[cite]Posted By: Curb_It[/cite]its amazing the difference is when you run with someone as opposed to alone. Im hoping the music and atmosphere will uplift me to get round as i think it will for a few of us.
You speak for yourself, I'm relying on an ambulance to uplift me and get me round ;-)
Just recovering at the moment from today's run, absolutely horrible condition's to run in, it started ok with a very light drizzle and equally light breeze, and finished with a torential downpour and blowing a gale. Legs are very heavy at the moment and I felt a slight tweak in the top of my groin, and at my age a tweak in the groin could be life threatening ;-)
covered about 12miles just under 86mins yetseryda. Was great fun. Splashing in puddles like I was a kid. Only 4 weeks to go now and the organisers are still being a bit cryptic with the course, which is a little annoying.
Hope your running is all going well.
Todays tip is watch out for vicar of dibley moments when it is raining. I went through one puddle yesterday that was somewhat deeper than I anticpated and ended up in about 8 inches of water and had to stop and wring out my sock before continuing.
[cite]Posted By: WSS[/cite]Read somewhere at this stage you should be running 8 miles quite comfortably now plus one extra long run a week?
Yowzers - I'm getting there but i really need to invest in an ipod - i just get so bored and want to run home!
get someone to drive you 8 miles from home and then you have no choice, also the advantage is that with every step you get closer to home which can seem to make the run feel easier.
My legs are in pieces still from Sundays footy but i am going to try a mid rage run tonight (4 - 4 1/2 miles). Havent got as far as 8 miles yet but going to go for that on Thursday
Have you been in a bad way since the game mate? i was shattered after 5 mins but then the running training kicked in and i felt fine until the end but legs are still not working now, on top of that i seem to have triggered off the shin splints again!! Gona try a nice slow easy run tonight just to keep my mind on top of things.

Game was fine really felt like the running had helped. Felt a twinge last five minutes or so, thought nothing of it. Woke up Monday & it's a full blown groin strain. Could barely sleep last night & can now not walk properly today feels like it's on fire, hope it's gonna clear as quickly as it has flared up!
I'm finding that i'm shattered most of the time when I get home from work (7.15 at the earliest) which makes me think twice about going out for a run, getting back, cooking dinner, having a shower etc.
Therefore, as i'm more of a morning person anyway, i was thinking about getting up earlier and running first thing then having a shower and shooting off to work. Should i be preparing any other way? Eating before? Drinking the night before?

Strictly speaking you shouldn't need to eat/drink the night before as long as you diet is pretty good. But if you havent eaten for a few hours before bed then a small snack (very small, like half a banana for instance) may be a good idea. As for drinking keep yourself hydrated during the day generally should be enough and if you drink a load of water before bed you are just going to end up getting up in the night to use the toilet.
When I have run early morning I tend to get up and have a small glass of watered down fruit juice (half water/half juice) and then wake up for 15-20minutes before hand then go. I find that is fine for my needs.
Ran about 12 1/2 miles on saturday in 94mins. All went well, weather was nice, course was tough.
This week should be the last hard week of training for those of you doing the run. After the weekend, you should be looking at gradually reducing the intensity and/or distance of you runs. Try and run the same number of times per week as you have been though.
Have not been on a run for 12 days now, will be going out tonight, just hope the groin holds up as well tonight as it did at Football yesterday. Gonna wear those compression shorts which should help (Hopefully!).

Well having previously done 3 London Marathons and 2 half marathons, have to say getting fit for this one is the hardest by a country mile to excuse the pun. Out again tonight, can't recall when it was last such a struggle to get to the level of fitness needed to do a run like this. Getting older, a few sleepless nights with the baby, I dunno what it is, but blimey! If I manage to run 10 of this and walk, hobble, stagger the rest I will consider that a result. But whatever it has got to be done ;)
ive been on the piss in corfu for 7 days. took myrunning kit but where we were was too hilly and too hot. wanted to run today but shittyjet caused me to get home at 6am this morning. totally out of sync now. need to get back into but feel time is running out. panic.
Managed to do an adapted route which worked out at slightly over 10 miles (and got me a lift home) - did it in 90mins which i'm pretty pleased about.
It's amazing what little things give you a boost - I don't run with anything other than my house keys and a drink so have hardly any concept of time but when I got down to Crayford Maccy D's and it was only 8.50 really kicked me on for the leg into B'heath.
Would like to get down to 7/8min miles but it hurts a bit at the moment...
I was out last night, after a week off, I appear to back to square one struggling to reach 7 miles and I mean struggling, rest tonight out again tomorrow, and will go for it on sunday and go for the 10 miles!!!!!
just had a chocolate one after the gym. very drinkable! tho i didnt do much in the gym to deserve it. they on special at sainsurbys from 1.35 to 90 at the moment. so i bought a few.
Went out with Mr Ketman last night and really struggled. The shins are giving me real grief after barely getting into a running stride. Walked most of the 4 miles, with just some small bursts of jogging. Not looking good.

Think it works out as my first foray into double digit miles.
Bit of a hilly route but hey ho.
"It's not small it's just the compression shorts"

For Goodness shakes
Got myself a free sample voucher from the website this morning.
Really think i'm going to carry on running post the race - got my appetite back for running for the first time since i was about 12.
Dont give up mate.
You know Ketman well then?! LOL
