IMO. We have had a number of young players who could have done a job in League one - Pope & Harriot being examples. Unless in the unlikely case that there is someone coming in to replace, this move makes no footballing sense to me.

Duchatelet declining to pay for Bulot and Henry on the wings last season, heavily contributed to the relegation last season. I don't know how you manage to be so sanguine. The only main pace in the team, Lookman, to be sold. Lookman is great but is going to be a bit variable due to his age. There's no cover there. Charlton have sold the other bit of pace on the other wing having sold Harriot.
Fox is a decent left back, if he wasn't then WHU or Ipswich would not be interested in him. He has been very exposed at left back due to having crap players like Bergdich infront of him or players with no threat or pace. Decent left backs - 10 a penny. So about 3 to 4 weeks before the loan window closes, we are asking a young left back to step up, with a very young left back cover.
So having not found a creative centre midfield, you are happy for all the pace to disappear of the wings and for the left back to go as well ? Where is the service for Ajose ? Alongside that off the left back goes. End of August the window closes. So that would be another 4 players to go with Meire dragging her heels over every signing. Duchatelet is going to find another 4 decent players ?
One step forward, one to one &a half /two steps back. The only hope is that Slade is in there battling & being upfront about what a competitive squad needs. Meire more of a hindrance than a help.

Players still have to be paid when they are injured and, in hindsight, our beloved leaders would surely concede that the squad was simply not big enough - not enough quality in reserve for when the sh*t hit the fan re injuries, which is the misfortune that occurred.

Add in no extra investment to the backroom strategy to keep players injury free (similar to Leicester) & the thin squad looks again obviously short sighted & not good enough.
Lookman is great but is a young player & will be variable in form. It is not good for that player's development to have no back up. That if he is still at Charlton by the time the season starts.
The only possible thing that stops an utter shambles, is Slade pointing out to Duchatelet's clueless representative the reality of things. Even whilst that is going on, quality players are moved on, whilst Meire drags her feet (at Duchatlet's instruction) about modest squad replacements.
BTW, we didn't lose players, Charlton let them go. The budget has been consistently wasted & continues to be so, how much of those loan wages are Charlton still paying for ? The relegation & reduction in budget is entirely down to Duchatelet's flawed strategy & general incompetence in implementation. Duchatelet needs to go & take Meire with him.

Would just like to add that we were certainly unlucky with the number of long term injuries we sustained over a short space of time, unlucky wth Igor never recovering his mojo and Tony Watt could have made the difference if his head were in the right place - seems like he'll be a lifelong handful for any Manager who is deluded enough to believe he can get those enviable talents to manifest themselves on a regular and team-oriented basis.
By losing players I also was referring to injuries.
