  • he deserved to be shot
  • Can't be long now before Shami Chakrabati pops up to say one of her clients is going to sue Curry's because the 42" flat screen he nicked last night hasn't got any batteries in the remote control, and that infringes his 'uman rights.
  • yeah your open minded well done paper hat is in the post. now leave it ffs.
  • Tell you what Shine - pop down Croydon and have a mosey round. Fifty yards away from my house there are four burnt out cars, and at least 15 businesses (provately run businesses, I might add) completely annihilated. There is a block of six shops completely and utterly torched - with 20 flats above them (at least they were yesterday) totally gone. That's at least 50 peoples' livelihoods (and/or lives themselves) ruined.

Now ask yourself whether this is the right time to start talking about whether some c***'s illegal firearm was loaded or not when the old bill capped him

AGREED. One less gangsta off the streets.

  • Sorry... thats what ive been trying to do. Can I have a link to your facts please ? as these may help me become as informed as yourself

Im afraid I dont have a link to the BBC 6 o'clock news. Maybe try watching the news and you'll learn these facts for yourself. Stop whining about whether some bloke should have been shot or not, either way whats going on is bloody awful and shouldnt happen whether he deserved to be shot or not. If your trying to tell me that all this trouble, in places as far away as Ealing, is all because of this shooting then im sorry but your deluded. This is now scum of the earth running around having some fun. If you heard the interview with 2 drunk girls posted up here earlier you might realise.
  • got told its up to us whether to close our westfield shop today, unanimous vote to go home, about 80 percent of the stores seem to be closing too, but i doubt anything major will happen they have deep lines of security and anti riot fences infront of all the entrances. nothing going on in anf around london bridge either just normal rush hour madness
  • Don't care if it was loaded or not.

The rumour I have heard was that he was on a revenge mission as a relative was killed not so long ago. The police were tipped off and were tracking him. So not only was he carrying an illegal firearm, but he was on his way to commit murder.

Even if the weapon wasn't loaded, even if it was a very good fake, the police are still right to fire first. Or do they have to politely ask the known, armed criminal if his gun is loaded or not before they do anything, maybe they should have waited until he killed somebody just to be sure it was loaded.

You carry a gun you risk getting shot, whether that gun be real or fake, deactivated, unloaded, loaded, whatever. Don't want to get shot, don't carry a gun or any type.

The armed police don't randomly follow people, there is investigation and they have to have the go ahead from above. Now this system may fail occasionally, but the fact this guy had a gun proves it didn't fail, whether he shot first or not is completely immaterial. The police had evidence he was going out armed and they acted on it.

What would you say if some scum shot one of your family, and then you found out the police knew he was armed, but didn't do anything about it.
  • The only good 'gangsta' is a dead one.  Simple as.
  • Just been text by pal that it is going off in eltham

As of 10 mins ago it was pretty much a ghost town.
  • Shine - Do you suggest the police wait until someone is shot to confirm whether the gun was loaded, they have a split second to make a decision otherwise people die. The simple answer is don't carry a gun, if someone choses to they have to be prepared to accept the consequences that may ultimately bring. Sorry for his family but it was his decision to go out with a gun.

  • Eltham High St about 30mins ago - all looks calm right now http://twitpic.com/63ipfj
  • Someone on my gf's facebook was boasting about how she looted places, now she's being turned in by the gf, oh life is such fun
  • Falconwood is quiet.

well... funnily enough I watched the same news and no mention of a loaded gun.... just the guy shot after he fired NO BULLETS

Im not saying the riots are about the shooting, never mentioned it once.... although as you are so good at facts im sure you will try prove me wrong
  • Bexley Road by Crown Woods is normal. Bookies, Nisa, Indian, Chinese and Chip Shop all open.
  • Please.
  • Just had a text from a mate that Millwall hooligans are 'firmed' up in Eltham, travelled from all over. Bermondsey, Kent etc to protect Eltham.

In a way, i feel honoured.

    Im impressed

  • I'm in no way defending the scum that have been looting and vandalising cities across the country and neither am I defending a man carrying a gun capable of firing live ammunition. However serious questions have to be answered by the police. As a member of the public I would be extremely worried if the police killed a man when a shot had not been fired or if he was not about to use it. And even more worrying is this bullet that was lodged in the radio, initially we were told it had saved a policeman's life by being lodged there now we find out that bullet is police issue, how did it get there?

For quite a while I have lost faith in our police force (through my own experiences and through friends who are in the force) and this is incident is not doing anything to change those feelings.
  • EGA, just what I was told by TSG officers while on the Student Demos last year, they believe water cannons won't work
Former Met Police Commander on 5 Live earlier said that they don't have any and nobody is trained to use them, plus they could be ineffective.
  • Wonder what shine would say if he had a gangster pointing a gun loaded or unloaded at him with police pointing a gun at the gangster.

Maybe shoot him in the legs

  • Ok shine, as you clearly need your ears tested, lets see if you can read. Look at this link....http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/aug/09/mark-duggan-police-ipcc......now look about halfway down and you'll see the following paragraph:

'The non-police firearm found at the scene was a converted BBM Bruni self-loading pistol. The gun was found to have a "bulleted cartridge" in the magazine, which is being subjected to further forensic tests'

    Anything else you want proving?

The IPCC have just given a full interview on the initial results.

The guy was carrying a LOADED BRUNI 8mm AUTOMATIC PISTOL with a round in the chamber.

    You play with fire...........

  • Shine is from Torquay, it always make me laugh how may of these bleeding-heart liberals comment from a safe distance, or are the grannies looting on the English Rivera now?

He carried a loaded gun FFS and was a drug pusher.

  • Guys, we don't have all the facts on what happened with the bloke who got shot in Tottenham, and the speculation is just unhelpful. Can we just keep this thread for information about what's going on tonight please?
  • Just picked My Dad up from Lewisham Hospital. Drove from Sydenham to Brockley to Ladywell. Saw a total of 5 "plastic Police", 3 at the end of Mayow Road talking to 1 white & 1 black youths, and the other 2 eating chips outside a takeaway in Ladywell. Was out for over an hour and that was about it, other than 80% of shops with shutters down.
  • dead link ironically
  • riot police moving in around Canning town

from or live ? see you have bullshit facts too, I spent the first 20 years of my life in Luton.... exactly where I am now.
  • Why are people even raising the shot first/loaded gun issue?

If someone is carrying a gun, a lethal weapon that can be fired in a fraction of a second, with absolutely no way to tell from a distance if it's loaded/activated, then the only way to guarantee they will not fire it is to take them out as quickly as possible.

Don't want to get shot, don't carry a gun FFS!

If you're carrying a gun illegally and you get shot, tough shit and good riddance, you're stupidity just outweighed your right to live.
