21 goals in 75 appearances (starts and subs) for 21-year-old Miles.

He's been on the end of some nasty injuries, growing pains, and played out of position at times. A lot of his goals have been vital game differentiators, rather than the cherry-on-the-cake type.

Make no mistake, this extension may not have been agreed if we were still in L1. Very happy.
Agreed, don't think this would have happened if we'd lost against Orient. Another reason why that win was so big for us.

Would love to know what the buyout clause is in the contract.

It's difficult for Miles to go under the radar and he definitely has a high ceiling !
    Be Lucky Leaburn 💁🏽‍♂️

Cynic in me says that he's realised that he ain't getting a move anytime soon & would rather secure his future with a longer term deal than getting injured next Spring & seeing it running out.

    There he is

3 year deal is a real statement of intent from the ownership.
    Absolutely.

Sure there is a risk of injury but there was a greater, IMHO, risk of losing a talented player for nothing. Not that I think he was planning on running his contract down

Now he and the club can plan long term.

    Chinese takeaway tonight @Tracey 😉
    Surely fish and chips Henry?
  • Let’s not kid ourselves, if he had stayed fit he would’ve been off to Preston. If we can keep him fit it’s a massive win for us.

A three year deal surely means that Abbott feels confident that Miles is past the worst of his injury problems and thinks he can remain fit. I really hope so. Huge player for us if he’s fit. 7ft 6 in fact.

Another example of the ambition and commitment of Friedman, Brener and Co.
Previous ownership would have tried to cash in a long time ago.

Absolutely over the moon with this news! Whether this translates into a crown jewel for CAFC or a big fee to CAFC in a year or two, who knows, but feels exciting right now and you just know that Nathan will help Miles develop further and deliver lots…

Hope he realises similar stats to my use of him in EA fc this year😂 This evolution built player is the finest player I have ever used in the decades I have played the game.

Fkn hell mate that is a lot of fifa. Fair play.

Hopefully he gets a good pre-season behind him. If Jones decides to play that way then a Godden and Leaburn partnership could work very nicely.

Very happy with this. Some areas of his game he needs to improve but I feel he can develop and progress in the championship. Leaaaaabuuurnnnn

Great news. Now, let’s hope he can stay injury free. That, obviously, is the key.

Echo this, the club have done their homework and assessment on Miles…… and vice versa for Miles on somewhere to be looked well looked after physically and development-wise…. well done the club and well done Miles…… let’s get this season started!!!

If I hadn’t worked hard to build my professional career and was 20 years younger I would have had a go at pro gaming. Have played the game since its first release 31 years ago and hold my own at Elite level. 👍

Only two yellows and no red cards?! FIFA went downhill when you couldn't tackle the goalie.

Really good news. Now all we need to do is find the players who can get to the byline and put in quality crosses as he'll cause mayhem with that kind of service.

Insurance for when he smacks in 9 goals in 17 games and gets a big money move in January

Weirdly, his injuries may have done us a bit of a favour. You have to think they may have cooled interest in him. That plus promotion will have strengthened the club’s hand in negotiations. The length of contract probably more reflects protecting us from losing him on a free than necessarily expecting he will see out the full contract, assuming he can get past the two injuries (which I believe he will now he has probably stopped growing and can mature into his imposing body).

Hopefully we see a solid year from him this year getting used to the championship and playing how NJ needs him to with no serious injuries, then a beast mode year from him in 26/27 and either he’s been so good we’ve got promoted again or it’ll be time to cash in the big bucks.

How does she know? Does he still live at home & she takes monthly measurements up the door frame 😄.

He does live at home and they work together, would be weirder if she hadn’t noticed

This suits all parties .  He gets security knowing that if he plays well this season , his value goes up and he will be in high demand .  We ensure maximum value next summer if he does do well .  A fully fit and raring leaburn could be a game changer.  Will be great if he can rediscover it.  Hopefully we can get Campbell to sign too - much easier in this division
