  • Killer is another great example of a player who would very often make little contribution throughout the game but still end up with a couple of goals.
Putting the ball into the back of the net is a specialist art that very few footballers ever master. There is nothing more frustrating than playing great football but still losing due to a failure in converting goalscoring opportunities. It's the major thing we have lacked in recent seasons and the only natural goalscorer we have is being deployed as a defensive midfielder!
As for Dickson, he was just the type of player we needed. I'm not saying he was the answer because he looked very poor at times, but we need a pacy Lisbie type who can get onto through balls, break the offside trap and get in on goal. Defenders hate pace, and we haven't got any.

    Stu vs. Bourne

Dickson 1-3 Akpo (and other Charlton strikers)

    :-)
  • Dickson an unused sub on Saturday, why was that? I thought Gillingham were desperate to sign him, and play him with Jackson?
  • Jackson scored two on sat and with Dickson inelgible for the game on 20th, could be a while before Dickson gets another start at Gills.

That really doesn't surprise me. Thought he'd get a few goals for them, as he always will, but was never convinced he'd score as many as in his first spell. Still time I guess but every club seems to have the same issues with the rest of his game. Wonder where he'll end up next season if they decide they don't want him?
  • He would have done a better job than Akpo Sodje did on Sat !

They both started at Brentford just after xmas and Dickson was far the better player and I'm convinced if we had stuck with him he would have got more goals than our current front two !
  • Have to say if the criticism of Dickson is his all round game isn't up to it, step up akpo Sodje, who is far worse in this way, and simply can't do the job he's on there for.

We may be in Div 3 and resigned to the fact we no longer have the type of players we used to but even in this league, Dickson, Akpo and Mooney look very substandard.

Dickson has looked very non league on some occasions however in his favour is more likely to get goals imo than anyone we currently have. At Brentford, he was very decent and a goal there could have made a difference to his cafc career.

  • Dickson, Sodje, Mooney and McLeod are all pretty poor. Sodje has five goals for us, Dickson wouldn't have done that much better. None of them are the answer.

10 goals before the end of the season, a tad ambitious imho assuming he is not including the 4 he already has.

I reckon he'll net 8 between now and the end of the season.

Same amount the rest of our strikers combined will achieve.

I'll have a tenner he wont!!

    7 to go ;-)

In light of AFKA mentioning your name in the above, i'll take my tenner at game this season my frosty looking friend
  • Shall see you sometime in September!!
