  • I can't remember either of the saves from Berry. I'm sure I was there too. Maybe I wasn't after all 🤔
They were in quick succession so easy to miss if you look the wrong way for a minute or two

Their keepers two saves mid-way through second half were outstanding. If one of those had gone in it would have looked a very different result.
  • Havent seen us a lot this season but we almost stumbled into a 2 goal lead without having put really anything together.

Not sure what switch they made at half time but they were drawing us on and beating the press several times to find lots of vacant space in midfield.

They were better than I expected and I'm not really sure what our plan is, but this is definitely the type of game we often lose so I'm pleased!

  • No where near the game today as another family day with my fellow elder siblings, I know I have moaned about certain games, but hey ho another win and 🤞they can go into the next one with a bit more confidence, get past Wycombe unscathed and we might get the momentum going in the squad! Pleased for Miles and TC as they are beginning to click on the goalscoring front!
  • Wasn't as dominant a win as I'd hoped for after going 2 goals up but happy with the 3 points.

I'm also happy we're currently looking at the teams above us in the table rather than over our shoulder, still a lot of points to play for.
  • At a complete tangent I did find it wrong that their goalkeeper was in yellow when they were in ‘gold’.

Isn’t the idea that the keeper should be clearly distinguishable?

I think that saying we battered them in the first half is equally absurd as the comments that we were "hanging on" in the second. The two early goals by us were the only real moments of quality that either team managed in the whole game - their goal was not that special and really could and should have been cut off much earlier.

It was not a good game. There were two pretty mediocre sides out there but we looked much "less bad" at least. But winning without playing well is very important for form and confidence so ultimately today has to be a positive, just a qualified one.
What about their shot which hit the post after we gave the guy the freedom of our penalty area to get his angle? Quality effort, AMB nowhere, and if that had gone in….

I think it's best you don't go anymore then. Plain as day that their keeper made a good save from Berry & held onto a couple of long range efforts from Doc & Berry (?). Then again I had a good view on the sofa about 10ft away from my 49 inch tv.
  • The 2 missed challenges was unacceptable for the goal.
Though in fairness, I thought Cambridge weren't a bad side.

About us, we looked okay and played some decent stuff at times. Agree Lloyd Jones makes a difference. Bin Gillesphey off aswell and try find another Jones!

Keep it going. I'd take a draw against Wycombe to not lose too much momentum!
  • Although hard to say at the time there was “improvement” in the terrible Mansfield game, that being we actually passed the ball in midfield. It happened again with great effect at Northampton and was there again the first half today.

This team is desperate for creativity in midfield, if that can be fixed in the next weeks, then I hope/believe playoffs can happen.

NJ has effectively had one window & pre-season plus 21 games to build a squad effect changes, two summer windows don’t seem too
unreasonable considering the frigging mess we were in!

When you recall what Powell done, it was nothing short of a fecking miracle😊
  • 3 points to keep the momentum going can’t be moaned at although being 2 goals up so early it shouldn’t have been the nail biter it was. Gillesphey is just useless I cannot believe the plaudits he gets from Steve Brown on comms. The bloke is a liability

  • In the meantime, perhaps the top heavy management team could manage to provide enough working toilets for a very modest crowd that (female) supporters aren’t queuing into the second half (AC Stand) and the commercial manager could get off his arse and arrange to replace large house adverts left over from last season?
Too busy steering the oil tanker I suspect 😉
  • Not the rousing home win I'd hoped for, something I think we all need to see to restore some belief, but it’s a job done. A nice little run of results we're on now, and the next three league games offer a chance to keep it going.
  • I thought Cambridge looked better than their league position but if you let goals in like the first, through the keeper’s legs, it’s probably a sign of why. Second goal, I would have thought the keeper should have done something rather than flap at the ball. So we were 2-0 up in 20 minutes gone and 70 to go. I think sometimes that can be a bit of a dilemma, do you go for a third or stick with what you have?  I thought we were capable of defending that lead but it got a lost in the second half. Not the best of games but certainly not the worse and an improvement on a few weeks ago.
Back to back wins and it’s Christmas.

Agreed but … apart from 4 games where they have been free scoring … their results are not that special.

Their results are not all that special 🤔
Wycombe are second in the table and 17 points above Charlton.
This must be a wind up as I keep hearing it's a results business. The Chairboys are over achieving.

Richard Kone will probably be sold in the January window if someone finds just over a million for the player who was playing for Athletic Newham until January 2024 and has a dozen goals and plenty of assists this season.

Really pleased we got 3 points today but we are far off being contenders.
  • Docherty is getting some very 'did a good thing right at the end of the game' player marks lol
  • We’re not going to be contending for the autos, but to suggest we’re not in the play off mix, is over the top negativity

Saw someone on twitter saying Doc was superb today. I must have been watching a different game
  • You must have a dodgy memory. We had better chances for 3-1 than they did 2-2 but for a couple of good saves from their bloke.
Just pointing out they hit the post. So they had a better chance than we did  for 2-2 rather than than 3-1.
Overall a lower quality game,  few chances. Minor credit to winners - 3 points is more important.
