[cite]Posted By: Folev the red[/cite]......won a penalty, and scored the second.
Do you know, I'm so pleased for Luke Varney.
Non-league to playing regularly in the Prem ....... real Roy of the Rovers stuff.
Just shows what good man-management can do for a previously anxious player.
Under that Capello Rating thing, Jerome Thomas would be in the Premiership Firt XI. As would Heskey. Darren Bent number one player in the league obviously
The Blackpool fans are cock a hoop and enjoying the ride in the Prem. They get behind their players which enables them to relax and express themselves in a supportive environment.
It's hard to remember but The Valley was a supportive fortress once upon a time rather than the poor mans Tottenham or West Ham it has become.
Varney could have been good for us but for a combination of Pardew's mismanagement and the negative atmosphere generated by the fans at The Valley if we didn't score straight away did for a "confidence" player. Even the opposition managers commented on it. Frustrate Charlton for 20 minutes or so and the fans will get on their players backs.
Well done Varney. Proved me wrong, and has now come out of my Bargain Bollox Bradbury bin. But having said that.....
Varney could not and never will work in a team that doesn't try and counter quickly. Meaning he has to have energetic and pacey players round him. He is not an off the shoulder center forward, a la Michael Owen of old or indeed his most effective strike partner Nicky Maynard. He is most effective at inside right/left channel running, either with the ball or coming onto a move obliquely. I'll hazard a bet this is where he did his danger work for Blackpool today. Shame most of us knew it and thought he had to be first on the team sheet as an inside left/right player.
Only Pardew insisted in consistently playing Gray and Varney together, when the only person who linked midfield and attack seemed to be Varney after Reid left. Idiotic tactics ain't down to the fans. The way Pardew had his teams setup they would have failed over and over again without Andy Reid. That team had so few ball winners, who all wanted to play centrally without bothering to make a tackle. Whatever the fans said or done, everytime Pardew' s team came out after Andy Reid left we were more likely to lose than win. Only one man gamed that shit outcome.

Certainly not Roy of Anfield - what a shocker for Roy!!
I wonder what their equivalent of CL is like tonight?
I'm guessing pretty much the same as CL.

When will some of us learn?
