Pedestrian crossings within 2 metres of a roundabout. For the life of me cannot work out who thinks the safest option for pedestrians to cross is the entrance/exit of a roundabout.

Like the one in Dulwich. Utter madness - come round the roundabout & have to slam on the brakes or you plow into a bunch of pedestrians.

Every roundabout in Portugal has this.

Listening to five live on the radio coming back from the game and the presenter made a point that it surely won’t be long until a female rider wins the grand national, and I thought to myself, why does it matter if a woman wins the race? Is that going to be a groundbreaking moment in our history? Some of this gender equality stuff really does bite my wire and I agree that whatever gender you are you should get paid the same as everyone else if you are as good as the next person. But with sport If you are good enough then should it matter what gender you are?
  • I may post this on the dating thread also - and if you are of a prudish nature then please read no further.......

As some of you may know I have been on a couple of on-line dating sites & recently the results have been rather lacklustre (matches our recent 2 games I suppose) & so I thought I would try something a bit different - a "hook-up" site. I'm not proud to say that I succumbed to one of the many "dodgy" emails that regularly find their way to me & last night as there wasn't much on the TV I registered with one such site. It only took a couple of minuets as there was no need to upload a photo or even fill out a profile. Just confirmation of my age & email address & away we go. Or so I thought. Of course, with sites like these its not as "free" and easy as that & soon as went to msg a nice lady I was told that I would need to buy some credits to do so. I didn't even look at the cost, but I think 3 cost a fiver..........

Anyway, having decided that this was another lost cause I turned off my laptop & went to bed. Imagine my surprise that upon logging on again this morning my spam filter was telling me that I had some messages from this site. I say some messages, there were in fact

    68.

    Yes. SIXTY EIGHT.

Over a 12 hour period. I had not uploaded a photo & hadn't completed a profile. I just feel sorry for the sad saps who then pay hundreds of pounds to reply to these "messages".

and they say that it is women who are exploited.

  • oi suede, you try typing that out after a day on the piss and watching that shit earlier :-)

  • Riding home from a gig in a strange town then finding the only route home you know blocked by overnight roadworks but there is no proper diversion signed.

Result? Floundering around some ghastly hell hole in central England and not hone til 3.25 am.
  • People that think the phrase is “couldn’t be asked” rather than arsed.

Shame you didn't have one more message.

I reckon having to perform two 18th Century triple time ballroom dances is a pretty tough enrollment requirement for a dating site.

    I find this bizarre ?

Thomas Neuwith is a self proclaimed drag queen, so why has HIS Alta ego taken on a life of its own.

This how this story is being reported.

"Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst says she is HIV positive, and has been receiving regular treatment for several years".

The "beared lady'' is spoken about as a trans person instead of as a drag queen.

Prophetic words from Noddy Holder ?

    "Mama weer all crazee now"

This was from the BBC website but I'd noticed before the assumption that Thomas was trans gender and that Conchita was the result of this journey.
  • Journey is now an annoying overused word nowadays.
  • The seemingly endless jokes about Harry Kane claiming any goal scored in any football match. Midly amusing first time around, certainly not now.

Harry Kane has claimed that they are in fact funny still.

tbf, if someone can't "prove" that they are here legally I would hope that the Home Office do look into their circumstances. It might be the fault of the HO that boarding cards etc etc weren't kept for 60 years, but I'm sure someone who has lived & worked here for that amount of time will have enough info about them that the HO will be able to check it all.
