Brilliant team performance! When we get to play with 11 men we're going to be a very good team though we seem to be able to manage with 10! Well done Parky, you have made some excellent signings. Three points tonight is much better than a win against Shrewsbury!
[cite]Posted By: Jayajosh[/cite]Thought Orient passed the ball around well which left me thinking...why can't we do that? The only slight worry for me.
Passed well but went nowhere with it, we were poor 1st half and you can't expect us to have done much more 2nd half, Orient will struggle this season I reckon.

its the quality of the final ball and ours was much better
Fantastic. Martin was immense, classy in their half, tenacious in ours. Fantastic engine too ran all the way back after an attack petered out in the 85th minute. Docherty and Llera was superb in defence. Wagstaff showed real class and Racon, their goal apart produced his best performance in a Charlton shirt for a long time. Elliott did fine but really needs to work on his kicking. Reid a bit anonymous I thought save for some decent crosss-field balls. Sodje was poor when he came on. We really need another striker.
Best of all was the spirit we showed. We may be a division lower but what a contast to the Pardew team.
The main thing that shone through was the team spirit, from those on the pitch and on the bench. I haven't seen a whole Charlton team play for each other like this since the days of John Robinson.
Pundits were blaming Docherty for Orient's goal...I blame Racon for sloppy passing. If we can cut open defences like the way we did tonight and defend like we did then we will be staying top for some time.

If Doherty had any kind of touch on that cross he could have directed it past Elliot, it looked to me as though he was trying to upper cut it over the bar, and missed.
Thought the entire performance was immense. Was worried when they scored and we went down to 10 men......but what a response from Parky and the team. We look like a team that has passion at last (hence two sendings off in two league games maybe?). Abbott looked good, Martin run his legs off, Wagstaff had a great game...scored a brilliant goal and made one for his mate Solly......even Llera looked composed and won every header. Lets hope we can keep 11 on the pitch for the next game......two more signings in my opinion and we will have a team worth a good shout. I'm now going over to the Beebs 606 to see what the usual pessimists have to say......wish some of them had been supporting the team with me in the late 60's and 70's.....maybe they would appreciate where are now.......perhaps!
[cite]Posted By: WestStandCookie[/cite]I thought Parky made a mistake leaving Waggy on instead of Reid but I was pleased to be wrong!
Thought Waggy had a blinder, Martin is quality, Pawel led the line well, Racon did well in place of Semedo, Doherty was immense, McCormack had a good game & Llera won every header after he came on.
Robbie's handling was excellent.
Don't think I've left anyone out!!
With you on all points there! Did cringe & let out any almighty Doh!, when Reid came off. But a great(& brave), & very clever decision by Parky! Martin covered everywhere behind Abbott, & I feel he felt Reid may not cover that same ground, if he were kept on.
I thought Wagstaff was playing well before the goals, but really came of age tonight. Solly the fox in the box we've been looking for? :-D Matt Spring was really pleased for Solly at the end, really nice to see.
I felt Orient looked most likely after they equalised, & then Dailly seeing red, but the response was breathtaking.
Martin was superb, as was Docherty, & Llera, when he came on. Great cross from Francis for McCormack, both of whom were very tidy. Jackson looked composed, & made some key blocks from the Orient RW crosses in the 2nd half. Racon looked very hungry tonight, Robbie looked comfortable & composed & Abbott showed glimpses of what he is capable of, with some very smart hold up play.
What really struck me was the closeness & fight in the team. Always talking to each other, spurring each other on.
I sense a real team spirit growing. Fantastic to see!
Genuinely can't remember when I last enjoyed a game as much as this one. The team spirit and determination were fantastic. Over the moon for Solly and Waggy. Can't be arsed with nit pickings tonight.
Don't think we're going to get pushed around too much this season with the likes of Doherty, McCormack and Abbott in the team.
And great reaction from the bench after the third goal - they all seemed to be up and celebrating, which is a bit of a contrast to some games I can remember last season.
Hopefully it's a reflection of the spirit in the squad and a sign that we'll be able to keep digging in when we need to.
That was all about spirit and playing for each other. Unbelievable that Parky has got that kind of spirit in what is really a brand new side so quickly.
He wrote something in the prog. last Sat. which at the time I didn't understand:
''One positive result is that many of the players involved in our play-off defeat to Swindon are no longer with us.''
I think I now know exactly what he meant. Too many of the old players thought they were better than they were and that they were too good for div three. We now seem to have a team on sensible wages with a level-headed view of their own worth and value. I didn't see anyone out there tonight with an ego problem. I saw a team of equals working for each other.
Most of the heroes have been mentioned above. But can I add the name of Llera, who put Tuesday's nightmares behind him and was immense, doing everything Dailly did and more after he came on...
Thought Reid was poor tonight as he gave the ball away a lot. He is a bit hit or miss. Credit Parky for taking him off instead of Waggy. Martin caught the eye with his non stop running but Waggy stole the show with his wonder goal.

With you all the way on that....no ego's, sensible wages, desire to win and put bodies on the line...maybe Parky has found the winning combination..........only time will tell...........but he has my support.
Sitting on the coach on the way home. Fantastic atmosphere created by fans. Players seemed really happy after game. Battled really well and dug a result out. Mcormack was immense especially when he got the armband after dailly got his marching orders. Abbot gave everything. I'm really pleased best away game in a long long time.
P.S Queing for the toilets a half time was a joke.

Well done boys! We are top of the league! ;-)
Different team to the ones that used to lose whenever we were on Sky.
Onwards and ever upwards.

Abbot = Proper Charlton
Martin = Shades of Simonsen (big fish, small pond?)
Docherty = Workhorse
Waggy = Deserved MOM
Llera = Super sub
Charlton = Top of the league!

Good stuff and good shout for big MIG
The team tried to play football. Got stuck in when needed. then stuck together and worked hard when we went down to 10 men.
We look like we will score goals this season and if we can keep our double D defence fit for the majority of the season we won't concede too many.
