Sky news showing car on fire in croydon

    Yesterday.
    no , right now
  • IPCC have now confirmed that no evidence that Mark Duggan fired on police. The bullet lodged in the police radio was police issue. Just reporting on BBC.

He had a gun though right?

    Enough for me.
  • They were asked that. The response was something along the lines of "they is rich and got business, hope it carries on tonight. We do what we want" Utter utter pond life.
But to someone without a pot to piss in, someone who owns or even just works in a shop is comparatively "rich". Obviously I don't know the background of those two drunk girls interviewed, and it in no way justifies their actions, but if they do live below the poverty line they would likely see everyone above it as "rich". It's a comparative term, and doesn't always signify a millionaire.
That doesn't mean they can steal and set fire to make it 'fair' again.
the celebrity culture of having what you want by doing very little isn't helping the situation.

I agree - TV seems largely to be a constant barrage of adverts, product placement and programmes about rich people droning on about their pointless lives and either shopping or going on holiday.

Kids are spoonfed this from an early age and it seems to form the limits of their worldview.

    Sad and pathetic

If you carry a gun, then there is no complaint from me if you get shot

  • Ironically i dont think ive ever known such community spirit in London amongst decent people as Ive known the past couple of days.

Lets hope the tide is turning in a good way and people will start uniting in standing up against the sort of scum on a day to day basis for their general behaviour.

exactly this , no one complained too much when the police shot that lawyer in Kings Road
  • I don't have any real ideas about how to deal with the immediate situation, although it has reminded me of an Edmund Burke quote: "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing"

In the long term I would like to see judges given the power to pass on to parents any guilty verdicts handed out to juveniles where they see fit, along with state-sponsored parenting classes. If a scumbag kid riots, the jail term can be passed onto it's excuse of a parent. Also would like to see and end to the social policy of trying to make sure children stay with their parents.

    This

Known drug dealer and armed. It should be this simple, you go out with a gun unlawfully then you risk getting shot. You are not a victim, you do not deserve sympathy, you carry a gun then you risk getting shot.

Don't want to get shot, then don't carry a gun. Don't want the police after you, then don't deal drugs.

Do the police have to wait for an armed criminal to kill someone before they're allowed to fire back?

Yeah, another worry is the tarred with the same brush thing. My son is 17, he is a decent person, it saddens me that he only has to exist to frighten some people, or for others to assume he is part of the wrong 'uns. I can't wrap him in cotton wool, or shield him from reality, and he is one representative of the 99.9999999999999% of youth who are simply great.

From one of my Facebook pals:

Xxxxx Xxxxx has just witnessed a traffic warden being assaulted, the window of dominoes being smashed in and mobile shop looted... Guess what, no sign of the promised 16,000 strong police force in Fulham!!!

Scumbag with a loaded gun got shot by rozzers.....what is there to have a problem with?

I wouldn't mind a few trigger happy OB out on the streets tonight - might deter a few scumbags and get the welfare bill reduced in one fell swoop.
  • He has been bought up to know right from wrong and guided right Seth?

Let's get it clear my boy would be up and down welling high st finding out what was happening if he could, but me? No I'm fckin sensible and put me foot down.

Anybody standing with the Slags (iPhone changed Slags to slaves, that would have been me banned) is fair game and tarred with the same brush in my opinion.

Went past Brixton, Hackney and Lewisham on the train all pretty quiet. Did notice black smoke in the distance though. Not sure if it was just the remains of yesterday or something new.

Problem is it works both ways, those prats that carry firearms and expect not to get any grief are the first people the police are worried about.  On the flip side if the OB carried more and started letting a few rounds off then with the amount of both illegal and legal firearms there are available then you will see coppers getting shot - and no one wants this.

What baffles me a little is why the Police have not resorted to water canons or more serious action, there was someone on the BBC News (can't remember who- maybe a commissioner) saying they want to show the Met can deal with these riots without resorting to water canons or calling in the army. Surely with a reported 500 million pound damage, it has gone past that and we need to get these scumbags off the street.

Water cannons just don't work unless the crowd is trapped, or slow moving, not quick and nippy and know all the back lanes.

Plus by the time you fill one the trouble is gone.

Rubber bullets on the other hand

How about the police get to use paintballs with permanent ink in them?

Shoot the scumbags with them and then nick everyone who has it on them.

problem is, calling in the army could be the first step towards a military dictatorship, that's why the USA has the Nat Guard, a citizens militia (which is a good idea) .. do we really need a Colonel Blimp or a General Jackson running the country?
