With the exception of a handful of clubs eg Man City and Chelsea every club will sell their best players with the right offer.sam3110 said:Insurance for when he smacks in 9 goals in 17 games and gets a big money move in January
Established Premier clubs like Brighton and West Ham have done it for years.
It’s when and at what price you sell.
If Leaburn scores 9 in 17 and someone comes in with a £2m offer in January do I think these owners will sell? Absolutely not.If he scores 15 goals for the season and the club are relegated and the same offer comes in next summer maybe so.
These owners are certainly no Roland.3 -

How does she know? Does he still live at home & she takes monthly measurements up the door frame 😄.ct_addick said:His mother said he has stopped growing so hopefully he will have less injuries.
I wasn’t talking specifically about the Leaburn family but in general.
I have teenagers and don’t notice that there getting taller so much as when I see their friends ftom time to time.
Jeez, do I really have to explain it like you’re a bunch of idiots?3 -
The stats are even more impressive considering his age. Young strikers rarely come into the game and start dominating CBs in the air straight away. The youth game is almost all on the floor, so they have to develop that side over time. By the time he's peaking, he'll be an aerial monster.Braziliance said:
Guilty of saying Miles didn't win enough in the air previously, and it made me realise the impact of unconscious bias in football. Because so many people were saying it, things seem more drastic than they were. I don't think his height does him any favours either as he is expected by people to win more, but he wins 50% of his aerial duels.Scoham said:
They talked about this on Charlton Live, he was up there in terms of number of headers won despite missing much of the season.golfaddick said:Well, if he is 6ft 7 he needs to start winning some farking headers then !
Leaburn not winning headers has become a bit of a myth, I think it comes from the expectations to win almost everything due to his height.
If you match him up against other strikers who are tall and world class, who you would expect to do well in the air, he does very well. Miles at an average of 5.2 aerial duels a game (51% success) is better than Haaland, 0.8 per game (50%) and Kane 0.2 per game (17%). Of course the football probably spends less time in the air in their teams, but it still shows his success rate.
If we compare him to Godden, who seemed to win everything it felt, Matty won an average of 2.8 per game (41%).
Another good benchmark is Vadaine Oliver who was notorious for being an aerially dominant striker, in Vadaine's best season, he won an average of 10.2 per game (55%).
Will attach all their stats below, but basically, Miles aerial threat is actually overlooked, if he was a centre back and was behind a forward, you would likely see a similar dominance of what Lloyd Jones does.5 -

Our strikers may not get 15+ goals next season (is that each or between them? 🤔) but what about our defenders?
We had a spell last season where only defenders scored and Macca was the Wembley hero.
Jones and Gillespiephey: our main goal-scoring threats.

To Which I replied and a couple of others said we don’t think he will.

According to FotMob, last season Leaburn won 9.43 aerial duels per 90 minutes, good enough to be in the top 4% in the league.
He also had a 50.7% aerial duel success rate, good enough for the top 9% of the league.7 -
I really like Leaburn, so this isn't a criticism of him, but I think that win rate on duels is sometimes the wrong metric to look at.Callumcafc said:According to FotMob, last season Leaburn won 9.43 aerial duels per 90 minutes, good enough to be in the top 4% in the league.

More important is how often we retain possession after a duel. There were a few times that Leaburn would win his header, only to direct it to no-one, or directly to the opposition. One of the things that was impressive with Godden was how even when he lost a header, he often made it impossible for the defender to do anything other than head it out for a throw, or knock it down for Berry/Anderson to make a challenge. His success at getting us up the pitch was fantastic.
The good thing is that is a skill that can definitely be taught.4 -
Good post. I can feel a goodbye to "saying it as I see it". ;-)Braziliance said:

If he can replicate his Wycombe home performance every game or every other game, a few Championship sides will struggle to deal with him.

Height obviously gives you an advantage in the air, but positioning and anticipation are more important.Scoham said:

We won't know until the season is well under way.
I was pleased like most when Miles signed but Chris Solly's career springs to mind when he may have got a Premier move but for the management of his knee problem when it was all about damage limitation but TBF he did play 301 games over 11 years for cafc and 93 for Ebbsfleet.
If they are different injuries for Leaburn then hopefully he can start to be more robust and less time out injured.
For his and our sake we need his luck to change because he can deliver.0 -
Whe will he be fit to play0

Definitely makings of a good striker. Worries about both fitness and attitude. Speaking to someone who's watched him play since a boy the other day he has always had a tendency to drop his head and go missing/sulk off.Hopefully both can be resolved this season and he can have a great season as we all hope. Would be fantastic to see a Leaburn >10 goals and he wont be short of fan support.
Could make or break our season, as could, ii guess, the form of many players but probably no one more so than him.1 -

We've just seen Norwich sell a striker (3 years older than Leaburn) who got 18 goals get sold for 15m to Porto.6 -

If Leaburn hit 10+ this season , with a bit of young English striker tax and him being a quite a unique prospect with his size and quality on the ball too it would be start the bidding at £10m. I'm sure you'd have most of the Prem and a good few German clubs in the running.5 -
We got £2m from QPR for Bonne after he scored 11 in the Championship, and he was a very limited player in comparison to Miles.Chris_from_Sidcup said:
