took us 5 hours 15 mins, but we started last (12.15am) so had 15,000 people ahead of us, then the loos at tower bridge (8 mile mark) were broken so we had to wait 30 mins whilst they fixed as the next loos were 3 miles ahead and they would be packed. we made up some time when we overtook the queues at the 10 mile mark, but helen and I are faster walkers (she did it on her own last year in 3 hours 5 minutes) and we kept on having to wait for the others to catch up. next year i'll do it in a smaller group and hopefully be in the earlier starting group as well, less queues. they dont shut the roads so you have to wait for lights to change etc. bit annoying.
no way will i be able to run the course.
it was quite funny at the end as some of the leading 'full mooners' were finishing, they'd obviously power walked the whole way and were taking it so seriously that all the half mooners were getting in their way. some woman dropepd her energy and nearly cried as it meant she had lost the 2 lead she had on some other wigglers who were having a race.
Anyone else who is doing the run getting into the habit now of when setting off in the car putting the clockometer on, and then getting worried after driving for about 1/2 hour it only says something like 8.4 miles !!!
You drive too slow!!!
Well done Suze, that is a long, long way to walk ;-(
AFKA - just a word of caution, but if you haven't done much running in a while, going straight to doing three a week - whatever the distance - could be too much.
I speak from experience of picking up injuries from trying to do too much, too soon, and then regretting it with the pain (financial and muscular!) of trying to get it sorted out by a physio.
I have completed the schedule for those who wanted to be in the beginners group. I am putting the finishing touches to the other groups now, but by my reckoning it is twenty weeks today till the actual race. Let me know if you want a copy of the schedule.

I havent been out yet !!!!!
Got to have my dinner first, Lol
I dont normally go out until after the rush hour, or the commutor traffic start think new roundabout has put in on the common. ; )
I will let you know later.
Next attachment is the get me round a bit quicker schedule. This includes a bit more variety in the training than the first schedule (including speed work elements). If any of it makes no sense then just ask.
The final schedule will be loaded tomorrow when I finish it, It is taking a bit more thought than the previous two. All three schedules are based on some 12 weeks routines I got from runners world. I have tweaked them a bit to add a few extra weeks training, as well as where I don't entirely agree with how they are structuring the progression

AFKA, just got back!! managed from my gaff, down the hill two thirds of the way around the common before coming to an abrupt halt, conviniently just outside the hospital, a steady walk back to shootershill nick, where I attempted to run up the hill and home!!! very foolish I have now lost any feeling from my eyebrows down, but encorouragingly according to Kigelia I`m ahead of schedule and can expect to finish in under a fortnight ; )
In terms of all other things for the run (CL t-shirts, post drinks venue, justgiving page etc) this will get sorted out during the summer as we don't want to dilute it over 5 months.
Six miles in 48 minutes last night with no collapse at the end so probably means I am ready to up the distance to Eight or Nine miles now. All three of my Six mile runs last week were 50 minutes flat.
finally I have finished the schedule for the ambitious ones amongst you. The first three or four weeks of it are likely to be quite easy if you are at a fairly good level of fitness already, it just depends how much running you already do. Although I have not been able to attach it yet
as for the formatting if anyone wants an excel file of the schedules then give me your email address and I will send you a copy.
