  • I'm glad to say I think I'm over the worst of my man flu episode. Still a little bunged up but sure I'll be able to cope, although I still sound like Darth Vader. I've got my biggest test of all tomorrow - AFKAs teaching me how to run 10min/mile pace over 9/10 miles. Oh dear. I think I'm going to die.
  • [cite]Posted By: 3blokes[/cite]...I can't tell you how pleased I won't be running up a road near me again that never seems to end. :)

Well I dont know about everyone else, but I'm hoping to keep the training up as much as I can after the run. I know I've been through one hell of a time in the last 4/5 months and its done wonders for me to take my mind off things but I have just so enjoyed getting fit again. I've lost nearly 2 stone and I just feel so much better now physically than I did. I've really got back into my running now and I think I'd miss it if I were to just give it up now. If you want some peace, quiet and you want to free your mind from whatever stress you might have, there's nothing better than getting the running kit on, heading off out and listening to the iPod.
  • Still no Number or race details for me :-(

Sounds like a bloody good plan we can do the bit from the dome and sneak in tthe anchor to save some tables
  • I'll save you all tablesllll! I'm coming down bright and early to cheer you all on as much as I can and then buy you some well deserve drinks in the pub afterwards!!!!

I'll also bring wet wipes and deodrant :-)
  • Many thanks we will need them
  • god have you lost two stone... ive put a stone on. cant wait to get back to spinning.
  • im with you Tavern!!!!

Suzie i will get my mrs to look out for you, she is going to watch from that area too and is complaing that she doesnt know anyone. can you please turn up with a name badge

  • Told my mate who lives in charlton lane she can walk down the bottom to cheer us on from the horse then walk back up the road to cheer from the village. simple.
  • I don't know how i'm gonna manage it, but i want to try to watch you as often as possible at the start when you're all loving it and at the end when you'll need the encouragement. I also found its good to have crowds in the quieter bits when you'll need the encouragement. when I did a race before i felt better when getting cheered on by peoples friends and family, people are so nice!

I won't be wearing a badge - erm, i'll wear my red coat so she can spot me, but i'm no longer blonde so the red coat will make me stand out a bit hopefully.
  • can you stop changing please !!!!!! i demand you turn up with one of those huge clowns flowers that squirt water ;0)
  • race documents just came in post! i am 8290
  • Has a clear map in brouchure of the run, made me feel better to see where the couple of hills are
  • also you get a chip and no not the type you eat
  • [cite]Posted By: Tavern[/cite]also you get a chip and no not the type you eat
They say put it round your ankle but, i've always laced it into my shoes...

I might try and throw the chip the last 3 miles - might be easier than actually running it!
  • Why is my number ELEVEN THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED NINETY SEVEN ? FOR F**** SAKE I have worked my n**s off for the last six months and I'm not even expected to finish before dark, and from what I remember there's only 10,000 runners, what sort of encouragement is that ;-)

    lol.

The good thing for us fellas is that 55% of the runners are women. If you get a good rear to follow then it could be very motivating. ;-)

  • I think TCE it will be based roughly on what time you put down you expected to complete the race in. You obviously put a much slower time than most others.

So true. Was in the gym last week and had already done 30mins on the treadmill when this absolutely drop dead gorgeous blonde got on the cross-trainer next to me so rather than stop, done an extra 30mins at greater speed and incline.

A simular thing happened last sunday I think (memory's gone as well) a spritely young swept passed me by greenwich park with those 3/4 length lycra leggings on, and boy did she know what she was doing!! she stayed far enough in front of me to wind me up a bit so I stepped up the pace a bit (cos the eyes are well gone) to get a closer look and then put her toe down, I spent the rest of the morning running through greenwich park like Clive Mendonca after scoring at Wembley.
By the way with the running shirts my sister sent some 3/4 length lycra leggings for us to wear on the day, and as a sponsor she insists they are worn. :-)
