Don’t really want the season to start now.I know what you mean. There would always be the danger of losing matches. Perhaps even getting a real thrashing at the hands of the big boys.
Much better just to go signing one very good new player a week and bragging about how we are going to surprise everyone.
The King of Prussia created a formidable regiment of six-footers (giants in those days) and drilled them to perfection. But never let them go into battle in case one of them got wounded.

I think, for once, we have goals from all over the pitch !AndyG said:
By that do you mean you think we have enough strikers now lolgolfaddick said:Can I be the first one to say.....
I think we've signed too many players. No idea where they are all going to fit in. Knibbs & Costello ? Coventry & Doc ? What about Berry ?
Doing my head in 😉😆.5 -

This is good, but do you have anything from someone who isn't called Trystan?0 -
Seems to have left the forum...must consider his work is done! Or prefers "over there".Charlton and on said:

Mate I’m pretty confident that although it might take a few games to gel once it does there isn’t going to be much to be negative about this seasongolfaddick said:

I agree with what you said earlier how the hell NJ picks a team now is beyond me but I’m sure whenever the match day starters are announced we will have a few pages on here moaning someone isn’t picked lol1 -
Charlton have signed Rob Apter from Blackpool. A young winger (22) with an eye for goal. Saw this lad playing for Bamber Bridge when in his teens way too good for that level. One we should have been all over but too focused on relegated teams from Europe and therefore missing one on your doorstep.
Preston are more toothless than us in attack for sure, 2 goals scored in 4 pre season games and 1 of them was against Chorley....I think they'll struggle this season.
they`ve brought in a lot of players, but none of them seem very good, apart from the goalie iversen and the lad from charlton terry small
Bit of cheer from Blackburn types. They're a little less gobby about us at the moment than they were. Even a couple saying they should have been looking at Knibbs.

Starting to get very tempted by 11/4 top half... would be a massive achievement and think may get a run for your money0

We deserve this after decades of shite.52

12/1 for top six. Go on ....5 -
Still around - trying to enjoy both. Really pleased that Knibbs has been confirmed. Knibbs was one of those players we wanted whether league one or champ and the No.1 target. Think he knits this team together now.CafcWest said:

I think this one would be more appropriate now:

Named after the Arsenal striker Terry Henry.theeenorth said:Charlton have signed Rob Apter from Blackpool. A young winger (22) with an eye for goal. It will be interesting to see who leaves now. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Berry and Godden moved on8

Berry is probably on pretty decent money. Doubt he’d get a Championship gig that easily so I suspect his wages might make it difficult to move him on but I doubt Jones wants to.jakecafc said:
Could possibly see Berry go, but Godden's experience will be vital for players like Kelman to learn from. I'd be very surprised if he left.AndyG said:It will be interesting to see who leaves now. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Berry and Godden moved on0 -
Would like both to stay. Berry scored a good few important goals last season that only he would've scored.jakecafc said:

Can't see Godden going anywhere, NJ has a proper mancrush on himAndyG said:It will be interesting to see who leaves now. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Berry and Godden moved on2 -
I doubt they will go anywhere rather than see out their contracts, unless they got a better offer elsewhere which is unlikely given their ages. But I doubt they will be very near the first 11 barring a massive injury crisis ( which they already appear to be starting)AndyG said:It will be interesting to see who leaves now. No way Godden is going anywhere. Will have a huge role to play on and off the pitch.14

We do have a big squad now but I don't see a huge number of departures. Obviously we're trying to get rid of Ahadme for some reason, we'll likely try and loan out Kanu but beyond that it remains to be seen. AMB will surely be looking to move on but there's no noise at the moment, one of the Mitchell brothers will likely be off on loan - or permanently in Alex's case - but I don't see a load of movement beyond that. Taylor is too injured to go anywhere and we've got 7 other centre mids but given Knibbs hasn't had much of a preseason and Berry is coming back from injury I'd be surprised to see any of them go anywhere before January. I think once we've moved on those we actively want to I wouldn't be surprised if we keep more than we shift unless some teams get very desperate on deadline day4
-
I wouldn't mind Berry staying either. He done a decent job last season but is 33 now and I did feel he lacked the pace for Jones' pressing style. He could be good to come off the bench if we need an impact sub this season, but we've got very good competition for the first time in a long time, including younsters like Fullah coming through. Exciting times.up_the_valley said:

I'm absolutely certain Godden will make at least 30 appearances for us next season, unless he gets injured.3
