This is crazy. I like Varney but he is nowhere near good enough for Premiership. Not sure what Holloways thinking is here. Good luck to him for getting a shot in the big league.
A limited number of tickets for the Seasiders' first ever Barclays Premier League home game against Fulham are still available to purchase.
The fixture, which takes place tomorrow, will see Bloomfield Road host top-flight football again for the first time since 1971.
Ticket prices for the game against last season's Europa League finalists will vary slightly depending on where you sit. The majority of tickets available will be for the new East Stand and will cost £29 for adults, £19 for seniors, £16 for under-19s and £14 for under-16s. Disabled tickets will cost £29 but do include a free carer."
Sam, haow are Wolves looking shite - won there home game and got a strong point at Everton.
Blackpool haven't got a prayer imo. I like Olly and he's great at getting the best out of journeyman pros but I fear he may be a bit out of his depth, at least he will be with the resources at his disposal - Varney and Marewood up front ffs!?!?!?!
Good luck to em, but I think they'll be getting a few more smashings like thay did at Arsenal last week. Can't see many teams being as bad as Wigan were against them. Not sureb they're evven signing the right players to leave them in a strong position in the Championship next season.
Holloway is running taht club at the minute with both hands tied behind its back i feel sorry for him he loves the place the town and the people and if he was not the sort of bloke that he is he would have walked
Blackpool have signed Varney on loan. He is going to make the place rock, will be a tower of strength, going to light the place up. And if he plays badly they can always find him a job on the beach.
Varney is a confidence player and Holloway is very good at boosting player's confidence and getting the best out of them. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he does far better than most on here are predicting. He showed in patches (against Palace for example) that he has the talent and ability. He will also get more time in the Premiership and it may actually suit his game.

You really like the "flatter to deceive" type player queensland don't you?! First Lisbie, now Varney!
[cite]Posted By: Danny Addick[/cite]Ridiculous decision by Holloway. Varney won't save you and that's the truth.
I'm sure I heard him say they wanted 6 more players. I think it's got to the point where they have little choice. They can't offer Premier League wages, not Holloway's fault if the best he can get is Varney. Seems like they can't even go out and spend a few millions on proven Championship players.

Seems to me they'd be better off not getting anyone in, if that's the case.
If they can't sign players to keep them up, then target players who will make them a strong Championship side next season. If they can't get them then they may as well pocket the cash and be assured of keeping the club afloat for 4 or 5 years.
Varney seems a bit of a pointless signing imo - very similar and no better than Ormerod.
Comments
Has he signed for Blackpool yet and if so on what terms?
Source? No one else has mentioned it.

It's on Blackpool OS but I can't be bothered to link it!

Must say I really do not think that Varney is up to Prem status, but good luck to him on a personnal level.
Unless he has improved greatly which we will see shortly, I think his level is low Championship, at best!
He had a very decent run in the Charlton team, as previously posted and in terms of goals failed!
He ran around a lot, but the judgement is/was playing above his level.
So he has his chance let's see how he does.......
Yeah he refused to let him in poo club apparently!

I really wish we had got him
Holloway didn't managed the side mid week Carling Cup game as he was at another game looking at a player. Bit of a loose cannon tbh
