[cite]Posted By: CAFCBourne[/cite]Barnard to Millwall, funny one this he was a player i thought we might go for however watching him the other week wasnt over impressed
Must've just had an off day. He's scored a lot of goals in an average side.
I think if you asked a Millwall fan what he thought of Dailly they'd say he was sh*t but he's been one of our best players this season

He just has a tendency to play terribly against Millwall, that's all. Class against all other League 1 opposition.

Just an off day or maybe the virus he had subsequently had kicked in. Anyway I'll take the rest of the seasons performances for his one off day.
I can see why Mooney would be preferred over Sodje, Mooney is a completely different type of player to the rest we have and I think we have massively missed him since Milwall. Sodje although a bright start and a great game against Swindon imo does not offer much of an alternative to Burton or McKenzie. Also as a partnership, Mooney and Burton scored quite a few goals, I think in Mooneys 7 starts he got 2, Burton got 5.
Imho therefore if we had Burton, Mooney, McKenzie and Dickson as our 4 main strikers, this would be good enough. Each offers something different and would hopefully allow us funds to bring in a LM/CB
Charlton and Ebbsfleet apparently in advanced negotiations about extending Alex Stavrinou's loan. Ebbsfleet would like to keep him until the end of the season.
He's out of contract at the end of the season, so he'll have to decide what he thinks is best for him when it comes to winning a new deal with us.

ebbsfleet are doing shocking! get out while you can mate, either find a similar club that aint on a downer or play in our 1 game every two months reserves ;-)
Can someone clarify if we actually have any money to buy players? I am completely lost as to whether there is a takeover underway and as a result we have a ban on buying players until this is sorted.
Certainly this was the agreed wisdom during the summer.
If we don't buy a few players we wil be over taken by Norwich, Huddersfield and Colchester, all of which are buying players.
If PP thinks that getting some loan players in will be enough he wil be showing the same stupid mentality that he did last season and the same that Pardew shared before him. Loan players don't play like their career depends on where the club is next year.
cant help u larry no mates, sorry couldnt resist ;-)
as for loanee's i sort of agree but there have been some good ones so if no funds we just have to choose carefully which i have faith in PP and he will, well be alright!

It might not be up to PP.
The Board dictate whether there is money to spend.
Not the manager.

What players we sign depends on which players we can first sell/loan out.
Dickson and Moo2 have returned from loan spells and that in theory strengthens the squad, although it also loads the wage bill and Parky is trying to get Mooney's loan extended until the end of the season. if Dickson, Moo2 and Mooney all stay (as well as Akpo Sodje) then I can't see us signing anymore players although we need a left sided midfielder.

Since Stav has been there Ebbsfleet have only lost twice when he has played...watched him play for them really good player hope he stays there till the end of the season.

everything I hear about him I'd promising and I really hope we keep him (offer him a new contract)
Peterborough are looking to beat Hearts to the signing of Charlton striker Izale McLeod, skysports.com understands. - taken from sky sports transfer clockwatch
Yay this could be the news we want, although im sure breaking news we have signed exciting left winger would bring a little bit more excitement although a close one

Neither did the full time players.

The players that Norwich and Colchester have signed permanently were all on loan beforehand.
Are peterboro mad! A striker who never broke though at Championship levle, has failed on the few Div 1 appearances, what can they see that we can't see, do they have a wrestling match coming up and need someone with a Mikc McManus like forearm smash. Ooops, sorry i should be rejoicing, have checked its not April 1st
Carlisle have completed the permanent signing of Chelsea youngster Tom Taiwo. Just realised that wasn't entirely new as it is also in the Tom Taiwo thread after I bothered to search!
Barnard looks a good player and would suit Burton as a partner I feel. Maybe out of our price range. Out of interest, if selling Racon mayde sufficient funds available to sign, say, Barnard and Puncheon (or similar calibre players) would you be in favour of letting Racon go? Have to admit I'm a bit torn, I think we'll manage fine with Racon this season but think he'd be very useful next year (if we get up) when we may have to go back to 4-5-1 a bit more often to try and compete against the better side away. Guess we should probably deal with today's problems first, in which case selling in order to buy may be the best way to go.

You're right it would be very short sited to sell Racon. I'd rather us try and shift Mcleod, Spring and Dickson to fund signings

[cite]Posted By: Valley11[/cite]Racon out to bring Baranrd and Puncheon in would be great business IMHO.
Selling Mcleod, Spring and Dickson (IF there are any takers) wouldn't generate anywhere near enough money - if any at all.
Maybe not, but I'd rather us see how much we could for them before we considered selling Racon.
With a limited time to buy in the transfer window I don't think we can hang about if we want to bring in better players like JP and LB.
If decent money was offered for Racon I'd take it and use it to buy first teamers in key areas (striker, left midfield) to push us over the promotion line this season.

i'd agree with that
[cite]Posted By: Weegie Addick[/cite]We also really need another CB as cover - Semedo did a job at Brentford, but then we miss him in midfield.
good point also so put both together so if selling racon meant we could get puncheon & barnard & a decent centre half then i think would be too good to turn down, as much as id hate racon to leave as he is quality just its whats needed for us to maintain going for top 2
i'd say 750,000 maybe enough to get racon but dont think that will be enough to buy 3 players that we need unless we can pick up a free in the mould of christian daily or sodje as they were good signings and have both done well, bar the odd game admitidally
We might not raise much by selling McLeod etc, but we will get them off the payroll. That frees up some money in itself. I suspect until the deadwood is cleared no one will come on board.
Billy Sharp to Leeds, I thought he had agreed to extend his Donny loan till end of season. Sharp has just won December Champ Player of the month after a great run, can't imagine he'd want to go to League 1 when after his Sheff United problems, he is just finidng his feet in The Championship

£750,000 for Racon? He's a good player but he can't get into a League 1 side. I think you may have to divide that by 3 at least.

Let's hope we can get McLeod out soon with a loan-to-perm deal, and possibly tie LB up on a similar deal.

A Leeds season ticket holder that I know reckons it's a done deal for Billy Sharp if they lose Beckford in the window.

You could say the same about Jonjo though.
