  • [quote][cite]Posted By: TEL[/cite]They won't sack him. Slater made much about continuity in his opening interview. I think with many of the same names in the background we can expect much of the same as we have already seen. If we had anywhere near 14,000 in that ground then I really am a monkey's uncle. What we need now is a massive culture change at Charlton, they are quite literally boring me to death.[/quote]

agreed bored senseless, my son tells me the best thing about charlton are the hotdogs, thry are priced alittle over the top but he enjoys them,so I don't mind.
  • If I was Mr Slater there is no way on Earth I would give Parky any of my money at all after that crap
  • keith moon would do a better job

If we're gonna make a change then for me its Sousa or Hughton or nothing because the thing I am most of afraid of is that if Parky goes we'll get in a rubbish replacement who will be no better.

[cite]Posted By: Sparrows Lane Lion[/cite]Paul Trollope? Ronnie Moore? Keith Hill?
Ronnie Moore would be great, Trollope no, Hill hard to tell as he hasn't been managing for that long.
  • Of course he should go and of course he sends the players out there week in week out to hoof the ball and see what scraps come of it. If he didn't he wouldn't just stand on the touch line not saying anything. If he didn't he would not play the players that ignore what he says every single week for two years. He is devoid of any solution to the problem therefore he is part of the problem and as manager should be held accountable. He's being given chance after chance after chance and we have not seen any improvemeny in this team since he had control. Oh and before anyone says anything thi is HIS team, he cant blame this on having otherpeoples leftovers. Bye Phil i wasted my hard earned cash watching that shite tonight so thanks for that.

alrite mate good to meet you again tonight

well that was worse than we expected

he will be sacked i dont doubt that if he wont be sacked then i expect the board to supply a shed load of players and back him to the hilt

the latter wont happen the first one must

the bloke is killing us as fans and the football is dire

my son really wanted to come today first time in ages wanted to come wanted to be with me at charlton the spark was still there

"Dad i aint coming no more they are clueless hoofing a ball forward to no one, 2 free headers we aint allowed to do that on saturdays"
  • By the way i've said it before and i'll say it again Martin Allen. I really dont think he would have stood there with his arms folded saying nothing tonight
  • Di Canio/Chris Powell combo??

The football down there has been the same for years, Oh for the days of 98/99/00 where we played with "wingers" and players who played for the shirt and competed every game

  • Should never have been given the job, should have been sacked half way through last year and certainly at the end of it. Get rid ASAP. Seems like a nice bloke who I could go down the pub with but as a manager he is useless, tactically inept and completely uninspiring.

He is completely out of his depth and we are in League 1!

I just hope the new owners don't ask Murray's advise when picking our new manager.

Problem is how many of our precious little players could deal with being shouted from the touchline during a game? Most of them can't handle an occasional groan from the crowd.

  • No *decent* manager would take us on with the squad of rubbish we have in this squad.

The only one I can think of who is realistic is Andy Scott at Brentford.
  • i expect to see dennis wise in by sunday

True. But i bet Norwich, Brighton and Southampton fans are glad their boards never thought that.
  • It's been proved that getting out of this division can be achieved by playing football. Parkinsons continual persistence with hit and hope football could also do the trick. However. Should we hit the jackpot and get up with PP does anyone actually believe you could take this single tactic into The Championship and not get murdered ? Get rid now and save us more embarrassment and get back to actually playing football and see where it takes us.

  • It would surely take a turnaround of Nick Clegg proportions to sack him this week though wouldn't it? I mean, ok if Slater came in and said "Right, new owners, new start, everyone has a clean slate and a chance to impress from now"... but he didn't, he praised Parkinson and all his quotes have included reference to Parkinson spending money and hinted towards continuity.

He just isn't going to get the sack after today.
  • Did someone mention Chris Hughton , with Chris Powell as his assistant?

Parky could go for the Preston job , at least it would look like he hadn't been fired , but we will have to move soon , i have really wanted Parky to do well , but i can't believe how bad we were tonight , it looks like something is fundamentally wrong at the moment , we seem to be going backwards again , looking at tonights performance , we'll be lucky to make the playoffs this season , without significant changes to the playing staff ( and coaching).

If there is any spare cash to spend Mr new owners please can we have a coach to coach our strikers please? we have been crying out for 1 for years!
  • Was it the Preston chairman who said they'd already had 40 applications? Is there anybody out there (not called Dennis Wise) who might apply? Sam Allardyce?
  • That's my lot ... can't put myself through that any more.

let's take our centre half off and play three at the back, and watch the players flap their arms about not knowing what they should be doing.
  • [cite]Posted By: Clem_Snide[/cite]
Stunned by that to be honest. That was way in excess of the shite we saw against Brighton.

If he is going to be removed Mr Slater needs to act now. He has clearly lost the majority of the fans and I believe something is wrong in the dressing room. We have good players who seem unable to pass 5 yards, control a ball and who seem unwilling to fight it out at home.

    Agreed.

Slater should sack him tomorrow, because after watching that , Preston and Burnely will surely have lost interest in him so he won't be going of his own volition. We just keep on getting worse.

Every time I see us play this season I think,''This is horrible, something has to change.'

Then after a day or two, one calms down a bit, starts looking forward to the next game, hoping things will be better.

The siren voices of the Parky fan club on here also have an effect. They claim we did really well getting a point against 10 men at Brighton or a point against 10 men at Colchester, or whatever it happens to be. In one's heart, we all know it's nonsense. But one cannot help thinking, 'OK, fair enough. We're still in a play-off place. Give him a bit more time.'

But time has surely run out. Today we were more clueless than we were v Brighton or Walsall.

You can carry on looking up the table at the automatic promotion places if you like and bleat that we're only three points off second place. The reality is we are also only three points off 11th place - and nearly all the teams behind us us have a game in hand.

We've got three points from our last five games and we last won a league match on Nov 20. It really is time for a change. The new owners have to be smart enough to see that, surely?

If they sack him this week, as they should, then the bad weather and postponements of recent weeks can be turned to our advantage. - four games which under Parky would have produced very little, but which will now take place later in the season, hopefully under a new manager.
  • He has to go - we have no further need to be patient now - the football this season has been abysmal and last year weren't much better. if this new lot are serious they will get rid.

Seemingly, with the takeover, getting promoted is not as essential (in a financial sense) as it was a month ago. For that reason I can see Parkinson's staying for the remainder of his contract.

Despite what people think we are still very much "in the mix" in terms of promotion - we're not miles off like Norwich were when they got rid or in the relegation zone like Brighton were or ludicrously under-achieving like Southampton.

I think we should go for someone new if the RIGHT person is available and I don't want to spend another season in this godforsaken league but I'm almost certain PP will be here come May.
  • If parky shows no passion during 90 minutes on the sideline, i bet he is doing likewise at halftime too.
The boys never come out all guns blazing 2nd half.
  • King Curbs or Jiminez old mate Poyet should be made priorities

DiCanio, Hughton, Sousa, Megson should have enquirys made

and dare I say it Dennis Wise could do a better job
  • Murray's record on selecting duff managers:

    Iain Dowie - Sacked
    Les Reed - Sacked
    Alan Pardew - Sacked
    Phil Parkinson - Sackable
