Fantastic news if it means he is fully recovered as nobody likes to see an injured player however I am not convinced he will be a success in the championship.
Hope I am wrong and he hits the ground running but I won’t be surprised if he doesn’t
This summer is huge for him. A full pre-season and working closely under NJ and the additional coaching of Hylton too, Leaburn could prove to be an unbelievable forward at this level.
He’s miles better than other forwards we’ve had at this level before. I’m genuinely excited to see how he develops.
Massive statement from the club and Leaburn, really happy with this.
I didn't realise he was 6' 7". If we can just sign Richard Osman & Greg Davies, that's got be a guaranteed 40 headed goals a season.
This is something I noted, and was suspicious of, when he was around this season and looking a bit... well, a bit sluggish/lethargic at times. There were a couple of games where I probably unfairly accused him of looking disinterested and well off the boil.
I think going into last season the accepted height was 6'5, certainly that's what I and a few others thought. To see it confirmed that he's grown a couple of inches genuinely makes me think he's had a bit of trouble adjusting to a growth spurt, and that's manifested in injury and indeed perhaps a slightly faltering technique, because the minutiae really do matter in elite sports*, and if things are off by a couple of percentage points it can have a marked effect.
If he's stopped growing (I'd presume he likely has), and can re-adjust to his new frame, then that is really really good news. I'm delighted we've tied him down to a decent contract and hopefully he can get back to the massively exciting prospect that can realise his potential!
(*yes, yes, people might scoff at L1 or Champ being "elite" but you know what I mean - it's a high level of professional sport where coordination and tiny margins matter loads)

I don't think that's unfair. I also thought this. But with his injuries, it's difficult to tell what exactly his playing style is.
I think this a great deal for both the club & Miles. Like you and many others have said, let's hope his injury woes are behind him we start to see the best of him week in, week out.
Have some of that…nice statement signing from the club as it were.they believe in him,we believe in him,get his fitness sorted & keep the injuries at bay & Miles could be up there with the top strikers in this league or close to being, either way well happy he stays our player…Leeeaburn,Leeeburn…😁
Cynic in me says that he's realised that he ain't getting a move anytime soon & would rather secure his future with a longer term deal than getting injured next Spring & seeing it running out.
Apologies I’m very late to this, but can you for once shut the fuck up you melt?
His mother said he has stopped growing so hopefully he will have less injuries.
How does she know? Does he still live at home & she takes monthly measurements up the door frame 😄.
He does live at home and they work together, would be weirder if she hadn’t noticed
But when you live together you don’t notice. When you see a teenager after a few months, it’s then that you do notice.
Do you think, just maybe, that professional football clubs weigh and measure the height of their players, especially the young ones who are still growing, on a regular basis?
Do you think it might just be possible that Tracey found out that way?
It's not as if she works at the training ground or anything!
Good news although for me he’s the biggest wild card in the squad - could be awful or could be brilliant - the fact he could be brilliant, based on the flashes we’ve seen so far is exciting and could have a massive bearing on our season 🤞
This is the key quote from Jones, Miles is fit and can get a full pre season
"this will be the first time since I’ve been here that Miles gets a pre-season, so this will be a real start of the journey with him. We feel we have real unfinished business with myself and Miles together."
We just need the lower league cloggers from the pre-season friendlies to be on the same page.
If he has an injury free season, he contributes to 15+ this season. I've put that out there early. I am over the moon he has signed, im over the moon he got injured, as if he didn't, I honestly don't think he signs that 3 year deal and I still believe this kid goes all the way.

if he has an injury free season and gets 15+ goals, then enjoy him cause we'll get decent money for his this time next year

I doubt any of our strikers are getting 15+ goals, very unlikely that Leaburn will.

Why would we want to sell when we are stepping up into the Premier League?
Carl Leaburn was a continual debate amongst our fans, but when he played you could almost see opponents roll their eyes thinking ‘ffs have I got to put up with this all game?’ When Miles plays very few of the opposition are going to think ‘you don’t have to worry about him’. Unlike dear old Gassan.
Excellent news. Great to see that NJ has backed himself, coaching and medical staff that they feel that they can get Miles’s career back on track. Well worth the risk and well done the board for backing NJ. I think Miles is going to get a lot of tough love from his manager!

Well, if he is 6ft 7 he needs to start winning some farking headers then !
They talked about this on Charlton Live, he was up there in terms of number of headers won despite missing much of the season.
Leaburn not winning headers has become a bit of a myth, I think it comes from the expectations to win almost everything due to his height.
Guilty of saying Miles didn't win enough in the air previously, and it made me realise the impact of unconscious bias in football. Because so many people were saying it, things seem more drastic than they were. I don't think his height does him any favours either as he is expected by people to win more, but he wins 50% of his aerial duels.
If you match him up against other strikers who are tall and world class, who you would expect to do well in the air, he does very well. Miles at an average of 5.2 aerial duels a game (51% success) is better than Haaland, 0.8 per game (50%) and Kane 0.2 per game (17%). Of course the football probably spends less time in the air in their teams, but it still shows his success rate.
If we compare him to Godden, who seemed to win everything it felt, Matty won an average of 2.8 per game (41%).
Another good benchmark is Vadaine Oliver who was notorious for being an aerially dominant striker, in Vadaine's best season, he won an average of 10.2 per game (55%).
Will attach all their stats below, but basically, Miles aerial threat is actually overlooked, if he was a centre back and was behind a forward, you would likely see a similar dominance of what Lloyd Jones does.
