  • no it never seemed a good idea mutley, well to some on here it did
  • [cite]Posted By: American_Addick[/cite]How can Richard Murray continue to back Parky against all reason?

Like Nero fiddling while Rome burns ...

Has Richard become so gun-shy from the follies of Dowie, Reed and Pardont that he can't pull the trigger when all evidence says that he should?

I think money and pride have more to do with it than being simply afraid.
  • well, over 330 votes and over 70% think he should go within 3 games if nothing changes.
  • Well Parky is promising changes- I hope he means tactical changes and not just personnel changes. Carlisle away is tough but under the circumstances I am expecting more possession and chances than them and from the start -not letting them blitz us then recover. I am expecting Parky discovers a way to get bodies in the box in the sort of numbers that gives opponents something to worry about. This is the point where for his sake- he and the team need to step up. If we play and set up as we have done for other away games this season, a defeat will be the most likely outcome.
  • So PP is changing tactics ? So back to the drawing board because his original tactics if that's what they can be called were useless. Game 13 and we start from scratch. He's starting to sound desperate to me.

When you find yourself in a hole and need to get out, it is only logical to stop digging.

Murray needs to take away Parky's shovel and turf him out.

The longer that he waits, the deeper the hole gets, and the harder it becomes to climb back out.
  • Well 2 games is reasonable- Parky has a final chance - Maybe the proverbial rabbit can be pulled from the hat. I hope it is however unlikely that outcome is. Just hope if it isn't that he goes down fighting rather than stick with the away formula that has already been discredited.
  • personally I think the poll suggests that 70% of fans don't want Parky to go but if the next couple of games end in defeat then more will feel he has to go
  • I think the fans have already sealed Parky's fate, don't you?
For whatever reason, last weeks game against Brighton was seen as pivotal and Parky failed the test big-time.
The straw has broken the camels back; even for those who like myself thought he was doing a reasonable job in very difficult circumstances.

Today the players will either respond and pull a result out of the bag or wilt and succomb to the pressure and expectation.
Either way I suspect Parky fate is sealed; a win will just delay it as the anti's wait for him to slip up again.

    Am I happy about that?
    I really don't know!
Part of me still believes we can mount a challenge, despite recent evidence to the contrary.
Besides, when I look at the names on the Parky replacement thread well, Christ - from the tragic to the laughable.
At least Parky has some experience of getting a team promoted.

However, as I say, I think it's all academic, because the fans are lost and I don't think they'll be turned.

I wonder how many are secretly hoping for a couple more defeats and a swift execution?
Be careful what you wish for
  • I think we win next on Saturday - Parky's position gets stronger (we would probably be in the play off places). If we drew today after being 3 up he could have gone. If he turns this round it would be the best bit of brinkmanship ever. We mustn't forget that it isn't professional to go 3-3 from 3 nil. We need to keep our game going, not sit back - I think that is a confidence issue with the players more than Parky probably. If we sit back we concede - lets use that as a starting point from here on in.

  • Do the 98 who voted for Parky to get the chop before the Carlisle game now agree that was premature?

And do the 142 who were willing to give him 2-3 games agree that six points out of six clearly means he should keep his job?
  • Credit where it's due I say. The players are playing for him. End of story for me.

    Absolutely no.

    Yes Chizz
But I suspect we may be in a minority when the next defeat comes along
  • So when is Kingston finally going down to one of the 2 pubs in Greenhithe to have his chat with Parky on a thursday night?
  • Credit where it is due but we were very lucky to leave Carisle with 3 points, could have easily lost that game- that would have put enormous pressure on todays game.

Today was overall a lot better, some excellent performances and suddenly our start to the season looks quite good. Close to the automatics and only 1 home defeat. The players know the scenario and maybe some of the reports of how the players are 100% behind the boss are true as they have stepped it up. Job certainly not done yet as we still have some tough games coming up.
  • I'm pleased Parky is in a much stronger place now , but had the 7th goal gone the other way at Carlisle and we not won today it could have been so different.

I can see us doing it now , today was against a good Wednesday team , lets consolidate this at Swindon COYR.
  • I don't have any inside track but suspect that Parkinson got results from day 1 of his caretaker period... not on the pitch obviously but behind the scenes... two years on and he is able to call on HIS squad to pull some rabbits out of hats when the chips are down.

Yeah the footy is poor and until today we couldn't play for 90 minutes but he has turned the ship around and I reckon his third year will tell us if he will be here for 5 or 10. Forget what happened at Hull but the records show he certainly built something at Colchester.

It's a tight division this year and hopefully our last at this level - I'll be backing him because it's the only way forwards

  • I remember typing my comments on this thread feeling very frustrated - I enjoyed reading them again. I don't necessarily think we were wrong at the time either, but things did change and some of those changes were things we were calling for.
  • You do have to say though that there was some incredible rubbish posted on this thread. It just goes to show that most supporters really don't have a clue what managing a football team is about. Well done Parky, keep it up and just ignore the doom mongerers.
  • Hindsight is a wonderfull thing and we are entitled to change our minds.
  • Yes some rubbish but also good points in there. Also, look at the Posh boards - there is a lynch mob being organised for Gary johnson - 72% of us voted to give Parky more time after a 4-0 home drubbing. Ok, it was qualified but maybe it was the kick up the backside the players needed to turn things around.
  • I don't mean this thread -but the mood of us fans. lol
  • I blame the fans
  • call me a short-sighted, knee-jerk reactionary if you will, but surely now is the time to get rid of Parky?
    I mean
1, We clearly have a good squad of players - good enough to go up
    2. They are clearly easily motivated
    3. PP surely cant produce any better results than this, so his only route is down
    hence
Time for a new guy. I suggest Erikson, Wilkins or Keane, and yes, I am joking.
  • And Gary Johnson is, IMO, an excellent manager and one who I really wanted for us.
