[cite]Posted By: JT[/cite]Not sure anyone's making Lloyd a scapegoat, as WSS said imagine how good hecouldbe.
Agreed ......Sam's not really being made a scapegoat but he's certainly receiving a lot of stick for the moves that break down - and yet very little credit for how effective his contribution actually is ..... which I believe was Weegie's point.
Sure, maybe we expect Sam to be able to up his game a notch - but then he's a person with human weaknesses, not a machine. And if he was anywhere near approaching the perfection that some demand ...... well, he wouldn't be playing for Charlton in this League, would he ?
Okay the Beeb highlight was only a couple of minutes long - but nevertheless showed 4 chances that Charlton created, including a disallowed goal, a nigh-on 1-on-1 opportunity from a panicky Mooney, and both goals.
Sam set up all 4 chances.
Yet in the player ratings he was rated by some as low as 5, which IMO equates to a poor substandard performance.
I wasn't at the game so can only go on the highlights footage - but the film certainly shows what he does achieve.
This is getting silly. Nobody on here is making Lloyd Sam a scapegoat. Just want him to produce more often. I know he is League one and we cant expect it all the time bla bla bla...but when you had the amount of possesion in good areas has he did on saturday, you have to produce more. If Burton has 12 chances and scores one, i will say the same about him. Same for Llera if he is not winning enough headers. The criticism of Lloyd on here after saturday is justified imo.
What Sam gives you depends on the service Sam gets. You can't expect him when he's being double marked to lose both defenders AND put over a quality cross, however in broken play where he's given a bit of room and time he can deliver a good cross.
I dont think he did as good as he should have with the amount of possession he had. When 4 yards out with the keeper to beat and not shooting equates to not doing your best in my book that happened a few times. Just an opinion but one i feel is true and honest from watching the whole of the game from a reasonaly good viewpoint. I'm not slagging Sam off nor do i love him so much that i can only see brilliance. He's a very good player on his day and a poor one other times. Much like most of the players in this standard of football.

But Sam did just that against Wycombe - watch the BBC highlights footage ....... and after 2 shots charged down, it was a major factor in unhingeing the Wycombe defence and Bailey scoring the winner.

1 or 2 exceptions there maybe Unc...**smiley winky thing**
1] Great finish from Shelvey, that's one of the most difficult things to do in the game when you have to pull a cut-back into the far corner from a tight angle - he made it look easy.
2] Bailey is the heart and soul of this team, he will be off to the CCC or maybe even Premiership if we don't go up.
3] You can't talk about Leeds or Norwich being "classier" than us based on that game, the pitch was very slippery and muddy and not suited to a passing game at all, anyone would have struggled to play football on that.
4] The goal we conceeded was a bit sloppy but I would not blame Basey for it completely, that would be harsh.
AGREE all of your points - sam looked quality in those 5 minutes of footage as did bailey and Shelvey - mooney needs to get more power on those shots!
Semedo stepped over the through ball for their goal so he's more at fault as he had the perfect opportunity to stop it!

In the second half he was being triple marked and still made the initial assist for the goal. We cant afford not to play him despite the frustrations such as the first half when he would freeze in possession. Much better when he gets the ball already on the run.
Don't know if any of you lot are lucky enough to read addickted2charlton's posts on 606 but they are written with the strangest use of spelling i've ever seen. But chooses to ignore genuine questions about it. He doesn't appear to be young with the points that are actually made and certain things he has said about certain subjects.
About = abarht
Charlton = Charl'on
Ground = Grahnd.
That's = thass
Home = ome
And so on. Good to see they translated it on there though.

This geezer first turned up on the Charlton Babes site 4 or 5 years ago, with his drivel about his lovechild Bryan Hughes, and other ludicrous ballcocks.
Posters left the site in droves. Turns out the character was purely a specially created WUM.
I'm quite shocked coming on here today. Granted I only saw the highlights, but what I did see was Lloyd Sam create 4 clear-cut chances. I don't care how much posession he had, if any player creates 4 clear-cut chances in a game then I'm happy. You can go entire games as a team and not create 4 clear-cut chances.
I don't know about proof, JT .......but if I remember it was posted on here a few months ago, by a Lifer who used to post regularly on the Babes board.
I did too a few years ago, and several others on here now also - and we were all familiar with the 'Mockney', as we used to call it, of A2C.

What an earth do people expect of him.
That was exactly my point too Chunes, when I analysed the BBC footage of the Wycombe game.

If you went you would understand the criticism. People arent just slating Sam, i think the criticism has been quite constructive. GET THE BALL IN THE BOX EARLIER!

If Lloydie was consistently as good as he can (could) be he wouldn't be playing for us.
At this level he could be the difference between automatic promotion and not as defenders find him hard to cope with when he is on song.

I've always thought it's someone on a wind up, there simply is no other explanation. He constantly goes against what everyone else thinks.
Was there any proof he was a wum?

BBC highlights for anybody interested.

No one's saying he had a bad game, just that we could have killed the game off.
