  • Think we are going to have to take our chances when offered, great to get the win and I look it as 3 points on the board and 42 more to go to be safe be great to get to that point sooner rather than later.

Deserved the win Watford were awful that Being said a slip up from our goalie nearly gifted them a goal.
That's a big part of things.

Look at Sheff Utd Bristol game. Shots on target, Sheff had 6 with Bristol having 5. Yet it finished Bristol winning game 4-1.
  • The best way to not make mistakes is to do nothing.

If you get through a lot of work, if you do that work at a high pace, if you are trying to make things happen, the odds are you are going to make a mistake now and then.

If fit, I fully expect him to play a part in every league game this season. He is a top player.

I think the vast majority of our fans know that. I just think you can get a different perspective as the same people say the same thing over and over again.

As the rumours thread is full of post-match analysis, can we have some rumours here?

    Just for you AA.
Our Summer business for incomings are nearly done with a decision made on the Wolves lad soon.

Outgoings will surely see Daniel Kanu get a loan though Nathan loves his work rate and closing down abilities and at 20 he still has time to have a good career if he can add the goals. Wimbledon would've been ideal but Godden's injury and both Kelman and Knibbs protracted transfer sagas meant we were short of attacking options so Wimbledon went elsewhere.

If Fullah get ahead of Dixon in the pecking order then Dixon should get a League 2 loan for game time.

If/when Burke is fit then A.Mitchell should get a loan in League 1.

Surprised there haven't been more posts castigating Lord Conor for almost hitting a corner straight out of play in the 94th minute ;)
While it was in the air I said to my daughter, ‘Well that’s a waste of a corner’.
My nephew said exactly the same thing
I was the same, thought, "Another bloody waste, oh it's been kept in.....GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Went to read comments on Watford’s post match podcast, they replied to a comment from one of our fans and picked out TC as a player who hurt them.

I'm not surprised they noticed that. We are weirdly critical of TC on here, fans were always very quick to jump on him during the Holden/Appleton times and it doesn't take much to turn them even now after he was a key player in our promotion. He was so involved yesterday. He misplaced some very simple passes which was frustrating but his passing rate was 15/20 for 75%, which is decent for a player who will be looking to play passes that are more likely to be cut out. Carey's passing rate for instance was 13/19 for 68% . The rest of TC's effort was huge though. He had 32 touches, won both his ground duels, blocked a shot that he threw himself at, created 1 big chance, made a clearance and won a free kick. He worked his socks off. Kelman in comparison touched the ball 14 times, completed 3 of 5 passes, lost possession 5 times and made one tackle. He didn't involve himself enough unlike TC who found space and demanded the ball. Campbell was always the one who was forcing their defence back, stopping them from pushing up too high and threatening to run in behind. They were visibly worried every time he got on the ball. Those couple of misplaced passes are all that some of our fans seem to have noticed though, it's bizarre
I don't think TC was at his very best but you could see that he terrified them. That is important.
  • Just caught up with reading the whole of the thread wasn’t there on Saturday it’s still the cricket season and I haven’t got much playing time left in my body so will continue to attempt to play for the twos , although ones were so short they asked for me , I turned down the tfc
Found out the result at drinks and let out a small yelp of delight and another one as some bell told me the wrong scum result and that Norwich had won , wasn’t till 8pm that I found out their correct score .
Brilliant result for us , looking at that record for our last 16 home games is unreal … will Stevenage or over land and sea and cause the defeat or the inevitable my first game of the season against the scum zzzzz

really good to feel the excitement of the fans there reading about it but I’ll reserve the only judgement that I trust (moi) when I see it with my own eyes .

  • Was it Dave Lockwood back doing the pre match announcements instead of Brian Coles??
  • edited 8:23AM
I have to be honest and say I have had my reservations about our manager but I am growing to love him. Maybe he is somebody you have to get to know. I loved the Watford fans calling him a Wanker all game then him going up to them at the end and giving them victory fist pumps. Then they get upset! Football fans are far to precious and I loved that. I wouldn't do it, but then again, I wouldn't tape my fingers up and there are lots of things Nathan does that I wouldn't do. So I didn't get the man at first but I think I am getting him now and that is why I am liking him. This has nothing to do with results. I was more than happy not to like him and have him successful.

    Yes.

  • Thoroughly enjoyed the match, a well deserved win. I really noticed the step up in quality, seeing a Championship game live for the first time in years. Caught up on the ITV highlights last night, for what it's worth I thought our penalty shout was stonewall, but theirs was the right decision - the ball had been passed off well before Kaminski clattered Irankunda, he hadn't pushed it round him to persue it, it was a pass across the box. Be interesting to see the line up tomorrow night - is there a rule about how many players you can rest in the league cup?
  • What were Dave and SCP chatting about before the game? Didn't get in until 5 minutes after kick off so totally missed the pre game stuff

SCP was introduced to the crowd and BDL asked him about his time at Charlton and his relationship with the club and supporters.
  • Sonny Carey looks mustard, will be interesting to see how we go against a well drilled team next Saturday. i think the key is be difficult to beat at home and will get enough points. fans were good on saturday aswell.

Oh! Was hoping he'd suddenly become involved with the club again. Thanks for replying on it

Got some engine on him eh! He wasn't just running aimlessly either. Intelligent running that either opened up space or found it for himself. Looks a top player

It’s funny, but I’ve always found your percentages interesting. Sometimes I more or less agree, while sometimes I have no idea what your reasoning is! 😂

What sort of start do you reckon we would need to have for that 0% at the top to change? 🤔

I think that's what separates the pro- and anti- TC views in general. If you look at the "pure" numbers there's lots of games where he doesn't seem to actually do much -  no goals or assists etc.

But the counter argument is that his being on the pitch scares other teams with the chance he might do something and that chance means other players get opportunities.
