made
