well i was planning to get dropped off at the 02 then get the mrs to drive and park at the anchor where she can watch us stumble past, then walk back to 02 to watch us finish. so if any Sidcupers need a lift let me know. Are we all planing to meet up a bit earlier on the day for photos etc?
do you think everyone will have time for that beforehand. I assume the serious runners will want to get sorted out and all be at the front of the race ibn their respective time sections. whereas ill be at the back.
In addition to AFKA's post - the favourable pub looks the Anchor and I think thats where we'll end up but will post everything at once early next week.
[cite]Posted By: Curb_It[/cite]sorry TCE. I dont use my hotmail account and somehow thats the one on the list.
Ive just seen your message re shirts.
The shirts are here! if any of the ATHLETE's!! have not let me know what you wish me do as far as getting your shirt from me, then please mail me so we can sort something out, going to try HILLREACH myself tonight Curbit_it But as I have just got home from work it will be a later run than normal, I just had my pre run meal of 2 coffees and a slice of chocolate cake, anyone walking the dog in Hillreach later, mind where you put your feet!!!!!
Hopefully they will sweep the roads and pavements before sunday week, after todays rain, the leaves, conkers and conker shells in Ha Ha and Repository roads are an accident waiting to happen, its fecking horrendous!! Tonight I wanted include Hillreach and John Wilson street into my run, and although not actually running on the official course I managed to run both stages at the correct miles as per the race, in total just under 8 miles for the night and I felt reasonably well enough to complete the run up the hill to home which was a bonus, no injuries, but I forgot the plasters so I'm suffering again :-(
T.C.E >> you mention plasters - have you been suffering from blisters? If so, I've found taping your feet with zinc oxide tape works a treat and stops the majority of them on the sole of the feet. If you still get some, compeed blister plasters are absolutely fantastic for healing them up super quick! Think they were £3.99 for 6 medium size plasters in Boots the last time I got some. You could also try a compeed blister stick which you rub over the soles of the feet which helps prevent them too...
Would the runners be interested in contributing a tenner each to organise plates of sarnies and stuff in the Anchor afterwards. we can choose as little or as much as we like. but if we choose this pub as a location they can do us some grub. im sure the runners wont mind coughing up some money if their friends and family have come to watch them run.
thats if we choose the anchor. there are some concerns about not being able to shower. surely if we all go en masse stinking no one will say owt... as i keep saying to AFKA Wet Wipes can work wonders.
had nothing in da10 either. I am slightly dubious about the organisation of this event currently. What with the delays publishing the route, constant changing of the date they will send details out, along with suddenly crying out for volunteers (going as far as offering a free place in the race if you persuade a mate to help out at the event), my confidence of a smoothly arranged 13.1miles is not high at the moment.

Sorry Johnboy, you got the wrong end of the stick or at least the body!!!! the plasters were for the old "Raspberry Ripples" mate been giving me grief they have :-( But thanks for your concern.
Nothing here either as far as race packs, as far as the sandwiches are concerned if you could do an extra round with the crusts cuts off, as my good lady will be in attendance, the money's not a problem.
Well I came home to find my pack on my doorstep. Look out for number 3192 when watching highlights on Channel 4!
Just got back from a rather hilly approx 6 miles - running down towards greenhithe roundabout then back up by the road running by bluewater. Its made my knees a little sore but done it in 50 minutes. Thats just over 8 minutes a mile, i'd like to get that down but if i complete the 13 miles at 8 mins/mile i'll be happy I think.
Starting to get a little nervous now though - I think (hope) the running in the crowd and the adrenaline of the day will count for a lot as well.
Great stories on here and some much needed inspiration from all taking part, hats off to the hard work that has been put in. It will be a privilege to run with you all next Sunday week. Did 8 miles tonight in about 1 hour 25. There was a bit still left in the tank,( bloody tired now tho!) so I'm hoping I can run 10 of it and hobble/walk jog crawl the rest. All those that have run 7+ you WILL do it next week, you will get a couple of extra miles out of the buzz of the event anyway, and hopefully we will all being helping each other round. And 13 miles is a 'king long way, let's not forget that, if you can run 5 miles you are pretty healthy in anybody's book, so well done everyone. As for me, I did not know that I could be in this race till a few weeks back, and I had been planning to do something with the kids at school to raise some money. I had been very laid back about training for this, thinking how fast and how long can primary kids run anyway? And I had planned to sneak off for a few cups of tea so I had only run maybe a mile and a half up till that point. Running a marathon previously does keep up your fitness level to a certain extent, but this has been a real crash course in getting distance up. 3 weeks ago, I was really struggling to run 3- 4 miles, but I have just extended every run and it seems to have worked. Anyway, good luck everyone with your last bits of training, that's my last big run till the race, I can't tell you how pleased I won't be running up a road near me again that never seems to end. :)
Did a 5k on the treadmill yesterday and just a bit faster than race pace . Rest day today. Then a couple of miles with my son tomorrow morning and around 8 miles on Sunday. Then it will be 2 or 3 easy runs next week and ready for the race.

yes, me or glenn will post up the details beginning of next week when we get confirmation of photographer etc.
Also, if anyone nearby has a Charlton flag we can use for our group photos, would you mind donating it for the day ?
