i never knew you were near me Ketters? In all seriousness if Thomas whats to stick his jacksie into a blokes groin so much he should move down to Brighton, maybe he if ran instead on stopping and thrusting his arris out we would see some improvement, personally I think he is a sad excuse for a professional footballer.Varney just aint a striker his confidence is rock bottom, people support and encourage him however it doesn't seem to be working.
Well, I don't know. If part-time supporter means I'm not on here 24/7, endlessly moaning and griping, fretting over everything... then yeah, I'm part-time and proud.
One question Inspector, why do you continually point the finger at the "old" fans for the booing? Without fail the worst abuse comes from the 16-24 year olds who form the "You're not fit to wear the shirt" brigade and a minority of them at that. Or is it passion if you're in your twenties? As someone else said on here, the old guard have seen a lot worse than tuesday night. CAFC 1 Cardiff 4 anyone (waits for Falconwood addick to break cover..). I refrain from booing as there are usually those on the pitch who don't deserve it, but as Riscardo says, I reserve the right to enquire occasionally what the hell is going on. For the record, on tuesday I thought we were let down by our finishing rather than any other malaise.
northstandsteve - you're clearly the funniest man in south-east England and I apologise.
Big William - because, in my experience, it's mostly the old "I've been coming here since 1963 and I've a right to boo" gits who are doing it.
If your experience is different, then that's fair enough - it's just mainly been middle-aged, bitter numpties whenever I'm been around. There's plenty of younger people who have inherited those attitudes, and have grown up with a "we pay for it, why should we care?" attitude, and yeah, I've seen a few, but not enough to make an impression on me.
People who pay their money, support the club and it's finances.
What we need on a matchday are people who actually support the team.
Sure, It helps if the team get off to a good start. But if they don't, it certainly helps lift the atmosphere if people get behind the team.
Any home team anywhere rarely play poorly when the noise, energy and atmosphere is urging the team on. Everyone pulling together, we have far better chance of getting a result - and the supporter has a more enjoyable day out.
If it's not stonewall silence, The Valley is often a cauldron of negativity and hostility aimed at the very team we are supposed to be supporting.
And we wonder why it's no longer Fortress Valley.....???
I don't like booing but i can see why some occasionally do it and i've seen all ages doing it so i wouldn't pin it to a certain age group either. My real issue with booing, around me, is that the same clowns who boo a bad result so vociferously, are either muted after a good result or have already left the ground. I just can't understand the mentality.
How is it b*llocks ? Its a fact anyone can boo if they want to. The fans are allowed to voice their dissaproval if they so wish. Some fans didnt feel happy with the effort/standard of performance the other night so let the players know that.

I would like to point out that in our relegation season it was this age bracket who made up a large chunk of the away support at 'Crucial' games like Everton away where we took 400.

Sure it's a fact that anyone can boo, but it's counter-productive, except of course when a former player returns to the Valley, on those occasions booing them usually inspires them to play well...
As a rule I prefer positive reinforcement in my work, that usually motivates me to try harder and if nothing else makes me feel appreciated. Having someone telling me I'm crap/make negative comments/picking holes in everything I do (and we've all had bosses and co-workers who do that) is likely to make me less productive.
Think also of our best years in the premiership - opposing fans/players always noted the atmosphere and that helped us, just as a negative atmosphere is only going to help the opponents.
The boo will lose it's effect, it's very too over used now, as I said earlier, it seems no matter the performance the team will be booed if we lose or are losing at half time. OTT for me, there are times and places for the boo, just not every fucking game!
"CAFC 1 Cardiff 4 anyone (waits for Falconwood addick to break cover..)"
That's where I was when we *were* shit.
In the past I am the 1st one to give players dogs abuse when they deserve it but I'd like to think most of it this season will be aimed at Pardew not the players??
What's the point of slagging a side with a 16 year and few 18 years in it etc?? Bloody pointless that.
Why not just link Pardew to an electric probe and give him a few thousand volts instead??
PH in the case of Tuesday night it is complete bolocks to be booing, in the post I think I said why in the sense that the game was no more than 25 minutes young when the slagging started. It's the second game of the season??? As much as I'm against it I could understand some of it last season and definitley the season before but Tuesday was ridiculous.
