not at the game felt like crap out on the booze ,but nss said we was shocking, and to be honest we av been all season parky is a shite manager who has made shite signings why doesnt he try playing a couple of younsters like mambo ,tuna etc because the players he signed are not charlton players he should av signed bauza but no he lets him go after a trial and then signs pawel (russ) f---ing abbott who is absolutely useless the man can just about run ,enough is enough a desicion needs to be made because this team is not good enough ok we might stay up and end up mid table but we was told at the beginning of the season by richard murray that we will have a team that will be competitive and challenging and that isnt happening ,so i feel murray needs to ask parky whats going on what do they do in training etc we av become embarrassing .
I just don't know where we go from here: Parky, Breaker and Kinsella, between them, are not up to the job - obviously!
We are going backwards (again).
A. Can we afford to sack PP, Breaker and Kinsella?
B. Can we afford not to?
I reluctantly say B (and I kind of like PP).
I had some sympathy for his restrictions last season/this season, to a certain point, but that old excuse has worn thin now. PP is taking us to nowheres-ville! We are not the only club to be struggling financially at the moment, nor are we the only club trying to 'gel' a new squad/players!
The level of our football has deteriorated season after season to the point where we look like bloody amateurs who cannot make even simple decisions on the pitch. The worst thing is that I fully expected us to get a drubbing yesterday, in fact I predicted 4-0 to my family. "Don't be silly" they all said!
I think we all need to wake up and realise that a line has to be drawn somewhere, sooner, rather than later.
The standard in League 1 this season is poor - poorer than last year. A half decent manager will have by now created a well drilled side that will win most of their matches. It appears that Parky is not that man. Once again, the players at times looked liked they'd never played together before and there was only one change in the starting line-up from the previous match. When will they fecking "gel"?
Totally agree with Saga's post. Brighton 0-4 ffs. October league leaders who have dropped a wodge of points in a dire league -no need to fear them that's for sure (going into the game) but 0-4 jeez that hurts, either Brighton are better than I give them credit for or we really are unutterably dire, trouble is we don't look even remotely like being that good anytime soon. Very depressing............................
I'm starting to be concerned . I certainly believe the automatic spot is beyond us unless something drastic happens and we are only 4 points clear of a relegation spot.
I didn't go yesterday because I had to go to a wedding and decided to stay clear of the result until after the reception , when I got home I was shocked , not that we lost but by the scoreline.
Like the Sheffield Utd result this could be one to define the season. Whatever we say Parky will probably see the season out , what concerns me is ( apart from Orient ) we have done worse against teams than last season when we at least picked up draws against Brentford , Exeter and Huddersfield and beat Tranmere.
Brighton beat us last year , but this year thrased us. Lets hope we can buck these trends against Carlisle.
The manner of this defeat and the quality of our play in the previous 11 games has pushed me firmly into the 'Parky Out' camp.
We seem utterly bereft of any movement off the ball and end up running into trouble and giving away the ball. We always seem to have less options than our oponents. It is the Managers job to sort this out.
After it became apparent that we were being swamped in midfield one substitution (Wagstaff for Benson) would have allowed us to push martin into the whole and match up with them. It is the managers job to see this and make the neccesary change.
Our defence was a shambles, with the exception of Daily. It is the managers job to sort this out.
We may not have a squad of world beaters but we have plenty of options. There is no excuse for us being so pedestrian and predictable.
I wasn't at the match, I was at a wedding having a brilliant time, but as soon as I came back home and looked at the league 1 scores on my phone, oh dear, I've been to most home matches this season and we havnt really been convincing enough, yes the albian are top but what Ive heard how charlton played today and how low quality the league is this year compared to last is unacceptable, and parkinson's quotes from the post match press conference were just auful for any level of football, turn it around now parky because we are only about 4 or 5 points off the playoffs, if you don't then 2 words "parky out" and if that does happen then PLEASE Murray don't appoint kinsella perminantly or I'll weep for any last justice
I hear 'Sack Parky' constantly and other things like 'Appoint Kins' and other suggestions like Damien Matthews, Paul Ince, et al. I was at the game yesterday and to see seasoned professionals unable to pass or even keep their feet at times was pretty poor to say the least. Tactics aside, how can Parkinson be blamed for the inablility of the team to be able to carry out things that an Under 9's team should be able to succeed at. The team is woeful and many were barely interested after the first goal went in. IF another manager is appointed we still have the same crop of players who seem to struggle to perform during matches so I fail to see how sacking Parky will make any difference at this stage. Bring in another manager to keep the 'loud voices' happy will make no difference at this stage of the season, unless we have the financial resouces to bring in some new players......and we don't and can't until January anyway. I will still go to the games - whether I enjoy what I see at times is another matter, but I won't stop supporting the team. This is all about opinions...........
He signed them Paul and oversees their coaching all week before picking the team.
If he inherited the squad, the defence that was implied in previous seasons, then that may be valid but this is his squad of players essentially and a lot of them seemed to have been able to function with the basics elsewhere otherwise why sign them.
Thought we needed to stop them playing at their own pace, but just ended up watching them pass it around us for the most part.
Negatives: All of them, but special mentions for Elliott, Doherty, Jackson, Semedo, Racon & Benson (makes Mooney look like Marco Van Basten).
Positives: Anyinsah - looked strong & direct.
I was of the opinion that Parky had done well to get this squad together given the financial constraints, but if he is not capable of getting a better tune out of them than this, then Murray will have a decision to make.
Perhaps a bit of target setting by RM would be a fair compromise at this stage; 10 points out of the next 6 games maybe?

Rodney - Yes he did sign some of them and they probably do train okay during the week, but they are not performing during games for some reason or another. My point is that Parky has no control over their ability to perform during games and, yes, whilst he is ultimately responsible for the team's overall perfomance - are they going to be any better under a new manager....probably not! They are inconsistent and unpredictable - our performances are a lottery at the minute. I have seen Lee Martin play well for Man Utd and Ipswich, so why is he so poor for us when he plays?
Agree paul that players do have to take responsibility for their performances but some managers seem to be able to get the most out of mediocre/ average players eg jackett whilst others seem to see their good/average players perform mediocrely (sp!)
The england team under mclaren and cappello performed way below standard when it mattered. Now McClarens record is not bad at club level and capello's is world class so maybe it is down to the chemistry a manager has with their players and the ability their players have to implement the tactics and their mentality.
Blackpools manager has had a hit and miss career but has got that bunch of players doing well and playing with self belief.
A small smattering of Charlton supporters voiced their displeasure towards Parkinson towards the end of the game i left just before the fourth goal havent done this for about 4years, was it a small smattering or was it a large one at the end showing frustration.
First match I've been to since I've arrived at University.
University of Sussex, Falmer, Brighton, 5 mins walk from there new stadium
And you just begin to ask yourself: 'Why am I suffering through this, there is a far better and easier option on my front door.' I hope it doesn't get to that stage
Analysing the game yesterday.
Ellliot looked woeful, so lucky not to concede early on after palming a shot that went straight at him. Did well to spread himself for the rebound, but Brighton should have scored. I was also sure he could have delt with the first goal, and seems to concede many free kicks that go to his right. Clattered into Murray which should have been a penalty too. Dailly struggled with the long balls, and was not as influental as at CB. People ask why he played at RB when Francis was there. Did you see the fourth goal? A lot of the time there was nobody in front of him which isn't helpful, but surely thought is needed before a 36 year old tries to take on Brightons left hand side Doherty was fantastic for Norwich last year. What has happened. Second goal was abysmally poor, by the entirety of the defence, but especially Docherty. I'd love to see what Norwich did to compensate for such a lack of pace. How many times does he dive in in depseration before we concede. Fortune looked unfit, but I can't believe that he isn't good enough to be a regular in this league. Jackson doesn't have a right foot, hence why he doesn't play in CM. He might get his chance at LM depending on Reid. Liability. As shown by the second goal. Martin does a lot of fancy things and he runs around a lot, but doesn't do anything productive in the slightest, and often disappeared from his right hand side. Only ever hits the first man. Racon is similar to the above, apart from he doesn't do any fancy things, and doesn't run around a lot. He recieves the ball, just to lose it again. Semedo has no where to go when he can't give possesion to those that can keep it. Chased shadows yesterday in such a fluid midfield, but I would never leave him out of the 11. Reid blew so many crosses early on, time after time being overhit. Pretty much what you get with wide players. Sad to see him going off. Abbot looks overweight and useless, how did he score that many for Oldham. Appeared to show nothing when I saw him up close, defending corners rather than any form of attacking. Benson as said on other areas is a CF that needs service. Service that gives him goals on a plate, rendering his input so minimal its almost not worth it. Summing him up would be that 1v1. Anyinsah looked like the best attacking threat we had when he came on. Francis as said is so poor but I suppose he is only £35,000 worth of talent.
Parkinson and co didn't have a clue what to do in terms of tactics. Reading the local paper in Brighton and online, he gave the impression of knowing precisely what was coming and how Brighton would play. Did he really expect them to be that predictable, other than the fact that they were top. I understand why he played Daily at RB, but he should have changed it earlier. I thought the line-up was too aggresive when I saw it at the start. Martin and Dailly on the right just screamed inbalance, and this should have been addressed earlier. If you look at the teams on paper I would say it's fairly even still.
Ankergren looked comfortable in possesion, not normally a compliment given to goalkeepers but certainly warrented here. Calderon looks very good at this level, reminds me of Richardson last year in terms of ability. How he got into that position without a defender near him is just unthinkable. Greer was immense, made our attackers look as useless as they are. I'd go through the rest, but I think you get the picture.
Poyet was absolutly superb, not just in the game, but evidently on the training pitch, and I can't believe that it wasn't clear that this was the case from his showing when caretaker at Leeds. Always one step ahead of Parkinson, in reality probably 3 or 4 steps. The way they started looked passing it around the back looked immensely composed, showing great confidence in their manager and how he wishes to play. Their corner routine had us perplexed. The fact that it happened again though, was the worst part about it. They looked well set up and had a functioning plan A. People complain about a lack of a Plan B. Somebody tell me what our Plan A is supposed to be?
I long for a time when we can chant for our manager, as loudly as those fans did.
[cite]Posted By: incorruptible addick[/cite]Just had a quick skim through the match thread to see how people reacted in real time.
And I see Oggy made a joke in the first half, before we had started to leak goals. He posted:
''Are we winning yet? If not, why not....??? PARKY OUT!!!''
Oh dear. Out of the mouths of babes and Oggy , eh?
I made that comment at just after 3pm within 60 seconds of the kick off, Nigel.
Why do you insist on singleing me out personally, time after time recently?
I don't, Oggster. Honestly! It was only a joke. As was your line, which amused me when I read it, particularly in the light of the ironic overtones that attached themselves to it by the end of the match.
It deserved wider currency. There you were joking at 3.05 that people would be calling for Parky's head because we hadn't taken the lead at home from the kick-off - little knowing that in an hour and half, he would have given more than ample cause for people to call for his decapitation, after overseeing us slump to our lowest league position in 85 years.
You're a splendid chap and your always-look-on-the-bright-side approach in the face of adversity can at times be very uplifting. But equally, you're endless blaming of the fans while excusing everyone else in Charlton's catastrophic decline sometimes gets a little wearisome.
Sorry if that misrepresents you. I know your position is more subtle than that, but you know what I mean , I'm sure. But it's all fine. We're a discussion board and that means the one thing nobody can say is 'you shouldn't say that'.
I fear for our club right now. I really can't see any way out of our downward spiral. I doubt changing the manager will
halt it (even though we have to try). I've come to the sad conclusion that nothing will begin to change until Richard Murray is successful in his stated ambition to sell the club.

Thank you, Nigel.
For the record I don't set out to "endlessly blame fans". What I do say is that there is a big part fans can play, can lift the energy of the stadium (and potentially the team) ...... but above all, win or lose makes for a better day out for everyone.
If that gets wearisome, so be it. It's only my opinion based on my own experience.
Right I have not posted on here since the game for two reasons; firstly I was already pissed off without reading all about it again and secondly because I wanted to think about what I wanted to put and not just post a vile load abuse (not that everyone else does but that is how I felt).
Good game to take my young daughter to for her second game, but at least her presence meant I left early to avoid all the abuse at the end (that being the first ever goal at a Charlton game I have ever missed).
As for the players Doc is abysmal (he is just so slow and clumsy) and we need to pay Forch and Dailly at the back now, also Fry looked better at LB than JJ has this term. At our next game, due in part to injuries, I would play JJ left midfield and Fry behind him.
Abbott did not deserve the abuse he got as he actually created our best opportunity all game, when he held the ball up really well and then fed Benson via a nice slide rule pass.
Racon actually played pretty well for the most part but like all our players the second killed him off.
Martin looked ok first half but second he just wanted to maon and he cuts inside far too often.
At halftime I really thought we would win, I may well be mad, as we actually looked likely to score and with a bit of luck we may well have gone in level. Second half it was men against boys. Kish really showed what idiots we were to let him go.
As for Parky he should be given 5 games to save his job end of. I like the bloke but something has to be done because at the moment we are still declining, but who would we get in.
I am sure a year or so ago someone on here touted Poyet for manager and got abuse, well I bet they feel like saying I told you so.
[cite]Posted By: cfgs[/cite]I am sure a year or so ago someone on here touted Poyet for manager and got abuse, well I bet they feel like saying I told you so.
Maybe, but good chance it was luck wasn't it? Not many on here a year or two ago knew much about Poyet as a coach, and no one knew what he'd be like as a manager.
It's like people suggesting Di Canio or Powell. They might get a job elsewhere and do a fantastic job, they might do a terrible one.

I think it was after he was spotted at the Valley and someone asked if he was being lined up, whoever it was then popped out of the woodwork even after it was mentioned about his boy
No doubt about it. We're going nowhere under Parky. Don't get to many games as I live out of the country but go when I get back. Went to 3 games last year - Yeovil (home), Brighton (home), Southend (away) and 1 game so far this year - Notts County (home) and the pattern was the same in all 4 games. Outplayed, no flair, no innovation, no coaching and lucky to get a result when we did.
Things must change and I do believe it must start at the top. Where's Varney nowadays?
Comments
Fortune needs to learn how to get off the ground (if Dailly can do it, so can he).
Doherty needs a rest.
Abbott needs a goal at home (and a new pair of boots...he'd have got his goal yesterday but slipped just as the cross came in).
We (probably) need five in midfield.
Agree with 99% of the comments on here. It's bordering on un-watchable.
PS: Well done to Brighton....their supporters have put up with some serious shit over the last few years and fully deserve some good times.
