Southampton fans seem to like Pardew, he did okay there but I always of the opinion that the wheels were going to fall off this season.
Funny the Newcastle boards statement:
Newcastle United Football Club have today parted company with manager Chris Hughton. Goalkeeping coach Paul Barron also leaves the club today.
The board would like to place on record their thanks to Chris for his considerable efforts during the club's transition from Championship to Premier League football.
Chris has shown exceptional character and commitment since being appointed manager in October 2009. The club wishes him well for the future.
Regrettably the board now feels that an individual with more managerial experience is needed to take the club forward.
The task of appointing a new manager now begins. An announcement will be made shortly regarding transitional arrangements pending the appointment of a successor.
So they pick Pardew? I'm sorry but is common sense actually non existent in people nowadays? Everyone bar Ashley and Pardew thinks this is a bad appointment
On Betfair you can get 5.5 on Newcastle to be relegated. Watch that tumble when Pardew is confirmed. Liverpool (H), Birmingham (a), Man city (H) and Spurs (a) all to come before the new year. Can't see more than 2 or 3 points there. The players won't like him, the fans already hate him. They're going to struggle.

I wish I'd been an arrogant clueless football manager.
I could have been living very comfortably by now.
From what I have read Ashley is looking to appoint someone on a contract that will be rewarded for success as his Exec's get in his other business. Also the contract will have no big payout for when he fails and get's sacked.
The reason he was sacked from Southampton was he was up to his old tricks, and his assisants were making alibies for him hense thats why they got the sack, this has come from someone who is a coach for under 15's at the club
Just been speaking to a Geordie in my Office who drives up to a few games, he did not realise how Bad Pardew was till I let him know his recent 'achievements'. He has made a few calls up North & the word is Pards is definately the man brought in. Oh Dear
WoW... It seems newcastle are showing a real sign of intent with this move, and there was me thinking they might just be happy to consolidate with staying in the prem on their first season back. How wrong was i, that ashley fella is serious about making newcastle a force in the premiership after all... maybe they could push on for europe now???
Jut been announced on Radio 2 at the end of the 11am news. Pardew to be named manager within next 24 hours, they even mentioned his past 'failures' (my words)....Reading, West Ham, Charlton ans Saints.....must be true then!!! God help the Toon!!
Comments
he will f*** up royally up there...
and Hughton has done a very good job in deed in my view...
Appaling treatment for him...

I've seen a lot of Southampton fans (on the League One boards) worrying about him pilfering the better players from their squad.
It seems he won't learn - and neither will Mike Ashley

Jobs for the boys[/quote]
Perhaps Pardew won the job - at Craps....?
Alan Pardew is set to be named as the new Newcastle manager within the next 24 hours, BBC Sport understands.
If I had performed as he had I would be out of work ... yet in football it seems to be a plus that he is always 'moved on' , same as Dowie.
Complete joke.
No surprises there.
I wonder how talks with Martin Jol 'broke down' - most probably Ashley being a twit
Lumping on! (at least a fiver!)
Plenty apparently... not as a football manager though!
