I'll say that as someone who has had the mis-pleasure of meeting him he is an arrogant, self centred sod who ignores his mistakes or criticism and just moves on but...
I think he will do well at Newcastle if he gets through the first couple of games.
He gives good "quote" and will be given an easy ride by the press for that reason. And soon the fans will start to like him too when he tells them what they want to hear. Worked at Charlton if you are honest enough to think back.
And players seem to like him as long as he's not shagging their wives.
I think if you have some success at some point of your managerial career, this will always give you a chance of a job, even if you have failiures afterwards. Pardew is definitely benefitting from the period he got West Ham up and to the cup final. Curbs took his employer to a tribunal and that has damaged him - he has also stated he won't take any job which is probably what he needs to do to get a bigger job but hey i'm sure he is doing alright
Given Pardew claims that his biggest strength is player recruitment (which we know to be utter bollocks), he and Newcastle will be in even more in trouble.
Becoming increasingly embarrased by my home town team. Not only sacking Chris Houghton, maybe not a big name but a stable manager who has then playing competitively they are employing someone who has been sacked from many clubs - cannot understand what is going through the minds of Newcastle Management. I predict another payday for Pards in 9 months
"Ashley - I want a manager who will buy clever"
Pardew " I bought Luke Varney from League 1 and now he is scoring in the Prem, I am so good at buying clever."
Bang, bang - the sounds of a charlton fan being hit as he is about to say "McLeod, Moutakill, Sinclair, Dickson, Primus........."
[cite]Posted By: WSS[/cite]If he had joined us when we appointed Les Reed (I know it wasnt possible) I think we would've stayed up in the Prem.
No chance, he couldn't keep us up in the championship. I admit to also thinking that after we were relegated, but with hindsight...
Pardew attracted just 14 votes in a local newspaper poll of Newcastle fans on who they wanted as the new manager.
Indeed, Chris Hughton, who was sacked on Monday, received more backing in the online survey by the city's paper, the Evening Chronicle, with 6% of the votes.
Out of more than 1,000 responses to the poll, Pardew claimed less than 2% (14 votes).
97-98 C Caretaker manager of reading for 7 days Reading (tier 2) are relegated.
99-00 C- Reading 10th (tier 3). Having taken over as manager in September Alan only managed to get Reading, a recent tier 2 team with strong financial backing, up to 10th in the table.
00-01 C+ Reading 4th (tier 3) play off defeat. Again Alan cannot achieve promotion for Reading despite the large funds (in relation to most tier 3 teams) at his disposal.
01-02 B Reading 2nd (tier 3). At the third attempt Alan manages to get Reading back into the division where he first managed them, albeit he only scraped to automatic promotion by 1 point over 2 other teams with smaller budgets.
02-03 B Reading 4th (tier 2) play off defeat. For the first time in his management career Alan gets his team slightly above where his budget would place him.
03-04 D- West Ham 4th (tier 2) play off defeat. Despite having a budget that dwarfed every other team in the division, Alan can only manage 4th and fails to achieve the minimum requirement for a team of this size of promotion.
04-05 C+ West Ham 6th (tier 2) Play off victory. The huge funds available at West Ham produces an even worse league position (worthy of an E) however this is somewhat salvaged by the play off victory thus achieving West Ham’s minimum requirement.
05-06 B+ West Ham 9th (tier 1). For the second, and only other, time in his whole career Alan manages to place his team slightly above his budget.
06-07 F West Ham 20th (tier 1)(Sacked). Worst run of defeats for 70 year for West Ham.
F Charlton 19th (tier 1)(relegated). Only one task required when taking over at Charlton, climb the one position to get out of the relegation zone. Failed.
07-08 E+ Charlton 11th (tier 2). Alan again has a budget in the top 3 of the division where promotion is the minimum expected and again fails to deliver.
08-09 F Charlton 23rd (tier 2)(Sacked). With Charlton still one of the biggest spenders in the division and sitting in the relegation zone Alan is finally removed.
09-10 D- Southampton 5th (7th after points deduction) (tier 3). Alan is again given one of the top 3 budgets in the division and again fails to achieve promotion.
10-11 F Southampton.(tier 3) (sacked) Starting the season as odds on favourites due to a massive budget for this division Alan finds himself in the bottom half of the table and is dismissed.
Cortese on Pardew sacking: "I have no regrets over sacking Pardew. There were lots of reason why it came to the sack. With Pardew we were missaing all the attributes that Adkins has brought. He has brought humanity."
A brief extract from an article I found when researching this strange turn of events (link below).
What caught my eye is in bold - amunition for the Parky Out brigade?
"So, Pardew led Southampton to Johnstone's Paint Trophy success at Wembley last season? Big deal. So he had the albatross of a 10-point deduction to carry for the entire campaign? Again, no cigar.
Even without such an impediment, they would have only made the play-offs in a division shockingly low on quality and where any decent manager would have walked his side into the top two."
Even if you can't stand them, you have to feel *some* sympathy with Newcastle fans. Utterly incredible. Those two are so well suited, I truly hope they fall flat on their faces.
Mark Holmes journalist on Teamtalk describes Pardew as follows: -
"Pardew has enjoyed some success in the Football League, but he's not exactly a proven winner; in fact the only thing he is proven to be is an arrogant, big-mouthed and egotist. The main thing he has experience in is rocking the boat - and that's exactly what he'll do at Newcastle".

Southampton fans: News Alert-Chairman Nicola Cortese has today broken his silence. Stand by for exclusive BBC interview.
"Mr Murray? It's Mike here from Newcastle F.C. I would like a reference about one of your previous managers. A Mr Alan Pardew."

"hello...??"
Will never happen, but apparently they'll give the new manager 5 full seasons in charge (with little to spend on players)
Given Pardew claims that his biggest strength is player recruitment (which we know to be utter bollocks), he and Newcastle will be in even more in trouble.
i mean he sucked most of our gullible dreamland fans into believing he had a 2 year plan here
clown shoes
I'm already looking forward to offering him a warm reception next year.

Not sure whether he means humility?

Quite surprised by this, I thought they would go with someone with a little more success.
He'd be better off signing no-one than replacing what they've got with League 1 players. But he won't be able to help himself.

Couldn't of put it better myself.
No, Humanity seems about right!
