Will add something later, too demoralised to at the moment. Really thought we were going to turn it on today and kick start our season. Starting to doubt now whether it will ever happen.

Site is struggling a bit under the weight of peed off people, please be patient.

  • Too angry to comment at the minute, a bit shocked and stunned about how inept we were today as well.
    Decent reception for Kish.
  • Peed off is right.
  • No hint anywhere of Parkinson addressing the press after the game. I wonder what's going on.
  • as I said on another thread, out played, out fought, out coached. and it won't get any better under this management team. it's gonna be a long hard winter.
  • Press conference audio is on the OS.
  • Any word on Reid? That's my major concern because he is all we have going forward

    Out played
    Out fought
    Out classed
    Out thought

    Out Parkinson
  • what is the general opinion though i deliberatly didnt listen or go i new we were going to get a hiding and i couldnt face it.

was we as bad as can be or worse
  • [cite]Posted By: ShootersHillGuru[/cite]Charlton as a club and team are still going backwards. I cannot see any tunnel let alone a light.
[cite]Posted By: WSS[/cite]The next decision Murray/Parkinson makes is a massive one in my opinion.
That sums everything up. Will comment on the game later. Worrying thing is that both giving Parky more time or replacing him isn't necessarily going to turn it around.

If he does go please don't give it to Kinsella/Breacker, has to be a completely new team.

Has said he won't resign so it's down to Murray. Big gamble whatever he chooses unfortunately.

Perversely thought we created and had the better chances, especially first half.

At 1-0 Benson inexplicably crossed to nobody when he was one-on-one with the keeper. Confidence.

They played well, kept the ball whether it was the keeper, right back or striker - everything was on the floot.

Thought our centre midfield did sweet FA though - no intensity or urgency.

  • For an hour I thought we were ok .... Then the charlton effect took over and we became totally pony
    Its painful beyond belief now
when rado was clapped off at the end I had a little well up thinking of the wonder years that feel a lifetime away

Play offs 30% another season of embarassment 66% relegation 1%

  • One plus point = Abbott has slimmed down and got a lot fitter. He did not deserve to be taken off.

Whoever decided to play Dailly at right back in this game should not be employed by the club after today.

Doherty was awful and Fortune's ability to time his jumps seems to have gone.

It looked like Brighton had two extra players today.
  • I cannot beleive this quote from Parkinson, taken directl from his press conference:

"Brighton surprised us by playing a diamond in midfield but for all their possession they had it didn't really hurt us too much."

What a stupid comment from the manager of a team that has just lost 4-0 at home.

At 1-0 Benson inexplicably crossed to nobody when he was one-on-one with the keeper. Confidence.

Benson's scored 3 goals before today, a striker builds confidence from his goals so I can't understand how he can be short of confidence.

I am so disappointed in Abbott though, feel a right mug singing his praises when we signed hi
    .
  • we always get outplayed, nothing new there,we play a ugly boot it up and wait for other teams mistakes game, never string passes together always looked frail.
  • parky's on a nice little earner at charlton. it takes a man to walk....................go on parky surprise me.
  • I have to admit that today was not the best game I have been to in the last 34 years. However maybe I have to start to become realistic - can we really expect to compete with teams of the size and quality of Brighton? Am I asking too much of our players to really put in an effort 90-180 mins a week? Am I right to feel our manager should not get out thought every single game?

I'm off to get a beer.
  • The first 20 or so minutes we actually werent that bad, and they didnt really show much. But then the difference became very apparent. They were controlled, didnt rush, had the confidence to knock the ball about calmly and stick to their drill, waited for a moment to come, took advantage of some appalling defending and then didnt look back. We're on the opposite end of the spectrum - our attacks appear rushed, nervous and lacking any real power or composure. In the middle we look lost, Semedo shutting down but not with anywhere near the force he used to show, Racon nowhere near the game. Terrible at the back today too. Just a very depressing 90 minutes. Time to go Parkinson.

  • Awful havnt seen such a poor performance since Pardews last days.... and i was looking forward to the game. Too many bad performances to single out individuals........ I've supported Parky but this has been coming and its only because we've had a run against poor teams that it hasnt come sooner... and our most exciting player in Reid gets stretchered off.......
  • Has to be said as well that Lee Martin is nothing special either, the more I see him the less I like him. He shows glimpses of something good but disappears to often during a game.

18,800 there today (3,000 BHA) -----------thats still +15,000 for a side/manager that dosnt deserve it.

Without Murray we wouldnt have had Prem footie and wouldnt have had some ofthe greatest players ever to play for CAFC. The Valley woudnt be the place it is-----------however he is largely to blame for the mess we are in:

    1) He got Dowie---was it just to poke 1 in the eye at the Tango Man ?
    2) He got Pardew and signed up to that shit contract
    3) He let both sign total shit (maybe he had no choice)
    4) He took on Parkinson(son of Pardew)
5)He signed up Parkinson even with the worst caretaker managers results ever
    6) He stoll my shares !!!

Without him we wouldnt have had the journey we have had ---with him now where are we going ?
  • Shocker from everyone.

We wobbled big time after they scored. We were the proverbial house of cards once the second went in.

    Too many players were jack.

Can't be arsed to rant on.
  • Oh dear, just read Parky's quotes:

"At 3-0 down, realistically are we going to get back in the game? Probably not, but what you make sure you do is do your job and don't let them score a fourth which makes the scoreline look very bad.”
    - true, because 3-0 at home to Brighton is not so bad is it!

"Brighton surprised us by playing a diamond in midfield but for all their possession they had it didn't really hurt us too much."
    - so you were out thought then?

If you've got beat 4-0, I suppose you're going to feel more pressure than if you've won 4-0.”
    - Did this come from the Pardew phrase book?

"We've got better defenders and better players than what we showed today."
    - so why do you not motivate them better then?

Did he come out for the second half? He hasn't played for 90mins once this season. Worse than Lloyd Same for vanishing acts.
  • [cite]Posted By: Crusty54[/cite]It looked like Brighton had two extra players today.

We only started with 10 men
    Benson was totally anonymous

I got the same feeling towards the end as I did against Sheff Utd
  • The team where totally out classed, though will say Brighton played the best football I have seen at the valley in two seasons, passing the ball out defence and not worried about playing along the back line until ready to attack. Are lot can not passs for toffee

Can't agree with this. He won every single ball in the air and provided plenty of lay offs. Made an inexplicable decision when through on goal but offered so much more than Abbott up top.

Please wait for the "lets all get behind Parky" people to say -------------------------"what was he supposed to say?"

how about------------" Ok -- ok im shit----- i hide in the boot locker for a year under Pardew, Was the worlds worst caretaker manger --but come on they offered me money !! yes i know we got relegated 13 points adrift---but they offered me money ! yes i know we had a very good squad but i naffed it up and we didnt go up--- but they offered me money. Yes its obvious to all in footie that i aint got a cluse but the RM fella is a good egg and keep offering me money-----------------whats a useless lump like me to do ?"

So i guess we all dig in the old trouser pockets etc and offer the whore money to go--------------------cos he aint going nowhere without money.
