I thought we did ok, and only ok first half. Couple of half chances, Bouazza's was a good opportunity (from a defensive error) but Holland's was a long range effort albeit a good one. Second half however I was very disappointed, there was a serious lack of quality and the ability to unlock even a poor Yeovil defence was non existent. It's players like ZZ and Ambrose that can do that job but sadly they were both unavailable. Thomas worked hard and played a couple of decent forward balls just a shame they didn't come to anything.
I thought at half time we would still win. Well done off_it how can these people who wasn't there say who should and shouldn't be playing. I thought our support was terrible. As for booing everyone at halftime what a great way to get behind the team. I'm sure there was a really long thread not two weeks ago where everyone said we should get behind the team!!! Short memories then.... As for man of the match i think Jonjo took a fair bit of critisim after saturday and rightly so. Tonight he was outstanding and bossed the midfield totally. Always wanting the ball running box to box our many others did you see scream ing for the ball like he was. I know i will get all the comments about being biased but the sponsors agreed cos he got MoM from them. How long will those younsters want to stay at a club that boo's them when they have bossed the 1st half and been unlucky to go in 1 nil down
Firstly the good points about tonight..................None
The bad:
1) wagstaff is out of his depth - needs a loan spell somewhere and not touch the 2st team untol 2010.
2) pardew had the chance to put it right at half time - brought of waggy but then proceeded to balls it up by putting on Sam...........why ?????? when was the last time Sam put in a decent cross or made something happen. Pardew should have moved Bouazza over to the right & stuck Dickson on from the off. He didn't & we lost the game.
3) The midfield 4. - both wingers are useless at what the'e paid for - feeding the strikers. Thomas at least can beat a man - Sam can't beat an egg. The central pairing is made up from a 35 yr old whose legs are gone and even at his peak couldn't make a forward pass and a 16 yr old who everybody is making out to be the next Marradonna. Good that Shelvey is he can't play 50 games a season & soon the games will catch up with him.
If someone in authority is reading this please knock on pardews door tomorrow and ask him this from me....
If Fleetwood ain't gonna play against Yeovil, why bother !
At least Shelvey was up for it and wanted the ball but to say he bossed the midfield is stretching it a bit - this game was lost in midfield - Holland doesn't look fit - Sam keeps cutting inside or going backwards Moo2 offered more going forwards than any of the midfield - Yeovil were first to the ball and the second ball - we gave away possession far too cheaply and lacked composure when through on goal - sums it up when Rob Elliott has our best chance on goal
I was there and I don't think you're biased uncle. Jonjo had a good game for me tonight.
Essentially we dominated but our finishing let us down. I too was annoyed at the prats who booed at half time. It seems that however small the crowd the bbo boys will be there.
'How long will those younsters want to stay at a club that boo's them when they have bossed the 1st half and been unlucky to go in 1 nil down'
****
Disagree strongly Uncle.
Firstly the booing wasn't as dominating as it was made out. I would say less than a 100 and it wasn't particularly audible.
Secondly, players at EVERY club are sadly going to have to get used to that i'm afraid. It is not a Charlton thing, it is like that at every single club. It is the way modern day football and supporters are. Whether its because supporters now feel dis-connected to players nowadays, are jealous, or the thirst for progression prompted by the premier league / money growth, i honestly don't know. But everyone are so demanding now.
I don't agree with it one bit, but you show me a club where this isn't happening at the moment ? Derby got booed off by 30,000 fans on the opening day of the season, for example.
Players have no other option than to take it purely with a pinch of salt.
As for tonight, well we got knocked out AGAIN at home by a club two leagues below us, one that has injury problems and were down to their bare bones, and the player who looked most threatening in the 2nd half was our own keeper going up for corners.
I agree we lost it in midfield but not the center of it. Wide players dont do what they are paid to. Also lost it in defence by conceeding such a week goal against what was a poor team. I will criticise jonjo like i will anyone but tonight he was good. Even better in the secind half when he was allowed to get forward a bit more. And if i'm not mistaken every corner he took had them in trouble. It only needed someone ia little braver to go put their head in there. Sadly our forwards aint willing to do that
I thought at half time we would still win. Well done off_it how can these people who wasn't there say who should and shouldn't be playing. I thought our support was terrible. When are our supporters ("I pays my money, so I'm gonna boo if I want....") ever going to get the message, that if you boo young players you do nothing but help destroy them.......?
As Uncle says: "I thought our support was terrible," and,
"How long will those youngsters want to stay at a club that boo's them when they have bossed the 1st half and been unlucky to go in 1 nil down?"
And sorry varney just aint up to it !!! But all said and done if the boo boy's and yes you are boys. If they are starting already its gonna be a long season
The problem is Uncle, that most if not all those who post on here don't boo the team anyway. There is a mindless group of fans who run the club/players down as soon as anything remotely goes awry. It really hacks me off. I'm sure every club has them but we do seem to have more than our fair share. It was claimed that Scott Sinclair on loan from Chelsea was affected by those who got on his back. I really hope we can keep this sort of mindless nonsense to a minimum.
Uncle - I agree but Jonjo needs a ball winner alongside him - we didn't have one tonight or on Saturday - also there were far too many wasted long balls lofted high to the front 2 - especially in the first half - when Jonjo started to take control in the second half there was precious little movement ahead of him so his passing options were limited (why won't Sam move wide into space!!)- thought Boazza was anonymous second half - thery would have been better off leaving Thomas on - and i'm not a Thomas fan!
Weird that the "boo boys" were there at a game when most could not be arsed ?
Uncle your new mate and you have to have been at some of the Cup shit to understand it. I have never booed at half time but have to say there were a few times in the last two seasons when they got full volume at the end.
It may be that we are in a downward spiral , or reaching our normal level. Maybe we have had our days in the sun. So what try being at a division 3 game in the pooring rain me and 3,000 others thats real shit
Uncle you have to be aware that if its as bad as last year there will be alot more "unrest".
I dont wana hear about all those "real fans" at Spam Park or Bagel Village they are as bad as anywhere else.
Sorry AFKA But it was audiable because i was listening to it. And having spoken to a player it was when they walked off at half time. I dont think because derby did is any reason for us to do it. I just think common sense is needed.
GH tonight wasn't a Wycombe where the booing was fully justified because the lazy so and sos didn't even break sweat.
AFKA is right in that it was only a small minority but the players will have heard it and given that we did dominate the first half it was unjustified.
Funnily enough I heard no booing at the end. They probably all buggered off early.
surely only the real die-hard fans were there tonight - can't see many of the plastics being thereso who was doing the booing????
perhaps some of the die hard fans have had enough?
perhaps some of the die hard fans want answers?
perhaps some of the die-hard fans expect a bit more from their "boys" & its finally not good enough to keep seeing enept performances against the lesser sides. The die-hard fans are used to losing - they just want some pride to be shown sometimes.
But i don't think questioning whether players would want to stay because a few people in a crowd don't understand the game will ever be the answer, because all they would find is it happening at whoever their next club would be in games where the team where underperforming. Just my opinion though.
Some of the die hard fans you describe Golfie, seem at their happiest when we are struggling as they are generally more comfortable with spouting off, worrying and fearing for the future.
Don't suppose you happen to know anyone like that ?
Goonerhater who is my new mate??? I dont want you to think i have only just started going to football cos i can assure you i've been going for 30 years and seen good and absolute c**p. Always got behind my team though
There were a few who booed but it was by no means THAT bad and it was over very quickly.....I think those that did were just showing their frustration at being a goal behind when we might easily have been a couple up...I didn't get the impression it was directed at the players as such, but more at the somewhat unjust score line!
Unfortunately booing is part of football - not something I condone especially at half time but i'll be honest if you're a young player or even an old player and you don't want to stay at a club because of a few knbheads that boo then IMO you really aren't tough enough to play the game and probably aren't up to much.
AFKA I was trying to say that they are still young and are learning their trade. As in any profession i think you will get more out of people if you try to encourage rather than just hurl abuse at the first opportunity. I'm really not trying to cause friction i just felt it was so pointless after everyone saying we should get behind them. I'll tell you something i wouldn't want that lot behind me
i didn't hear much in the way of booing at half time. Not surprised to hear it after the 2nd half. But if that was terrible, so were the team to be fair. I don't want to hear it either but you will hear it anywhere when a team is beaten at home by a poor team from a lower division.

Jonjo played better than on Saturday but we need him to reach a peak in 3-4 years.
..........
As for Elliot having our best chance may be second half but we had goo chances and good saves made in the first.

How may times have we been f**kin awful in a cup game ?
Players wellllllllllll tough shit they get paid. There are bigger issues than a few idiots booing.
Uncle your new down at The Valley though , i thought u said yourself your West Ham ?
