Surely the question is : When looking for a goal, who would you rather have come off the bench - Dickson, McLeod or Tuna (on the basis 4-5-1 is our plan A).

That will never happen, because Dickson will not be happy being sub. And if he's not motivated we wouldn't get the best out of him.

I think you are missing the point here supaclive:
McLeod tries harder, makes goals (for the opposition) and in League games gets booked twice as many times as he scores goals.
Dickson doesn't try as hard as McLeod but scores twice as many goals, creates infinitely more chances from which his team scores and doesn't get booked.
On the basis of the above it is rather obvious why Parky prefers Izale. He tries harder and everyone likes a trier don't they?

Talk about cherry picking the evidence. Where do you get this from? Dicko has scored one more goal than McLeod this season. I accept that McLeod gets booked too much, but not twice as many times as he scores goals. Dicko may create "infinitely more chances" if you're basing that on 1 assist for Dicko v 0 assists for McLeod.

Sorry I only count League Games and not mickey mouse competitions against Teams in the 4th Division.
AA - Dickson is pony and his attitude stinks. How you can say ''his record in this Division has proven over and over again.'' is beyond me. Beckford Yes, Dickson No.

This is an utterly pointless debate. For as long as Parkinson is our manager Dickson is not going to play for our first team.
I have no issue with that, I base my opinion of him on what he done for our first team, absolutely nothing. He doesn't fit into a 4-5-1. His face doesn't fit at the club - perhaps with both managers and players.

That is exactly my point about cherry picking the evidence. You just pick the stats that fit your argument. Unless you're going to take everything into account, you won't be convincing me that Dicko should be brought back and used.

Well said. Only ever going to go round in circles when anyone brings up Dickson. We'll probably never know exactly why he is never going to play for us, but we've heard enough to guess the reasons why.
Anyway, like I said earlier, Dickson was dropped to the bench for Bristol Rovers even after his goals and one assist for them. Simply must be a reason for that, if he was that good they'd be starting him every game and making sure he signs permanently.

But I do have an issue and that's why we have a debate.
Debate is what a Forum is all about. Perhaps, in this case, I have pushed the boundaries but that might just be that, as much as some believe Dicko is a complete waste of space, I actually think he could be the one to get us goals and all the time there is a chance (albeit an outside one) that he might return to us I will continue to put forward that argument. In fact, even if he doesn't I will continue to bring it to the top just to remind people of what we missed in the same way that this thread is brought to the top by some when Dicko comes on for 15 minutes and doesn't score.
I'm sorry if that offends some people but there is always the option not to respond OR to get me banned for daring to question the Management and their handling of certain players.
And when I say certain players I include Darren Randolph in that. Perhaps we'll soon get the same "he's a trouble maker" and "needs to learn to sit on the bench for three seasons" on here. If I was him I would be thinking "if I'm number 2 and I can't get a game when number 1 is injured when am I going to get one?" But, there again, if I do think like that then the next thing is that I'll be accused of is being disloyal.

I doubt it's offending anyone, but it's clear to all of us he's not going to come back and start games for us. There's only a very small outside chance because we haven't sold him yet. Like I said before, Bristol Rovers aren't even completely happy with him, he was a sub on Saturday. Does that not make you wonder why a player with a good record in this league has been dropped?
Nothing wrong with questioning the management. Randolph I know what you mean, I can't see him staying here any longer. Only reason anyone would call him a trouble maker is because of what happened at Hereford, and even then we don't know much about it.

There's a debate and then there's flogging a dead horse. Everyone knows how highly you AA and some others rate Dickson and fair play that's your opinion, the same way that some others don't rate Dickson that highly and have views as to why he was loaned out. The issue is, is that it's not a debate anymore, it's more like two kids bickering, with one saying Dickson is great and the others saying he's rubbish. I really hope Clem's plea to move on is heard but i doubt it!
PS Thank God some of you lot weren't around when Killer was playing for us 'cos you would have had him packed off back to Luton quicker than you can say "no touch, no workrate only goals to his game".
Blasphemer, comparing Chris Dickson to Killer. I shall say no more.
"Sorry I only count League Games and not mickey mouse competitions against Teams in the 4th Division." when talking about McLeod but include all four of Dickson's JPT goals against Luton in the same tournament. Yes Luton were in League 1 but they finished rock bottom that year and if I remember correctly were in administration.
As others have said you are now choosing only the stats you like just as Mortimerican chose to ignore the differences between football loans and short term contracts of employment because it didn't suit.
I really hope that Dickson learns from his time at Rovers that to be a success he needs to all round play to his game because if he does he could be a real star for us.
I would love to see him knocking in goals for us. We need goal scorers and he could be one but he also needs to do all the other stuff that modern football requires.
What is frustrating is not you taking a different view but your, and others, refusal to accept that Dickson has any limitations or that if he does these are either unimportant or all down to "poor man management" from Parkinson or Pardew when the evidence from Rovers is stacking up that this is not the case.

I am fully aware of Dicko's limitations which is why I liken him to Killer who was anything but a footballer or for that matter hard working. Ask Flash, Peewee or Paddy about that. What he could do though was score goals. And I bet the Luton fans thought exactly the same thing about Killer when he left them as some on here do now about Dicko.
What I fail to recognise is this blind allegiance to Parky. I have never called for him to be sacked (even last season when the Board said that he would be judged on results) and have even praised him in improving Kelly Youga. By the same token, however, I cannot accept that he hasn't treated some of the players under his "care" poorly. Randolph is just another instance of his hypocritical statements so far as players being near to the Team are concerned. If and when Youga is injured or suspended what's the bet he brings in another loanee and plays that new addition to the squad in preference to Basey? Why did he keep Tuna on the Bench for so many games when he clearly had no intention of giving him a run? Just to keep Dicko out of the frame?
The only thing that McLeod has done better this season than Dicko is jump higher on Parky's demand. And I suspect that Parky in his role as Pardew's number two was probably just as influential now in the decision making regarding Dicko as he is now.
[cite]Posted By: oohaahmortimer[/cite]we all know parky was not involved in coaching/assisting or anything whatsoever to do with the pardew era .... he was a wall flower... FACT ....

Sorry I must have missed that one. Didn't see it on the OS or is it another bit of Parky Propoganda conveniently leaked at a Supporters' Q & A Session? Bit like he tells a Director one minute Dicko's trouble so it's spread like wildfire and the next "he's a good lad" in the local Press.
[cite]Posted By: Addick Addict[/cite]And just one final question. Why, if Dicko is so ineffective, is Parky stopping him from playing against us?
Well you'd have to be completely stupid to allow it wouldn't you ? You're in a no win situation, the best outcome for Charlton is that he plays poorly and doesn't score and no one would be celebrating that.
But obviously if he did play well and even scored his first goal at The Valley ?
If Addick Addick is aa, then I assume that I am AA.

Dickson. Moo2kill. Randolph?
Interesting how many players that couldn't play at Charlton have gone off and done well elsewhere.
At least over the past couple of seasons.
