Im sorry but Dicko did not look lively. He was on for 25 minutes and i think i done more running than him getting to my seat. At one point with about 2/3 mins to go, Richardson had the ball looking for someone to run into the channel and 'Dicko' was bowling about on the halfway line. When Burton runs his nuts off week in week out, this is just not acceptable.
Thanks to soundas for the heads up regarding the £40 VIP deal, really very nice and an unusual treat, however sitting in the home area when we scored was hard, Bobby, Patrick and I kind of went 'wuh', and half stood then immediately sat down for the decorum!! Wycombe were poor, but we were a little brittle....much the better side, but didn't ruthlessly dispatch Wycombe as we should have done. Bailey was excellent again, he has big cojones, but Llera was a big worry, didn't win a clean header, and his other interventions were a bit iffy and unpredictable and made it look like the ball was hitting a multi armed signpost and liable to go anywhere. The most eye-catching vignette was Richardson for the good Omo, he was forceful and pacey, and provided a good outlet near the end of the game when we needed a 'safe' person to pass to, and he attacked with loads of pace (dunno where that came from). We were better, and deservedly got the three juicy points...now for Tuesday...expect Hartlepool to park the bus after todays result.
Incidently, there were around 40 Addicks who took up the VIP deal, which was superb value I may add.
Jessica was as tasty as she sounded on the phone and is clearly a real star of Wycombes back room staff....a genuinely lovely girl.
For future reference guys n' gal's, should we ever play there again I can thoroughly recommend the entire package.
Nice to meet Seth and his boys, who obviously enjoyed their special treat and day out with Dad.
My pal Ron was particularly pleased with the two tarts he had in the lounge at half time!!
[cite]Posted By: JT[/cite]Is it that harder question?!
Ermmmm well JT,considering he went to the game with his dad and is 16 tomorrow I think the bald question is to say the least a little strange.
As for the penalty shoot out comment well we were all inside the lounge at half time(assuming that's when the penalty competition took place)...do try to keep up JT....LOL!!
Here's a couple of questions for you JT...what is (or was) 'the corner box' and why are you telling young Paddy the result of the under 8 penalty competition? Far be it for me to speak for him but I doubt he's the least bit interested.
They drew 1-1 with Leeds last week, hit the post twice - and should have won.
Oggy were you at the game......from the strange comments you've made re Sam amd Wycombe I can only assume you weren't.
I wish, SoundAs ........ no my strange comments made re Sam were quotes from the match report on the Charlton OS.
And the one about Wycombe quoted from the Leeds v Wycombe match report, on the BBC site.
Thanks to SoundAs for the hospitality tip, Jessica et al made it a highly enjoyable time. A Wycombe supporter at our table said we didn't have the quality of either Leeds or Norwich, they are a class above and it's hard to disagree. AFKA has said it all really. But I watched nine red kites swirling above the trees at dusk, a real bonus! Two short of a squad though. Frustrated watching Sam, seriously pissed off with Dicko. I'm hoping that the disaffected Moo2, Racon and Dicko don't upset the dressing room, feel happy to have got three points but still nervy.

Suspect the nerves and stress willbe with you and many of us until May! can I suggest copious amounts of http://www.healthy.co.uk/products/klamin.html taken daily
saw the best and worst of Lloyd Sam today. Nice cut-back for the goal but most of the time just frustrating. As Uncle said there were at least three occasions where he could have shot but elected to cut back on the outside again and look to play a pass. And that miss from a yard, put on a plate by Basey.
I'm surprised no-one has commented on how poor Mooney was. I can't see why so many rate him. He runs around a lot but hardly ever has an effort on goal. Before you mention the one in the second half then that was tame. The keeper made a complete balls up and made it look a better shot than it was. He has no physical strenghth, never tackles, can't win a header and if he ever scores from more than ten yards out I'd eat my hat. What's that, about 2 goals in eleven for us this season. Similar return at Narwich last season. I'd play Wagstaff through the middle before him. Even Dickson (no, maybe not). In my opinion we are woefully short of any quality up front, Burton excepted.
On the plus side I thought Shelvey had a very good game and also good to see Richardson back, hope he can stay injury free now. With Solly fit too then Ohmysuzi is surplus to requirements and a wage we can do without carrying so thanks, but no thanks.

[cite]Posted By: Rudders22[/cite]not forgetting mooney has not played since the millwall game becaue of injury
Good point ...... hardly going to be match fit, if he's not been able to play and very little training for a month.
We have to consider players' performances in context.
So, another away win where we did just enough to see off opposition who made it hard for us without ever quite having the quality to beat us. Of course it's frusrtrating not killing these teams off more convincingly, especially when we see what Norwich are doing, but perhaps we should focus instead on the CONSISTENCY Parky's achieved, without yet buying a player. Clearly we are not simnply going to destroy many teams; we don't appear to have the necessary firepower. Yet we're still averaging close to two goals a game with everyone steadily chipping in, and are still maintaining an average of two points a game, often enough to win a championship.
I'd love to see us kill teams off with fours and fives, but despite Beckford's goals and headlines, it may well be Leeds' tight defence that's kept them top until now. Of course a hitman who turns those draws into wins would be nice, but it would've got us nowhere if we were leaking at the other end. We've had most of our first choice defence missing recently but haven't lost. Ironically, the return of Richardson & particularly Youga may well lead to more attacking impetus too, especially at home. Here's hoping Leon comes to the fore and Jonjo really makes his mark on the second half of the season.
Mooney - understandable being a little light-weight that he divides opinion until he scores more goals, but there's no doubting his awareness offers us something different. As always it's such a balancing act for themanagement whose hands are so tied by our finances. Bearing in mind that handicap, keeping us so high in the race whilst not resorting to Colchester's tactics is admirable in itself. Can Norwich maintain their incredible run without a mental blip? Are Leeds beginning to crack? Who knows. Let's just get at least seven points from these home games and see where it leaves us.
We keep making hard work of these lower-down teams, but with Richardson and Youga back full time things should improve.
I came on here today to say what a contribution Deon Burton has made this season. The red card was a bit of a low point, but his hold-up play is excellent and his success rate on headers looks about 90%+. I thought he was going to be excess baggage when he signed for us - but i'm happy to be proved 100% wrong.
Leeds don't play a league game now until after we play Orient - are you thinking what i'm thinking? Shame Beckford has withdrawn his transfer request though.

Worryingly we've had a couple of similar opportunities to catch them this season and have blown it. Third time lucky hopefully!
Re Mooney. Only seen him the once (at Stockport). Was pulling my hair out because of he couldn't finish a couple of decent chances to kill the game. But the more I watched the game the more I realised how hard he also worked to create chances for others. In the end he set up Waggy's goal which proved to be the winner. IMO him and Burton really are the way ahead. Don't understand this 'cult' following of Dickson personally.
[cite]Posted By: WSS[/cite]I really don't get the Mooney reaction at all. Very strange.
That's football I suppose.
Just think his intelligence gets unnoticed by many who want to see a Dicko stepover or fancy flick that leads to completely f-all.
Mooney and Burton work well together and will be the first choice partnership for the rest of the season.
It was certainly evident to me, that when Mooney came off, we had no 'out ball'. Players deep in their own half looking for a channel run or someone coming short, that's where Mooney is good.
Mooney did ok yesterday imo, not at his best but clear we have missed him and when he back to 100%, Burton and Mooney are as good as anyone in the League (ok maybe minus so many goals compared to Holt, Beckford etc). Mooney seems to get himself in goalscoring positions and his record of 2 in 12 may not look good but he has had a fair few assists (Bristol Rovers- Bailey, Stockport- Waggy and Millwall- first three) so he does bring a lot to the table.
Dickson let himself down yesterday after showing a lot of promise against Brentford. Guess that is why he divides opinion so much.
Basey gets too exposed and either needs extra protection, like Sam offers Omuzusi or Richardson, or wait till Youga is back and seriously consider Basey on the left of midfield. After the first 20 mins, Basey did do a lot better especially as he picked up a knock.
Wycombe were not great but three points was a must. Good to see Shelvey start and play well again, likewise Burton. Bailey MOM.
Biggest complaint was Lloyd Sam, as much as he offers the side and the threat he poses. There is no excuse for him looking so knackered after 30mins, usually he waits till 60mins. He was puffing like a smoker before half time.I still think we are better with him at the club and in the team but he looked shattered.
Christ Soundas, were the prawn sandwiches not fresh enough?
I had no idea how old he was, but in one of the boxes (right in the corner) at HT it was announced it was a Charlton fans birthday in said box. He came out and got a massive cheer. Stupid of me to think this could have been 'Paddy' who's birthday it was and was also in a hospitality box!
The other point was irrelevant to this, hence the new line.
Anyone go in scores before hand? Talked to a few Charlton.

We lost the under 8s pens at HT

You're spot on.
Because Mooney has footballing intelligence and makes things happen for other players - and improves the team as a whole, Large.
Compare peoples comments re Sam and Dickson. That's the difference.
