Miles has all the attributes to be a top player and he if stays fit, he will be.
Not much pace and not a great hold up player - depends what “top” player means to you .  I dont think he’s a premier league player in the making - hope I’m wrong
I would say he is exceptionally fast for a player of his height.

Agreed compare him to Peter Crouch (nigh on same height) I would take Miles’ pace all day long. I think he could develop into a very good PL player - because we have seen a fair bit of him from a young age we forget his is only 21 years of age. Absolutely tons of his game yet to be developed and genuinely believe NJ will fast-track some of that.

Hold up play usually develops with experience, look how many target men hit their peak in their late 20s/early 30s. I think that part of his game will click in time - hopefully for us sooner than later.

He definitely had pace, especially for his height, though didn’t look as quick last season. It’ll be interesting to see if he recovers it to an extent once he’s fully fit and properly gets going again.

Miles Leaburn has such long legs that his normal run needs a sprinter to keep up with him.

Interesting take from Sam the fan pundit in this article

"However, I think if there were to come a time when an offer comes in of £1m-£2m from a League One club, I think they would take it, I think they would definitely take it.

"He's not the player that is going to go to the Premier League anymore; he's had a few injuries, and he hasn't quite come back from them very positively, and as you say, he's struggling in the Championship.

Well the club had a couple of offers in January for him for a little over a million and they didn’t take it - not sure a whole lot has changed since then.  While the club might accept an offer if well above what they perceive as market value,  I don’t think that is likely in the short term here.  Still only 21 and still time to develop, probably not on massive wages.  Maybe if he was 24 or 25 and was not progressing, maybe then

He’s a big lad and been around for a few seasons so it’s easy to forget he’s still young and got a lot of football left in his career and is still learning. Personally think for a 21 year old playing in the championship he really performs his job well in holding up the ball, bringing others into play and giving defenders some physicality.

I can't ever see him playing in the Premier League so I think the championship is his ceiling.
How much could we realistically expect to get for him.
    3 or 4 million max.
Depending on how well he is doing.

The injuries have definitely had an impact, as he's sadly lost a bit of pace, and it was the combination of his height and being much faster than you'd expect, that made him such a hot prospect.

He has improved his hold up play though, even if it's not as good as his father yet.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, whether he is a CAST board member or not is neither here nor there.

I've not read the article but I don't think Miles's ceiling is the PL either. An average Championship striker is the best I see him being. Hope I'm proved wrong but won't be holding my breath.

Hold player strikers often peak in their late 20s or early 30s, so although he’s got a lot to improve on I wouldn’t write him off doing so.

Rickie Lambert wasn’t doing much in the 4th tier at the same age, went on to play for Liverpool and England - not saying Miles will do the same, but it shows how much players can improve.

Yann really kicked on when he joined us to give another example.

Ivanovic had 1 good season at Millwall and suddenly they slap a 15M price tag on him. If all it takes is one slightly good season from Leaburn to suddenly be worth 5-10M we shouldn’t even think about letting him go for 1-2N

You're writing him off far too early. He's 21 years old and playing Championship football for the first time in his career.

Guarantee he'll hit a purple patch at some point in the next few months and suddenly all the talk will be about how he's worth 20M+.

He's been injured for 2 years. And he's now back to playing in a level above. He has the attributes to be a good player in this league just need a bit of patience

    Great fan pundit! Speaks sense...

All jokes aside, i was asked whether Miles had struggled to get game time and whether the club will want to keep him long term - obviously my 2 minute response doesn't quite reflect in the above!

Having said that, i do think he will likely go back to league one next season if he doesnt take this season to his advantage.
Next season is a huge year should we be in the championship - a year of hopefully increased investment but also a year of knowing that League One players are not going to cut it - i'd imagine we will look to move on players like Leaburn, Gillesphey, Kanu and Ahadme in favour of experienced championship pros. Therefore should a transfer of £1-2m come in in summer - then i can see the club taking it, hes certainly not worth more than £3m *currently* imo

If you actually read the piece, it's very fair on Miles and balanced. A soundbite taken, and slapped by the poster above doesn't give the whole story!

It would be very good if he became an average Champ striker. No sign of that yet tho.
