1 (dire) win in 9 after that Birmingham game, and a lot of failing to do the basics2 -

Unless there is a dramatic turnaround in our fortunes very soon, I will be amazed if Methven, Rodwell and Scott are still at Charlton come the start of next season.
At last, it looks like you're coming around to the fact we are in trouble.
If by trouble you mean relegation, you’ve been saying that the last three years…In the last 12 game form table we are firmly in the relegation zone. It took two changes of management to get us out of this position last season.

While a 5-0 win is excellent, we've got to try and start getting more basic 2-0 or 2-1 type wins against decent teams before we can get too enthused.
We had 15 shots today, 7 on target, 5 goals. That won't happen every week, we need to be winning games where we might only get 4 or 5 chances instead.

I understand, but it is enought to build up the faith again (for it to then get lost in that boxing day hangover)1

Enjoy the journey and the lows make you appreciate the highs even more.
We've been toothless up front, error prone in defence and had a midfield that can run around a lot but looks terrified of the actual ball itself.
That system, that method, never ever looked like "clicking" at all. Any POSSIBLE recovery (and even that is not confirmed yet) is by FINALLY giving up on the sufferball shite and attempting more progressive football.
Jones gets more time based on the latest couple of results and signs he might just change his system... but he's still been a massive disappointment so far this season, no matter how many goals we put past Northampton.I watched two of our academy graduates enjoy seeing their winning contributions to the game and they made a difference.I can only imagine spending that much of ones life for those few moments, and then when I don't quite perform seeing grownup people shout and berate me from the stands and also now from social media try and tell me I am not worthy. Then as a manager of the game, when I try to change a whole club, that has been losing its way for so many years and for so many reasons, that this can be achieved in less than 12 months is quite frankly laughable. There is no quick fix, there is no spend lots of money and become a Manchester club.We need a complete rebuild, from culture, finance and structure. Perhaps Nathan can't take us to the Premiership but I believe he can, with all the support, take us to the top 4 EFL.It is a journey, accept the lows.We cannot keep sacking managers2 -

As soon as he said that I switched off. Can't be fucked with that. You win 1 in 9 league games in this division, you're lucky you ain't sacked, let alone criticised. Especially with a transfer window and a pre-season to address it all.
Let's see where we are after the next 2 games, which are both very winnable home games.
I do agree that any criticism would be fully justified though, so not sure how he can say "some not".
I also think you're being a bit harsh, we were a mess last season and 1 transfer window and 1 pre-season is definitely not enough to address it all. He's definitely sorted the defence out, but clearly other areas need improving now as well. Look at a club like Man U, they (like us) have been a mess for years, and 1 transfer window won't be enough to address their problems.7 -

However that doesn't mean that the results and performances before that weren't awful, because they absolutely were. Jones has said for a long time that he's not happy with them himself but it's only been the last game (well game and a half technically) that he's tried anything different.
I fully accept the lows but that does not mean enjoying them or pretending that they are not lows - and the last few months under Jones have been about as low as it gets.2 - Sponsored links:

Yeah we're 4 points off 6th, but... We're 9 points off 5th, and 12 points off 4th.
The 6th place spot is up for grabs at the moment but there's a lot of competition. We need a big run to not make it a lottery.

I don't think we are comparable to Man United. The Premier league is a different beast entirely. This is poxy league one. It's such a poor quality league.
I understand you're comparing a club with expectations, but it's not the same. A better comparison for me would be "Look at Bradford in League2" who are way below where they should be, and are making a right mess of it. That's the situation we're in.4 -

Luton were on a run in our last promotion and we stopped that. We gave Birmingham their first loss. It's poxy league1, any team should be fair game.
I'll be blunt, I will always be critical while we are in this league. I think it's a complete and utter joke of a league

I make Nathan right. A lot of the criticism was justified but other things weren't, like claiming he'd lost the dressing room.11

I've spent over two thirds of my life supporting this team and use all my time off in lieu watching them just so I can come on the Charlton forums and say "told you so" when we lose games.
It's been a sinister plot, but it's all been worth it for the days when we lose to Crawley Town at home8 -
Jones is a good person who is sensitive to criticism. That is no reason to dislike him.1

If Jones gets offended and takes a pop at fans, I don't get offended. Communinication in interveiws is clearly not his strength and having an almost blind faith in his ability is actually not a bad thing. If it is unfounded, he will be gone at some point so no harm in him thinking he can turn it round rather than thinking he can't.
Us fans have an absolute right to call it as we see it and I'm sure most of us will continue to do so. Like most fans, I will probably go overboard with the praise when there is something to praise but I will critcise when things are poor. My advice to Jones would be, don't get angry when fans call out poor performances and if you want to be smug, be smug on the back of sustained performances which of course we won't mind in those circumstances because all we want is this club to sort itself out.
I don't like him with the caveat I don't really know him. But he is not there for me to like him. He is there to get results.2 -
Received an early Christmas present of Brian Clough quotes that seemed apposite for our current situation.
Let's hope our manager continues his recent 'cultural' approach, rather than the 'agricultural' one.6 -
