[cite]Posted By: Stone[/cite]Sam was always a threat down the right. Sure he didn't deliver on many occasions but surely it's better to actually look a threat?
They were a poor side. Sam had absolute acres of space to run into. Anyone can run into space with the ball, its what you do when you get into those advanced positions that counts. The one time he picked a pass, we scored. I think Sam can be very dangerous, thats why i was so disappointed with him today.
Although if Sam had that much posession, he was keeping the Wycombe defence very busy.
That creates space and frees up movement for other of our players.

Did he play today then?. I thought it was a done deal that he was going to Middlesborough?.

But his possesion was in dangerous territory. If your in that position, you have to make it count on more than one occasion. 1st half, he didnt even really have anyone marking him! Think Wycombe were more worried about the threat ciming through the middle as they were so narrow. Think they were right. I dont wanna bang on about Sam, cos as i said i think he can be dangerous sometimes, just found him very frustrating today. Against better oppostion he needs to be bang on the money more often than not.
[quote][cite]Posted By: BlackForestReds[/cite]Thought omo was very unlucky actually thought it was gonna be basey coming off ............
I wasn't there so I can't make any comment about how well/poorly that Basey/Omo played, but Richardson is our first choice RB and it makes sense to give him some match time.[/quote]
I like Omo and he along with Solly will put a lot of pressure on Richardson for the shirt.
Happy with the result although we did make it hard for ourtselves. Jonjo looked back to his best (especially in the first half), playing some lovely balls, getting stuck in and scoring with a great finish. Bailey had his usual all action game topped off with a good goal. The strikers toiled but didn't really ever look like scoring, although McKenzie did well when he came on and gave me hope he may get some goals for us if he improves his match fitness. As above I thought Omo was a little unlucky to be subbed as he was doing well. That said it is nice to see Richardson back fit and he gives us a lot more going forwards.
Sam dissapointed today, he was given acres of space on the right and did not do nearly enough, as Uncle says above I think he should have created / scored 3 today.
Thought Elliott should have saved the goal, although it was fairly woeful defending - not sure who by as I was sat in Row A and the view was not the best. Finally, Basey - actually if you take out the first 15 minutes (when he was absolutely dire) I thought he was good - got forwards and supplied plenty of balls in which should have been attacked more by our players, so credit to him for not dissapearing after the opening.
A deserved result although too close for comfort if I'm honest....Lloyd Sam waisted some great possesion(indeed he probably had more possesion than any other player on the park) and could have/should have run them ragged....sadly his positional play and control wasn't matched by his woeful crossing and shooting....he got it right once and once only and low and behold, as if to prove my point, it resulted in our first goal.
Elliot didn't have a save to make worthy of the name and the hardest thing he did all afternoon was to pick the ball out of the back of the net..........a goal scored somewhat against the run of play I might add.
Dickson was pretty dodgy for the short while he came on and gave the ball away very sloppily in midfield a few times and on one occassion it almost led to their scoring a second...he must have been a very relieved man to see the chance go begging.
All in all, a most satisfying result, if a little fractious.
[cite]Posted By: windscreen[/cite]We promished ourshelves a bottle of whishky for evely away motch victrey thish year...Cant promise a grate rendishion of the anthem at thish rate...
Good team result, I thought Basey looked ring rusty and Omo was unlucky to come off. Long walk back to the Tgi to get the van, but a happy journey home
Satisfying result, if a slightly frustrating performance.
1st half for the bulk of it Wycombe looked twice as sharp as us, and a few players, Sam in particular, looked very languid and almost lathargic. The managed to get the ball to feet in between our midfield and defence on numerous occassions and we never really seemed to get to grips with their shape.
Defensively we looked a little ropey throughout, i like Llera and i like Dailly, but it doesn't fill me with over confidence if i'm honest. I've been a lot less critical of Omosuzi over the last couple of months than others have been, and thought he was ok again. However, i thought a step up in class was really noticeable when Richardson come on, and he gave us a lot of energy down the right in the final part of the game. As soon as Betsy was brought on on the left, Parky rushed Richardson on to counter it.
Basey i have a lot of time for, and really want him to do well, but he is just not sharp enough for me. Just not sure he is going to get better than what he is, and Youga is a better option.
In midfield, i don't think Semedo was as effective as he can be, and certainly didn't protect the back four as well as he has done. Bailey, once again, was our driver and is the real one class, Championship act we have in our ranks. Another key goal from midfield.
Delighted as well for Jonjo; An excellent strike for the goal and a much improved performance in my eyes. Certainly has some real quality on the ball. Sam will continue to divide people for ever. He either has a 40 a day habit or asthma, but he just seems knackered the whole time. Where he fails in his delivery and defensive cover, he makes up from the fact the opposition worry about him and throw 2 sometimes 3 defenders at him. I know he pulled back for the goal, but with the amount of ball he has, he has to offer more, surely ? So frustrating.
Up front, Burton held up and won the flicks, Mooney was busy. Dickson was awful. Its now my main concern, we haven't got a real threat up front, and i doubt we will now.
So, a very welcome win ahead of an important run of games. Not too worried about other teams, we've just got to concentrate on doing our own thing.
But we need to be better than that.
ps. in future, can we try and keep all the non-match chit chat to other threads please, thanks.
wycombe are a very very poor side.how their guy didn't score or even hit the target early on was summed up by our fans singing - "that's why you're going down". they played a couple of game more than other sides around them yet are adrift.we were always going to win this though we just made it very difficult for ourselves.
elliot did mostly what he had to and should feel unhappy conceding for their goal which weren't too great
omo did nothing wrong really today and wouldn't have subbed him but dailly llera and basey seemed to not know each other and were at fault in inviting pressure when you'd expect the small threats to be easily snuffed out.
jj was my motd and if they had all played to his level then we really woul have cruised this the way that you have expected.
front 2 didn't really do it for me today but i'd have them any day over dickson when he came on.he just looked so non league.although sam ran him close out there.
happy with the 3 points in the end but wycombe are going down.
Right. Just got back after detour to Oxford. Met soundas. That was interesting. He looked NOTHING like I imagined. At all. But yeah. The hospitality deal was great; I got a signed programme! (Cause it's my birthday tomorrow, but yeah. Oh, and seth plum is me dad, just to remind you all.) Jessica who dealt with us was really lovely. The match was not too bad, not too bad. We played alright in spells but not consistently. Llera was horrible, Basey was decent going forward but a little shaky at the back; got booked and rightly so. Dailly and Omo were steady. Richardson when he came on was steady. Shelvey played quite well; took his goal nicely. Sam caused trouble for their captain. Skinned him completely at one point. Bailey = man of match; he played like a captain, really. Mooney was the weakest link. Burton played like he always has done but to slightly less effect. Dicko looked lively; McKenzie about the same. 2-1, I'm a happy chappy. Noice.
I'm looking forward to seeing Richardson back in the side, the team still lacks a bit of pacey zest at times without him... pace on the overlap tends to wake up Sam.
Lloyd Sam would always be first on my team sheet, in either the champ or this league because so many of our goals come from him or he's involved in the buildup. I don't know whether it's fitness or not, I tend to think it's mental with him and mainly game awareness. Newton and Robinson had half the talent he has but banged ball after ball into the box often without looking, 90% being utter trite, but it works at up to champ level. Sam can look up be aware and put a sumptuous ball in but 90% of the time he doesn't. He doesn't have to be exactly the same as Newton and Robinson but to mix it up and play the early ball every now and then would transform our team. I don't want to utterly slate him as he has improved no end in the last two seasons, especially at helping out defensively. Hopefully the best scenario is we uncover a left winger/midfielder who hustles and bustles, which will help Sam get space no end.
Glad for the win and the fact that this diamond formation appears workable against some clubs. Just hope Parky doesn't use it against teams like Norwich and Colchester at home.
Reading yours, Afka's and a couple of other reports sounds as though we were a bit rusty which is hardly surprising when you consider we haven't played for a couple of weeks. I doubt they've thst much outside training either.
I'm happy with three points and hopefully Richardson will be the better for his run-out.

They drew 1-1 with Leeds last week, hit the post twice - and should have won.
They weren't the same team
If Beckford goes...
leeds lost to exeter today. i don't think exeter will go up.
Oggy were you at the game......from the strange comments you've made re Sam amd Wycombe I can only assume you weren't.
Sam gets another assist from the 'back-block' he made in the lead up to our 2nd.
